There are hundreds and hundreds of noms, so no. BRIS has had PPs for possibles in all of the races up for some time. If you're a subscriber, you can get them where you access daily cards.

Two days after pre-entries next Monday.

hockey2315 10-18-2010 10:05 PM

DRF has some pre entry stuff up on Formulator right now. Not really the most expansive list, though.

Race 2- Toss B@T... Press Uncle Moe, back up with Astrology and Stay Thirsty.

Race 3- Toss Goldikova and Paco Boy. Use Rip Van Winkle, Proviso, Courageous Cat and Sidneys Candy.

Race 4- This is gross. Is there enough speed to set up the 2 best horses, Bribon and the Warrior. Likely spread, the 2 closers with Giralomo and Big Drama. Really hope I can form something strong in this race over the next 2 weeks.

Race 5- Fame N Glory, Workforce, Behkabad and Sans Frontieres all look really good to me, hopefully 1 or 2 of them will not go, and then I only have to go 2,3 deep, because I wont be using an American.

Race 6- Because of my love for the GOAT...I might have to include Lucky especially in the bigger pick 4's Ill play, but my mains will be Z and QR.

ugh.

I wonder what B@T to Goldilocks is going to pay.

JerseyJ 10-19-2010 01:23 AM

I'd love to know how anyone thinks that Proviso is suddenly going to sprout wings as that's the only way Proviso beats Goldikova or Paco Boy in the Mile. Proviso is a decent sort but she's been beating up on weaklings here in the US as well as horses who are past their prime, and on top of that she's doing it with perfect trip after perfect trip. Boys At Toscanova I believe is going to pretty darn tough to beat with his tactical speed and running style. Don't think 2 turns is going to be an issue at all for him. Frankly this year's sprint kind of just plain sucks. From what I saw on the BC Advance thing on formulator, there's like no one I have any interest in betting. In fact I would even say that I wish Lukas would enter Hamazing Destiny in here as he's shown an affinity for Churchill, second, on his best day he's good enough to beat this group, and third, he'd be a big bomb, when there doesn't look to be any real intriguing price horse yet to me, kind of like Dancing in Silks last year.

It ain't rocket science...just a perusal of her past performances make me wonder how good she really is. The best race she ever ran from a racing post standpoint was her second career start as a 2YO in winning the Prix du Calvados with a 113 RPR, and she's never got another RPR higher than a 112 since then so she never really moved forward from her 2YO form. She never beat a real horse of significance in Europe as well.

Is someone really that impressed with a win in the Kilroe over Fluke and Battle of Hastings? A win in The Just a Game over Phola and My Princess Jess? A win in the Diana over Shared Account and an over the hill Forever Together? A win in the First Lady against C.S. Silk and Gotta Have Her (although GHH is a nice mare but not really a miler, more of a sprinter)? She's an ok horse but she's going to have to seriously find some real improvement to beat Goldikova and Paco Boy, and an amount that I am not sure a 5YO mare can have in her.

I'm all for trying to beat favorites, but I would suggest actually looking at the PPs with an open mind when they become available. It's well documented that you love Stay Thirsty and dislike BOT, but it seems like you're tossing him only to avenge your wrong opinion about him in the Hopeful. I haven't seen the PPs, but I would be shocked if Astrology has any kind of realistic chance to win the Juvy, even if his debut victory was a key race.

I can't wait to bet Paco Boy. He's 0-3 against Goldikova but the possibility of a fast pace and firmer turf course could be the equalizer.

All turf courses in Europe are firm.

Any guess as to what the Kova/Paco and Paco/Kova exactas pay? I know it's always risky banking on multiple shippers, but they're so much better than everyone else if I can get $15-$16 it might be a box worth making IMO.

You think 3-1 is really fair odds there?

I have been thinking about this and was just gonna ask what ballpark figure you would put it at?

I know you said somewhere else you cant see him being much higher than 5-1 but if Proviso and GioPonti also go, I can see him being 4th favourite at best and being double digits. He is available at 7-1 over here right now.

hockey2315 10-19-2010 04:03 PM

Goldikova is better than Paco Boy - do we really think the possibly firmer turf is going to make a difference. If someone beats her, it'll probably be Sidney's Candy or Gio (barring some up and coming Euro).

The pace is going to make a difference. I'm not saying it's going to hinder her at all, but I think a fast pace is going to help him and it's not like miles are separating the two of them.

You will take 16 bucks in a 10-12 horse field?

Don't you make a living betting the "Other Euro":D

They're in the DRF Formulator PPs. You can find them under the Handicapping header...you need a subscription though.

Yep. They're on another planet from Gio Ponti and Sidney's Candy. Judging by your responses, I'll probably do better than $16, which answers my question.

I dont see how Gio Ponti has a chance, is he going to outkick Gold, Paco, and Proviso? Sidneys Candy is dangerous, what if he totally freaks again, hes the only horse who can still move way up.

cakes44 10-20-2010 10:04 AM

Yeah well Araafa should have been a lock the last time it was at Churchill. There are alot of things that can happen in the Mile, and I'm giving Gio Ponti a big chance here. His kick matches up with these if he can get a trip IMO.

JerseyJ 10-20-2010 10:30 AM

Is this how low we have sunk to actually thinking that our mediocre turf horses have any chance to beat top class European horses on the grass?

Come on, Gio Ponti? He's a neat horse and he's good for an American turf horse but how good is he really...he sure seems to find ways to lose races he should win.

Proviso, seriously? We already went over this. She couldn't get close to Goldikova in Europe and needed to come run against our average turf/synthetic females to start to win. She's really not that good.

And finally, Sidney's Candy. If there's a favorite and likely horse to finish last in the Mile this one is it. He's yet to face even average turf horses let alone true world class quality Milers. He may have the lead early but as soon as the class horses run him down watch him plummet to the back of the pack. If there's one thing I'm confident of in the Mile, it's this horse has zero chance to hit the board, let alone win.
