A veteran like Coach Pants is smart enough to know when the right time is to leave. The best part about his retirement is that he is going out on his own terms and he doesn't have to regret anything.

The writing was on the wall. This is like when a team is about to change ownership and its 37 year old QB doesn't want to start over and rebuild so he decides to hang it up and go do color commentary. This place is about to get worse, and Coach is wise to not stick around and ever see it happen.

jms62 04-05-2011 03:16 PM

Coach, we got off on the wrong foot but I respect what you bring here. I may not always agree with the delivery but the message is usually spot on.

Antitrust32 04-05-2011 03:18 PM

Wonderful. I'm probably going to have to stay away from politics now, dont think I can handle the Liberalation Movement of Riot/Somer/Mike all by myself. And I have a feeling that MaTH wont be spending a lot of time in there either.

dagolfer33 04-05-2011 03:27 PM

Going to miss all of your warm and fuzzy Holliday messages Coach.........Roll Tide.........

I swear to God, I hate going in there. I usually don't even read most of the crap that's posted in there. But something lured me into that UN thread and now I want to bang my head against the wall for getting involved in it.

As far as Coach goes, I hope he's just pulling everyone's chain.

If you bang your head against a wall, a baby might be aborted in Russia and it will be all your fault (politics section reasoning)

It might be best to leave that forum alone so Riot and Somer and Mike and Genuine Risk can all suck each other off in peace.

Like Math I have been drawn in to the politics room on occasion. I always regret it.

If I want to "discuss" politics, I go to a news/politics board. Here I want to talk (mostly) horses.

Coach, I hardly knew ye.
Really.
Hope you come back, but if not, happy trails.

Don't see why that would be the tipping point as your former lover uses it all the time. Only problem with Clodyee's usage is he directs it at the wrong people.

People come and go for periods of time to the benefit and loss of us all. There are few that have contributed in a memorable way and been here for longer than a white house term. All the ones worth reading and responding to have ruffled a feather enough to make it bleed intentionally or not. Coach is one.......and the force is weaker here for his loss if for nothing else than subtraction of a unique and entertaining voice who made me laugh, think and question while occasionally triggering incontinence......stay thirsty my friend.

jms62 04-09-2011 05:04 PM

Based on what happened today in the Wood. I am begging the Coach to come back for at least 1 day.

Why the hell is Coach leaving?

hi_im_god 04-10-2011 02:56 PM

he apparently used a word that seriously offends americans. even though it's almost replaced "mate" in australia if you can't remember someone's name.

he called me many names over the years. and i always appreciated his unique command of language. it's laughable that anyone still takes serious offense at being called a name on the internet.

if it doesn't really apply to you, what do you care what a stranger said?

randy can call me a moron. timm can condemn me to hell. and it's like water off a ducks back.

but apparently he used a word to describe someone where it was his bad luck to have hit the target.

if he was here, he'd find a way that was short, nasty, and funny to eviscerate this. i'll miss that.

see you next tuesday, coach.

i'm glad you're doing better but it's not the same, curt.

he intended to be offensive and was naturally funny while doing it.

that isn't equal to drunk posting.
