full tilt/pokerstars taken down by feds

i'm not home to check on my account but according to the news the d.o.j. siezed the domain names and anyone trying to log on is greeted by a notice from the f.b.i. about the illegality of internet gambling.

that's huge for anyone that played online. these are the two biggest sites for u.s. players. i'll lose just over $1000 assuming there's no access to full tilt anymore but i know people that'll be out tens of thousands. it's a sad day and a tough hit on a lot of bankroll's.

i hate to think of having to drive to a brick and mortar for a game now.

You are correct. I can still logon with their downloaded version.

you can get to the games through the download? that's not so bad then.

if all they did is seize fulltilt.com it'll just cut off new u.s. players signing on. i thought they would have cut off all access.

still...i have to assume the money i have on is going to be really hard to ever get off now.

Yes... I didn't sit at a table just logged in.

I just tried to download updated version and it stopped and asked me to try later. Fortunately I only have a little over $500,000.00 and 100% is play money. :)

Not sure how this hurts Full Tilt?

Wouldn't have been prudent for the Feds to alert players to drain their accounts prior to the shutdown?

maybe they'll collect any money held in US accounts and of course spend it more wisely than account holders.

As soon as they're done making lunches and searching the school children for food contraband.

MaTH716 04-16-2011 01:31 PM

Maybe this will be good for horse racing as some card players will come over and become full/part time players.

hockey2315 04-16-2011 11:08 PM

This is going to kill all the juicy live games. . .

jms62 04-17-2011 07:29 AM

I guess the FBI is dropping in class to get a win to build self esteem. The War on Terror/Wallstreet Corruption/Internet Predators wasn't going so great so I guess the War on Poker players will give them their much needed victory.

The thing I find fustrating is that with the government having no money, instead of closing everything down and trying to lock people up, why not jump on board and get a free piece of the pie?

Math... 2 Words. Religious Right They will bitch and ****ing moan about deficits yet any novel idea (online gaming, legalization of pot) they find the need to protect us from ourselves.. Yet their ****ing Bingo games keep on keeping on. If I had the resources I would certainly leave this country becuase it has become a ****ing parody out of a South Park Script.

hi_im_god 04-17-2011 08:30 PM

and now all u.s. players are blocked from full tilt. even through the download. it's nice to be informed my money is safe even though i'll have no access to it. hope it enjoys it's nice long vacation.

The mythical religious right isnt having much luck in Ga. Turns out the folks need the extra cash and sales from liquor, so the Sunday ban on it will soon be lifted.

How did Doyle avoid this? He still has my friend's $4k from the 1st time they shut down the poker sites.

Riot 04-20-2011 11:16 AM

Let us know if you get your money!

Quote:

Two of the three online poker sites shut down by the government last week have cut a deal to return players' money, the Justice Department in New York said today.

The agreements allow for PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker to use the pokerstars.com and fulltiltpoker.com domain names to facilitate the withdrawal of U.S. players' funds held in accounts with the companies, according to the statement.

"No individual player accounts were ever frozen or restrained, and each implicated poker company has at all times been free to reimburse any player's deposited funds," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharra said in a statement. "In fact, this office expects the companies to return the money that U.S. players entrusted to them, and we will work with the poker companies to facilitate the return of funds to players, as today's agreements with PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker demonstrate."

still not able to withdraw any money at full tilt. anyone playing pokerstars able to withdraw?

Riot 04-20-2011 08:31 PM

Can you get to the poker site people via telephone? I'd want to get my money up front, before they start adding up legal fees.

If not, I"ll bet this telephone number is available on the internet:
Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharra

i'm not that worried. i assumed the money was gone on friday. if there's a chance i can eventually get access to it that's great.

i'm sure full tilt's owner's are going to be a little behind the curve set by the d.o.j. in a press announcement. i would guess there may be a hang up getting my major u.s. bank to accept an unmasked transfer from a gambling site which remains a violation of the 2006 act that caused all this uproar.

if i ever get it i'll be happy. if not, i'll live.

You'll get it back 100%. I've been down this road before with Netteller. To these Poker sites reputation is the most important thing they have. Not paying is suicide for their
business. They will survive this and can survive without the US market. I also think poker will eventually be legal in this country.

i loved netteller. it was so easy back then. 2-3 days for a withdrawal instead of 2-3 weeks.

i only posted this because normally i'd be in the middle of a $20+2 or $30+3 single table. i knew all the regulars and avoided them for the most part.

now i get my ironing done between posts.

i'm thinking of adding bedsheets.

dellinger63 04-24-2011 11:24 AM

Full Tilt is back up and running w/only play money. They also give a statement when signing on that because of actions taken by Obama & Co. players are currently not able to withdraw or 'add' :zz: money to their accounts.

Wonder what he'll do when Holder tells him the high gas prices are due to violence and unrest in the Middle East? Send in some more drones?

He's done enough. :wf

hi_im_god 04-24-2011 06:44 PM

opened up and successfully funded an account at lock poker yesterday. nice simple interface. and there is almost no one there. the wait for a $20 single table is 30-45 minutes to get 10 players registered. it's like being in a poker room as 3am all the time. good luck to anyone that likes to multi-table.

it was really fun sending cash via western union for the first time. nice 4% rake paid right off the bat. hope the withdrawals are easier. it might take a while to find out though since i already dropped $44 my first two tourneys. i so good.

hi_im_god 04-24-2011 10:50 PM

just in case any on-line poker players want to follow my lead, don't. horrible tournament structure unless you're a fan of super-turbo's. 10 minute blind increases. 8 minutes at the single tables.

you might as well play the lottery.

can't really tell you much about the ring games. those aren't my strength. i played a little and and lost. just won a $20/10 person single based on nearly everyone pushing all-in constantly at level 7 and above and getting lucky. in this structure that play actually made some sense.

i'm still down $40 and don't think more play will be profitable. cashing out and will see how that goes.

jwkniska 04-27-2011 01:47 PM

Stars opened up their cashier to allow everyone to take a mandatory cashout for your account balance.

hi_im_god 10-07-2013 09:50 PM

did anyone else get their "notice of remission" from the claims administrator?

mine would up in my spam folder and had been sitting there since mid-september. I just filed.

wondering if anyone else has seen this.
