Championship Day at Belmont
I have a feeling these races are going to be a big disappointment from a betting perspective. Be warned.

A feeling? Your bold B. Its clear the races are horrible. Read the DRF preview article from the other day. The turf races are as bad as they have been in years. The only race even worth watching is the Beldame, if Rachel runs. According to DT.com public god Blame cant lose and is the best horse ever, so I guess the JCGC sucks. |
Rail Trip will probably beat him. . . Keeneland can't come soon enough. Did you get that handicapping job or can I weasel my way in there?
|
I think the Joe Hirsch will be a really good betting race.

I know, Steve. I suck.

Jockey Club Gold Cup (7 of 14 nominated running. Musket Man lost to fever)
Blame (Garrett Gomez) Fly Down (Jose Lezcano) Haynesfield (Ramon Dominguez) Hold Me Back (Rajiv Maragh) Mythical Power (John Velazquez) Rail Trip (Cornelio Velasquez) Tranquil Manner (Alan Garcia) |

How many horses in the Hirsch can actually win?
I'm not a "spoilsport". . . I was really looking forward to this day after the Saratoga letdown, but I just realized it's going to be like it is most years. Maybe the undercard will be good, but Mr. Pippit is running and he won't lose at a short price. |

PoP doesn't deserve to win?

Paddy + Al Khali take up probably 90% of the win percentage.

This is a curious thread.

I hope I'm wrong about the betting part. It should be good as a fan - there are some decent match-ups. The undercard could still be good. |

I didn't mean to make this a place for you to spew bad opinions - i.e. that Paddy isn't good.

Is anyone a little worried that Rachel might not be going in the Beldame? They haven't confirmed that she is and a four furlong bullet today feels a little close to the race considering the way they've been babying here. Maybe I'm crazy.

I'm looking forward to the two year old turf races.

We had this conversation / debate / fight (in a nice way) many many times. I called it The Colonial Colony fight. I think he called it the "a G1 horse isn't the same as a G1 winner" debate. Good times. |

It's a Dead Game laddy, all the value along with field size died when Saratoga ended. Churchill Fall Meet is the next opportunity for value on your betting dollar |
Think about how nice a race the Beldame would be if the Cotillion wasn't the same day.

Having a conversation about whether Paddy O' Prado is a good horse and whether he's a Breeders' Cup Turf horse are somewhat mutually exclusive. He might be the best American turf horse heading into the BC and might get completely decimated given the relative lack of quality in this country in that division. NT |

If you pretended to not know what 'crossed the rubicon' meant - how can you be such a stickler with decimated. Decimated sounds violent. It's a good sounding word in my book. |

I can imagine no place in history that would have been more fun to be than in winning gear right after one of those ancient wars - all set to rape and pillage. I can imagine no place more miserable in history than to be fighting on either side before or during the war. Something tells me that if I was around in those days, I'd figure out a super sneaky way to jump in with the winning side right as they cross the wire. |

Just because such behavior isn't acceptable by society anymore doesn't mean it wouldn't have been fun.
