Admiral Alex in the Travers

http://www.drf.com/news/blusiewicz-c...n-well-travers

Does this guy have a chance?

ateamstupid 08-23-2010 05:57 PM

At the very least, he's an interesting wildcard. I wouldn't put a dime on him at less than 10-1, but I'll be intrigued to see how he runs, not just in the Travers but the rest of the year as well.

You would think he has to be over 10-1, but who knows with the way Kent is talking and getting DRF articles and all...

randallscott35 08-23-2010 06:21 PM

Off odds probably above 12-1 Joe. If Trappe Shot doesn't go maybe under that 10 number.

NTamm1215 08-23-2010 06:25 PM

So in a period of two days Desormeaux said that Paddy O' Prado is the best 3YO in the country and that he should have won the Derby had he not been steadied in traffic at the 1/4 pole then said that he'll be surprised if Admiral Alex doesn't win the Travers?

Has NYRA started the breathalyzer testing yet?

You can hear Blu, along with Tommy Roberts and Kip Elser, for 2 delightful hours recorded this afternoon and airing tomorrow 9a-12p on ATR. Outrageous series of racetrack stories from some legendary characters. Not to be missed.

And based on Blu's career, I wouldn't discount Admiral Alex' chances out of hand Saturday.

randallscott35 08-23-2010 06:32 PM

When you say Blu all I can think of is the old guy from Old School who dies jello wrestling with the topless girls....Then Will Ferrell sings Dust In The Wind. Terrific.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-23-2010 06:37 PM

Admiral Alex has absolutely no shot.

Kent D says otherwise. Ownage.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-23-2010 06:44 PM

Kent D is just trying to give us all a slight one-race takeout reduction.

I agree I think he is legit. This Travers is a lot like the Mambo in Seattle Colonel John debacle.... No stars, but a solid good betting race.

I don't listen to everything that Kent has to say. Especially **** BEFORE the race. I do, however, listen very attentively to what he has to say AFTER a race. He had some very illuminating things to say after both the VA Derby and the Secretariat. In this sense, he's miles ahead of any other jock out there. Ever heard any of Johnny V's post race comments, for example?

blackthroatedwind 08-23-2010 06:51 PM

It's truly amazing that people are talking about Admiral Alex as though he has any shot whatsoever in the Travers.

He doesn't. He is a legitimate 500:1 shot that may well be under 15:1. It's absurd.

Blu is a great guy and one of the great characters at the racetrack. That doesn't change this horse's chances. They are approximately zero.

I actually interviewed Johnny V after a stake win at La Downs last year and I'd probably be more successful getting information out of a mime.

for the first time....i agree with you

i hope he takes a lot of "smart money"

Blu knows he is not facing any "Point Given's" on Saturday. It's a weak crop of 3yo and Blu knows he has a legimate shot to run well. Alex will definately get the distance. Hey OTB personality Jeanne Wood is betting him with her new found money from her "under armour" clothing contract. That should make you "Run" to the window.

Linny 08-23-2010 08:21 PM

Under Armour doesn't give contracts to women shaped like that!:zz:

I will place "courtesy bets" for minimal $ on horses run by Newsdesk guests from time to time. Blu will get one if the horse is a big price. He's such a character that I almost have to but Admiral Alex won't be my Travers choice.

I know because this group is full of killers...
I think your being a bit absurd, I dont really like this horse much, but to say he cant win is crazy. You said multiple times today on air that your kinda cold right now, and you questioned your own opinion.... To say this seems silly, we are not talking about one of the chalks, we are talking about a legit 10 or 15-1 shot.

Anyone know the last time a maiden winner stepped up to win a grade 1 race for 3yo's after April ?

Not sure about that condition, but Tiznow and Bernardini won Grade 3s.

CSC 08-23-2010 09:55 PM

Mine that Bird winning the derby was absurb, Drosselmeyer winning the Belmont was equally mystifying, if I remember correctly not many gave him a chance either, me included. In a game of surprises, nothing would surprise me .

MTB winning the Derby to me is the biggest upset I can ever remember. AA winning the Travers would be up there though.

I never knew you picked Drosselmeyer and Mine That Bird in the Belmont and Derby. You must be light years ahead of us all, my belated congrats. You are a genious...a little after the fact but a genious nevertheless.

Thank you for verifying my post.

Genius.

Oh, and yes, I indeed pick MTB and Drosselmeyer. Ask DrugS. I told him they were stone cold locks, and I told Hossy and Byk as well.

And because I did, I am certain you are a bumbling fool.

I am flattered that I am constantly on your mind, clearly I got to you and get to you, something I said? Better than being ignored, which is what I would do to you if didn't pay so much attention to me.

I agree with you. However, how do we reconcile this 'cluelessness' with the fact that he took down the late p4 yesterday?
