Glorious Goodwood!

Anyone else getting excited?

It's coming!

_ed_ 07-13-2011 07:11 AM

Very excited! Always so many great races. The Sussex Stakes should of course be the highlight.

Any long-range thoughts on the Stewards' Cup? I have a fondness for this race because it was in the 2006 running that I first noticed the horse that became one of my favorites, Borderlescott. He won it by a neck that year, conceding 6 lbs to the second; the next year he carried 9-9 (135 lbs) and lost by a head, conceding 8 lbs to the winner; the year after that he carried 9-10 and finished third, 3/4 length behind Conquest, who carried 15 fewer lbs. Next out after that 2008 race he won the G1 Nunthorpe S and has been in pattern or listed company ever since. The old fellow (he's now 9yo) seems to have lost a few steps this year; maybe he needs to go back to his favorite race and course.

He's a nice horse. I didn't realize he was still in training.

I know Hoof It is pointed and I do like that one.

Not a great horse or anything but has some nice wins to his credit... two back he beat some awfully nice types (Horseradish who is now a resident of HK and has some God-awful new name, Mister Hughie who is no longer with Mick Channon, Dockofthebay and Tajneed who are both pointed as well, Flipendo who I'm a fan of). It was his first race back (since Octobe)r and he beat a field of 20 (the start before he won - field of 21).

Nice type who I think is improving and who I hope Fallon takes the mount on.

Anyone interest you at this point?

I knew you'd be excited too, ed.

Umm yes Clyde go horsies.

clyde 07-14-2011 01:26 PM

Well I just was excited..that's all.

my miss storm cat 07-14-2011 01:27 PM

What a ****ed up, sad day this is.

I just wanted to mention, though, that Hoof It got a nice win today.

Hey, he's a sound gelding who likes his job. What else is he going to do? He's only 9. Further Flight was a group winner at 9 and 3 times group-placed at 11.

Canford Cliffs v Frankel is only 90 minutes away!

Both horses have won their last five in a row. This is going to be amazing.

Is there anywhere online where this is streaming?

Sightseek 07-27-2011 09:06 AM

Can someone please post results afterwards?

Thanks!

smuthg 07-27-2011 09:15 AM

He led the whole way with Canford Cliffs about a length and a half behind. When he was asked with a bit over a furlong to go, he just accelerated away from Canford Cliffs.

Arletta 07-27-2011 09:17 AM

What a horse :tro:

King Glorious 07-27-2011 09:18 AM

That was incredible. I had goosebumps afterwards. I understand that he had it all his own way but the way he quickened and took off was as incredible as I can remember from any horse in the past 10 years at least and probably more. Super impressive. For those that didn't see it, find a way to see it. This is by far the best horse in the world. Canford Cliffs was destroyed.

Just heard the call on ATR and now I have goosebumps too.

King Glorious 07-27-2011 09:29 AM

I know that it might just be the moment speaking but I am pretty sure that he's the best miler I've ever seen. If you didn't know how good Canford Cliffs was, you'd have still been impressed. Knowing the quality of CC and how easily he was defeated, maybe it's not just the moment speaking. The only thing that's holding me back is that it's likely that Canford Cliffs was injured during the race looking at the way he was drifting out down the lane.
