Giant Oak and Never Retreat...

I've always been a fan and although injured I'm happy to add his name here and not elsewhere... The only one to survive that awful morning at Gulfstream. Still waiting for the names of the other two... the 4th is already listed on the angels thread. http://www.drf.com/news/gulfstream-p...%80%99s-career |
Dim Sum, HK dual G1 winner, the former Algol...
His greatest moments were winning the Chairman's Sprint Prize twice. (Shock winner in some seriously tough fields).. http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2009&raceno=08 http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2011&raceno=08 He retires with a rating of 123 which puts him in a tie for 11th in the Top 50. Hope he gets to go somewhere nice. |

Sight Winner, 7 years old, member of the old guard of HK racing...
Here's his finest moment... winning the Champions Mile and shocking the hell out of everyone... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2009&raceno=07 He retires with a rating of 112 which puts him in the top 50. Hasn't done well at all lately especially that last race, The Stewards Cup, last weekend. Hope he gets to go somewhere nice. Happy retirement. |

He had won the Derby in 2010, had some other pretty nice wins, but hadn't done well the last couple of seasons. He retires with a rating of 104 which puts him in the 50th spot on the Top 50 list. Hope he gets to go back home now (NZ). |

The Usual Q.T...
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...al-q-t-retired ... and the sometimes naughty but lightning fast Smart Missile... http://www.thoroughbrednews.com.au/s....aspx?id=58479 |

Aikenite
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...kenite-retired “He’s been a lovely horse for Dogwood—happily enough, named for our hometown of Aiken, South Carolina,” (Cot) Campbell said. “Aikenite has been reliable, uncomplicated, and is what a Thoroughbred race horse is supposed to look like.” He was fun to watch - and bet. |

SIR SLICK!
:D :D 151 starts. Only two wins in his last 71 races, but 20 wins in his first 80. 15 stakes wins; six G1 wins. He was asked to run far too many times, and his performance suffered in the last few years. But I hope people remember him for the amazing first half of his career. And I hope he has a wonderful retirement in a nice big paddock. |
Oh wow I've been wa iting for this post for literally years just as I know you've waited to write it.
Thank God. Thank you for the only good news this weekend. I hope he has a very long, healthy and happy life and that his fans are able to go and visit him as he has millions worldwide. Absolutely thrilled. Thank you for some of the best racing memories ever. :tro: |
Since our good Sir didn't get a thread I would feel bad doing one for this one BUT Sacred Kingdom has been retired. :)
A brilliant champion, multiple G1 winner and one of the last remaining members of the old guard. I'm sure Sha Tin will arrange an official ceremony for him and will update the HK thread when I hear anything. Very very happy. It was time. http://racing.scmp.com/freeservice/n...s20120402a.asp I wish both would go to Living Legends. |
Brave Kid who, when he started, looked spectacular winning his first 6 in a row and shooting from Class 4 to 1 (HK).
No idea what happened to him, why he didn't seem to do well after that. Nice horse though and one with fans... Hope he gets to go somewhere nice. Happy retirement. |
I Want Revenge, winner of the 2009 Wood Memorial, has been retired from racing. I Want Revenge, a son of Stephen Got Even, retired with a record of 3-3-6 from 14 starts and career earnings of $928,000.

Thrilled for I Want Revenge. It's about time.
This one on the other hand... such a shame. Scarlett Lady (who was just soooo good). http://www.racingandsports.com.au/ra...asp?NID=245534 |
It is sad. :( She was very very good, but could have been so much better if she hadn't been so injury-prone.

VOSNE ROMANEE.
A decent but unspectacular horse for most of his career; an incredible superstar for six months in 2009-10. http://www.theinformant.co.nz/racing...-Vosne-Romanee "'We were really happy he pulled up sound after Saturday and he’s in a big paddock now with grass up to his knees,' [owner] Ian Smart said." :) I'll miss him and his big blaze. |

I swear on my life tears are welling up in my eyes but i really really am happy. He was so much fun to follow and root for... a brave and honest horse who was a champion... I will miss watching that big blaze as well. Those replays of his I posted the other day... he's one of those rare horses where if I have time that is my idea of relaxation... watching his best days. Thank you ed for showing him to me and bravo to his connections for calling time now. HAPPY RETIREMENT, VOSNE ROMANEE, (and thank you for the fantastic memories)!!!! * * * Presvis. http://www.lucacumani.com/news.php?id=27 |

JIMMY CHOUX
http://www.theinformant.co.nz/racing...-Choux-retired The best horse I've had the pleasure of seeing race in NZ since AT LEAST Xcellent in 2004-05. You're a champion, Jimmy, and I hope you pass on some of that awesomeness to the little Jimmys to come. |

Of course I never saw him in person being half a world away but he was without question one of the greatest horses I've ever had the good fortune to know about and follow in my few short years being a fan. Extraordinary, champion, brave... all those cliche things people say? Well the truest sense of those words... that is the only way to define him. I'll miss watching him and just being happy to see where he's being pointed to / entered in. Thanks for the memories, Jimmy, and for being a present-day great cause there aren't many... * * * Lest i forget I need to add Older Than Time who is such a nice mare and Dao Dao who was a little disappointing but hey it's not easy placing in that many G1's (5? 6?) and at 8 years old he sure has earned it. |
