You poor thing. Who is sitting there holding your eyelids open, and forcing you to read them? Please, the powers that be are awaiting your words of wisdom. Do go ahead.

Don't you have questions to answer in another thread?

:tro:. He should announce in the taxpayer-funded Jerry Jones Stadium by driving one of those shriner cars to the podium.

It'll take 20 minutes for the crowd to stop cheering before the Lord's prayer.

I wonder how many people will check "other" when voting for president next year.

Bachmann attends church service denouncing homosexualityBy NBC's Jamie Novogrod
WAUKEE, IA –- Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann yesterday attended a church here in Iowa, where the pastor called homosexuality "immoral" and "unnatural," and later showed a testimonial video from a man who claimed to have been gay before having a conversation with God.

The reading drew cheers. Pastor Jeff Mullen, standing next to Bachmann, took her Bible his hand. “There are some candidates who start running, and have this come-to-Jesus moment,” he said. "What I love about this Bible,” he said, “is how well it's used.”

yeah, but does she know the constitution? we already know about how well she read u.s. history!

It might be a surprise to find out what percentage of the population that isn't theophobic. I have no problem with a political candidate wearing their religion on their sleeve so long as their resume doesn't include them using their religion to make political decisions. Rick Perry hasn't declared his candidacy and the left is out en masse to take him down. There must be some fear there.

I'd like to know from the Obama fans who on the right would be a suitable candidate. I'll bet it's a RINO.

Then Rick Perry isn't your guy. Either is Michelle Bachmann.

Rick Perry today announced his announcement is coming :D

Fear of an incompetent idiot? The guy isn't even respected in Texas, his state is a disaster only kept alive by federal dollars he takes on the sly.

Well, considering that the GOP has move so far to the right that many Democrats now encompass historically "Republican" ideals, and that Ronald Reagan wouldn't even pass the current "GOP Purity Test" for candidates, it's hard to say.

But I think religious zealots need not apply.

What? On what planet is Texas a disaster? Texas added jobs at a rate of 3x that of the national average between June 2010 and June 2011. Texans are also not burdened by a state income tax or a high rate for property taxes. Where are you getting this info?

true. my only problem with him thus far is his far right religious stuff. but you can't argue with the economy down there-and of course that state is larger than a number of other states combined. he's got successes to back him up for sure.

clyde 08-08-2011 08:21 PM

She's getting it from the ''sources" Alex Jones uses.

I'm from Texas and am hardly a huge fan of Rick Perry but he is in no way as disliked as Riot is attempting to argue. He has been fortunate to win re-election and that's had a lot to do with the Democrats nominating HORRIBLE candidates. Bill White, who he defeated in the last election, was very unpopular in Houston and had the tag of being sympathetic with illegal immigrants applied to him readily. That did not go over well in the smaller cities throughout the state.

There was a great amount of political motivation to the way Perry conducted himself at the recent session. The Texas legislature only meets every two years, so what doesn't get touched is often dead and stinking by the time they re-convene. He took stimulus money to help the state close the budget gap and what he got in the end was a balanced budget. The expense was a likely shortfall in 2013 provided Texas doesn't have huge gains in revenue generated by new businesses/residents. That is entirely possible based on the recent growth statistics within the state but is unlikely to reach the necessary level.

What Perry has perpetuated in the state is an extremely business friendly atmosphere. This has earned him a label as a fat cat "rich get richer" politician but is the most important reason why Texas creates jobs. As for his religious stuff, really, who cares? Does it matter to anyone that Obama is basically an agnostic?

that's an article i found-i was trying to find one i had read earlier about job growth in texas. this isn't the one tho.
however, some interesting tidbits in the article, including the fact that bushies don't like him.
not sure if the last line is correct, could just be hyperbole. but if it's fact-again, he's got some successes to back him up.

and from what i read on in a very brief slate article, he's polling ahead of everyone but romney.

as for obama being agnostic, it's something i've enjoyed from him. it's refreshing after eight years of bush acting because of what god told him. i want logic from the govt, not theology.

Newspapers. The unemployment rate rose in June, the 2009-2010-2011 massive budget shortfalls were balanced with millions of federal stimulus dollars (while Perry decried federal spending and the stimulus), and the 2012-2013 budget is 27 million short, causing slashing in education and going to the emergency fund.

Perry has quite a reputation, but it doesn't seem to hold all that true upon close examination.

That was essentially my point. I think way too much is made of the whole thing, especially when one can be accused of being from "the religious right."

Not so much. The unemployment rate in Texas is 8.2%, well below the national rate. Texas is also responsible for half the jobs added nationwide in the period between 2009 and 2011. The population growth in Texas over the last two years has been remarkable.

Perry did not go to the emergency fund, at the risk of being publicly flogged by every teacher in the state. Texas' much ballyhooed "rainy day fund" still exists, even if Perry has earmarked every last dollar in it.

I will not vote for a candidate who is running because she/he was "called by God". I will not vote for a candidate associated with hate (and unfortunately, that applies so some of the "self-professed most religious" of our current candidate roster)

There is a whole wing of evangelicalism that advises it's adherents to get involved in government to help turn governmental law towards their religious ideals (Palin, Bachmann)

You'd better be running because you see problems in this country, and you think you have answers. I don't care what your religion is. I care that you have ethics and morals. Hating the poor doesn't cut it for me, either.

Way too many RACISTS here. The guy is doing an unbelievable job and anyone that doesn't agree has to be a racist.
Most of his supporters don't even know what the stock market is so why would they care what has happenned in the last week as long as they get their check from the government.
