Questions for Zenyatta Fans. . .

1. If Zenyatta is always "toying" with her vastly inferior opponents, then how did she win this year's Apple Blossom by such a convincing margin?

SHES MUCH BETTER ON DIRT, I said that to you 50x last year.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-08-2010 10:11 PM

So much better that you could have timed her Apple Blossom win with a sun dial.

The scary thing about that win - is that the pace was not even slow in relation to the final time. That's her, right now, in an evenly paced dirt race.

hockey2315 08-08-2010 10:11 PM

So her personality. . . or whatever you want to call it. . . changes when she's on dirt? Maybe you should just stay out of this thread. I don't want your head to explode.

Shes better on dirt and her connections suck, what else is there to say?

You must have missed something trying to read this through the tears caused by Doug's betrayal.

I asked--specifically and clearly--how she was able to win a race by 4 1/4 lengths (the surface is irrelevant) if she's always running down to her competition?

RockHardTen1985 08-08-2010 10:15 PM

Ill stay out now, excuse me....Ill try to stay out.

Coach Pants 08-08-2010 10:16 PM

I don't care really. Who does she run against next? Bernie from that popular 80's movie?

knickslions2 08-08-2010 10:17 PM

Face it men, the horse just knows how to win. She is toying with these fields. My favorite Zenyatta moment was in the breeders cup gate when Quality Road looked over and saw her there, crapped himself then bust through the gate to get the hell out of there. She is that good

hockey2315 08-08-2010 10:18 PM

Another worthless response. I should have known better.

I'm a big John Shirreffs fan - and his handling of Zenyatta is the single greatest piece of management of a good horse I've ever seen. Even Bobby Frankel wouldn't dream of handling a good horse like this one has been handled.

However, his handling of her sucks bigtime if you're a serious racing fan who likes to see good match-ups.

Worst of all ... I hate her fans. Her fans I've encountered on facebook have only been like gas on the fire.

pba1817 08-08-2010 10:21 PM

You losers can't even embrace something that is bringing positive attention to your beloved sport... She is great, beat all the best last year in the BCC and will probably be right there again this year with the speed ball pigs who are gonna stop at 1 1/4 in November at CD.

For some reasson your taking personal shots at me, I dont really know why...
So I will say this, Im pretty sure you told me last year Z was better then Rachel. Im also pretty sure you told me Z would like 10f a lot better, we are talking about 12 months now so I might be wrong. There are how many Z threads up right now, this could not fit in somewhere else? The surface is not irrelevant??? WTF, how is the surface not important? Your such a ****ing know it all about everything and I dont think you realize how smug you come off sometimes. If anything I have no problem at all bashing the connections, but I think its clear she likes dirt more, she just moves better over it and seems to win MUCH EASIER.

How do you top this stuff?

Lisa's Booby Trap will win the Breeders Cup Classic - and once she's in the winners circle - she will transform from a horse into the mortal flesh of her trainers dead wife Lisa.

What does this mean?

dalakhani 08-08-2010 10:26 PM

I don't think it's about her personality. I think it's preparation, surface and set up.

The trainer isn't going to have her cranked to beat that crew and with her running style and the way the race set up on that surface she wasn't going to beat them by much.

It's hard not to take personal shots when you come at me with something so weak. . . First of all. . . I NEVER said Z was better. Never ever ever ever. . . Maybe I said she would have won the Woodward.

I was trying to prove a multi-tiered point, but it was stupid of me to try here.

Now listen - one more time.

Many have claimed that the reason Zenyatta only beats her VASTLY inferior opponents (I don't disagree with the inferior part) by small margins in some cases is that she is "toying" with them in some way. . . that she's just so superior that she can keep them behind her by just enough every time without ever really fully extending herself. But, if this theory holds any weight, then why did she win the Apple Blossom by so many lengths? Hmm. . .

There were a few answers that could have been acceptable and held merit, but it's clear that Zenyatta fans, like yourself, are incapable of having an intelligent, rational conversation about her. . . you all kind of sound like religious nuts to me.

Smug enough for you?

That is precisely who I mean jerk off...

These people are the ones you need to entertain.

Do you think that the NFL cares about entertaining the hardcore gambler who will bet on coin tosses and halftime spreads? Or do they care about entertaining the housewife who has 3 kids and will support her team till she is 78yo? All the while buying tickets and merchandise?

I'm going to take a wild stab here, but marketing isn't your chosen profession, correct?

Coach Pants 08-08-2010 10:38 PM

Lisa's Booby Trap will viciously attack Zenyatta in the BCC post parade for giving her man a provocative neigh in the paddock.

Then Captain Ahab will celebrate Boobies stunning win in the BCC by heading over to The Thoroughbred Lounge on Dixie and finding solace in a bottle of Evan Williams and a few rounds of motorboatin.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-08-2010 10:38 PM

Hockey, the simple answer is because she's not toying with anyone.

She was all out in her last two races and clearly laying her body down and straining. The whip was out both times.

It's hard to win by big margins in synthetic races - and even harded when the pacesetters go slow and have some finish left in them.

On dirt - she blew by Taptam and Be Fair because both horses were running early - and you have to run harder throughout on dirt. They are more demanding races - and will be won by margins.

Basically - the notion that she's measuring these horses and could have won by larger margins is competely idiotic.

And this would draw in the WWE fans.

tiggerv 08-08-2010 10:39 PM

The surface is the answer. "Toying" has nothing to do with it.

I think Z is better, I like Rachel. I hope she kills the PE. That's been my stance all along, I respect and appreciate Rachel, but I think Z is better. Pretty simple, no?

the nfl isn't funded by gamblers. not much of a comparison between the biggest sport in the country and horse racing, which is absolutely funded by gamblers and doesn't have the tv saturation and marketing. racing doesn't need people seeking entertainment, it needs people willing to lay some money down on the horses.
a big crowd showed at del mar yesterday, but how was the handle?

I'm a supporter and I've never made the case that she 'toys' with fields. But I've "answered" your question on a number of occasions. Z has run significantly more wipeouts than an other horse I've charted. What's significant about this is that wipeouts are much more prevalent on dirt (especially off tracks) than on turf or poly. If she wipes em out so prolifically on poly, it's easy to see why both her dirt races have been pronounced wipeouts. It makes sense; really.

You put a lot of undue wear-and-tear on my scroll-wheel.

Who cares about fly by night racing fans/pretty horsey people who don't bet and have no interest in even learning how to handicap?

Tommy Brady's so cute and the New England Patriots are 18-0 - Yay!!! I'm a football fan now!!

I would be willing to wager that the handle was better than any Saturday of the meet so far. Isn't that the point? To increase handle?
