Should be with that Drosselmeyer vote, he had to be high when he clicked that box

justindew 01-20-2011 01:10 PM

Anyone know who voted against Uncle Mo?

JerseyJ 01-20-2011 01:14 PM

Can we strip Jerardi's privliges for voting for Juan Carlos Guerrero for trainer?

slotdirt 01-20-2011 01:15 PM

Who are 99.3 percent of these voters, and why did Abstain and No Vote get so many votes for Horse of the Year? Those people who voted for Abstain and No Vote should have their voting privileges revoked!

Thunder Gulch 01-20-2011 01:20 PM

How about Ellen Parker with the Zenyatta, Goldlkiova, AWESOME FEATHER ballot for HOY? Just to clear it up, she voted for the Mosses and Mike Smith as well.

randallscott35 01-20-2011 01:27 PM

Who doesn't have a vote? What a joke.

slotdirt 01-20-2011 01:32 PM

I can't remember how Eclipse voting is determined - is it points based or how many first place votes a horse gets? If it's the former, Ellen Parker should be investigated.

slotdirt 01-20-2011 01:38 PM

I just did a quick search for Ellen Parker and found that she and, I presume, her husband - a fellow by the name of Ron - both didn't include Blame in their top three. And moreover, what the heck qualified those guys to be eclipse award voters? The fact they have the worst website in history and used web polls at bris.net and DRF to determine that Zenyatta should be horse of the year?

I actually thought it was quite funny.

Who are these people? About 1/2 of them are mysteries to me.

Well a lot of the ones I know voted in a ridiclous manner in some cases. But how can horseracing/NTRA/turfwriters let so many unqualified people vote for year end awards?

Merlinsky 01-20-2011 05:46 PM

Ah, a shocker, Davidowitz and Haskin voted Zenyatta. If they don't have matching "I :{>: Zenyatta" tattoos, they should really consider it. I still smile remembering the epic Byk-Davidowitz flare up that they were fine about and other folks thought was "I'll never speak to that fool again" level. Both of them were like "what's the matter?" Haskin got Z hugs and smooches. Can't blame him one bit (if you'll pardon the word choice there). I found it interesting that Bill Nack went for Blame. Some folks I have a lot of respect for, but a whole lot of people are on here I've never heard of. It's like the Hollywood Foreign Press voting for the Golden Globes with a lot of these names.

Davidowitz was a lost cause...Haskin voting for her....he is Fredo to me now.

Hopefully a more qualified group votes for the Hall of Fame. Or am I just getting my hopes up.

HaloWishingwell 01-20-2011 06:43 PM

Forget AP Indy let Haskins and Davidowitz bang Zenyatta first

Not really........

Here is Ellen Parker's website. http://www.reines-de-course.com/

That woman is so delusional she needs thorazine.

It wouldn't be so bad if she were just another crackpot blogger in need of attention, but she actually submits votes for the Eclipse Awards. She didn't even back up so much as one of her opinions with any facts. Of course, she can vote for whichever horse she wishes, but she should at least support her views without sounding like she took the brown acid.

Here's my favorite part:

There will never be an end to this argument, that much is certain. But we stood willing and ready to resign from the NTWAB if Zenyatta had not finally been given her long overdue gold trophy.

Congratulations, NTWAB. You've given the honor of submitting an Eclipse Awards ballot to someone whose two qualifications are having internet access and an axe to grind.

Over the past two months, I have read a much quoted statement made by Joe Hirsch: "Horse of the Year can be anything you want it be." Yet, somehow, I can't help but think he might be turning over in his grave from this nonsense.

go ahead...ban me for posting the confederate silks travesty...dis lady isanut and i want 2 be as far away from her as humanly possible...
fu&*in zenyattadatta momos(TM)

I disagreed with everything she said, but my point was that it's scary that someone so "off-the-deep-end" has a vote.

Cannon Shell 01-20-2011 10:29 PM

Is it possible that she plagiarized that from a 4th grader?

The HoY means very little in the grand scheme but this is a great example of the flaming incompetence that exists in this sport. How a person with a view of the game like this delusional woman (and presumably her husband as well) can have a say in the determining of our sports year end champions is a disgrace.

ateamstupid 01-20-2011 10:35 PM

Next time Steve has Haskin or Jon White on, I need to remember to call in. This can't be ignored.

Cannon Shell 01-20-2011 10:36 PM

Interesting that Beverly Smith thought that Edward Evans deserved her vote as third best trainer

eajinabi 01-20-2011 11:35 PM

If this was a fan only vote who wins?

If this was a media only vote who wins?

If this was vote limited to Jockeys, trainers and owners only - who would win?

If this was limited to handicappers only vote who would win?

DaTruth 01-21-2011 12:14 AM

This is what someone had to say about Parker on the pedigreequery forum several years ago:

"The only person who considers Ellen Parker an authority on breeding racehorses is Ellen Parker.

You can go to her site and read about some of the matings she found “really exciting” several years ago and then look up those resulting foals today and you see results like “unraced, unplaced, and unraced”."

The list confirms the fact that the awards have turned into a joke. How is anyone to take this seriously with the losers they have given voting power to?
Why don't they just give every horse an HOY trophy? Kinda like those "Participant" ribbons that are given out at school sporting events so no one feels left out.

slotdirt 01-21-2011 08:35 AM

I read Ellen Parker's website a bit yesterday. Unqualified doesn't even begin to describe her. And while Haskin gets a vote, why aren't guys like Crist and Watchmaker on the list? People who actually follow horse racing and not pretty ponies for a living.

I think that was just the horse writers votes, not the drf and ntra
