We should have a better idea of who all is going after the big preps this weekend. :)

BTW, I do like Meandre but he might go at 8-1 on the day of the race. Too bad Pour Moi was hurt and retired.

Geez and I kept meaning to add in that other race with Galikova but never did get around to it.
Sorry guys! Anyway... Results... http://horses.sportinglife.com/Full_...459102,00.html No big surprises. :) |
No Arc for Christophe Soumillon this time around...

8-time Group 1 winner So You Think to be aimed at the ‘Arc’
(15th September 2011) Coolmore today announced that their New Zealand-bred and Australian-raced superstar So You Think will now be aimed at Europe’s premier middle-distance contest, the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, at Longchamp on October 2nd. “So You Think is in great form and all being well with him, the plan is to run in the ‘Arc’ given reasonable ground conditions,” said trainer Aidan O’Brien. http://www.coolmore.com/news-article.php?id=9278 |
I'll be at the Arc this year, first time. Glad to see So You Think pointed there, adds a nice touch to the festivities.
|
That is awesome! Lucky you!
|
The Arc and the Melbourne Cup would be on the top of my list of races to see in person, just viewing online it's insanely interesting.

As a longshot, she would be a good tip at 25/1, still I think Galikova is going to win this, Meandre is the other longshot worth considering. |
Have not been around but i guess posts are missing (?)...
Okay I love the idea of Galikova winning but I will stick with my girl Snow Fairy (even with Frankie up :wf) and will use Danedream cause really... she is the great unknown (but she sure looked good that last time) as well as Hiruno d'Amour who is always underrated. The owner of Nakyama Festa die before the Arc last year. It was her dream and her dad continues to try to make it come true so just wanted to mention that cause i won't be around much and in the event he puls it off... Good luck guys. PPs should be here pretty soon... http://www.amwestentertainment.com/a...caps/free-pps/ |
I like a pair of 3 yr olds this year, Galikova and the horse I mentioned on 9/8/11 in this thread, Meandre. Both horses will get the 2400 and both may need every inch of it to get up. But I like the way these 2 are heading into the big race.
Galikova but probably a little bit more on Meandre, he probably is the bet as he looks to be overlooked. |

Random thought, Treasure Beach looks like a 2 time gr.1 sacrificial lamb to ensure Ballydoyle from inheriting the lead too early in the race.

Wish it had been Snow Fairy but I absolutely did play this one to win too :) (I just didn't spend as much but that is fine haha). My post about her bypassing the Shuka Sho is gone but i sure am glad they came here instead! Okay I am going back to bed. :D Happy Arc Day, guys! |
Aidan O'Brien is going to get a tongue-lashing from Bart Cummings and he deserves it. Taking So You Think to the far back end of the field? Again with the pacemaker? Stupid, stupid, stupid. SYT has plenty of pace on his own, he can sit handy and has done so with excellent results in Australia. He stays - he passed a large portion of the field in the later stages - but O'Brien seems convinced that he doesn't. At least he finished first of the male horses in the field.
I should have had some money on the German filly. I am the big backer of German horses and breeding. Stupid move again. |
I wish they'd send him home! Don't you?
Well I had to wait for tvg to have results and yea for the girls coming in 1,2 and 3! Had forgotten I played Snow Fairy across so yes this is a good morning and thank you Danedream AND Snow Fairy. |
Definitely. But Coolmore is wedded to O'Brien. And O'Brien won't train or run the horse the way that is most successful for him because it doesn't fit his mindset. Same problem that Baffert had with War Emblem; took over training after the horse had reached his peak, then didn't persevere with how the horse got there. (War Emblem needed fairly frequent racing to progress, even if he didn't win, but that didn't fit 'The Program.')

Great call SC, congrats!
|
Thanks, guys!!!
I am really, really happy. :) |
Is there any news on Dever Dream (Prix de la Foret)?
|
I'd never heard of Danedream before this race - what a first impression! She destroyed them, and in race record time. I'm speechless.
|
I was suprised by the final time of the race, 2:24.49. Didn't think they would let the ground that fast, especially when Stoute gave the go ahead for Workforce.
