Chasm rolling along; Lloyd going better..

Nice to be at Belmont this morning to watch Lloydobler and Ausable Chasm go through their work. Chasm was out on the training track for a 2 mile gallop, and continues to do beautifully. She'll work another half mile on Thursday after last week's :49.0 breeze in company, and is on schedule for a debut before the end of the Belmont meet.

Lloydobler has been moving much better after treatment to his left stifle last week, and galloped his 2 miles on the Belmont main track. With the warmer weather, it has become apparent that part of what has been bothering Lloyd may involve his being a colt, and consideration is being given to having him gelded. Dr. Hunt thinks it's the right move, and a decision will be made as soon as tomorrow. He looks terrific physically, and has really filled out even since the begining of the year. His next start may well be in a turf sprint, and should come later this month.

Both Lloydobler and Ausable Chasm will look to make a start or two at Saratoga, which based on the experience at the Spa with Sumwonlovesyou in 2007, should be special. More from Belmont as the week unfolds.

I have talked to Lloyd. He told me he would like to keep his junk. FYI

There is a good chance that I may make it down tomorrow morning as well.

herkhorse 06-03-2010 07:06 AM

Oh no!, Lloyd lost his doblers!

Kasept 06-03-2010 09:27 AM

AUSABLE CHASM was the first worker after the harrow break Thursday on the Belmont main, breezing 3f officially in :36.3 but working an actual half mile in :48.3. She finished up very well and galloped out strongly for nearly another quarter mile before pulling up. The work received a 1 of 5 bullet. More on how she exited the work after checking in at the barn.

LLOYDOBLER was bright and alert last evening after being gelded and fine this morning. He'll walk the shed today before returning to the track Friday. The offending parties are resting comfortably on the barn roof..

Lamb fries?

Frost King 06-03-2010 10:10 AM

Best angle at the track, is a first time gelding. It shows a flat bet profit. Next time he runs, just send it in.

Very nice visit this AM. Ausable looked great and was super professional working without company. She has a great personality and seems very mature for being a 2YO.

Lloyd seemed (all most) every bit of his usual self and ready to head back to the track.

He wasn't circumcisized. The hood is intact.

Lloyd was back on track jogging today and went well. Will be back into full training next week.

Chasm exited her work in good order and absolutely got something out of it as she left a bit of her supper last night and was resting this morning. She walked today and will likely walk tomorrow.

TouchOfGrey 06-04-2010 01:32 PM

Glad to hear Lloyd is recovering and everyone is doing well.

Ausable Chasm worked a half mile in :49.2 (12th of 32) yesterday on a heavy, slow Belmont Training Track. She galloped out strongly, and continues to do well. The morning was not without incident however, as later in the barn Chasm kicked Rosemary and broke her arm...

Lloydobler continues to gallop daily and his hind end and action in behind has been 100% better post-gelding.

keithting 06-12-2010 09:22 AM

Hey, is that a Missus Mayflower sighting on the Philly Park work tab for this morning ???

Great to see her back in action !!!!!

She went an easy 3/8th in her first work back from her shin issue. Will work again next Friday or Saturday.

Completely Rosemary's fault taking Chasm's coolout blanket off her from the back. Hard to believe as long as Rosemary has been rubbing horses that she'd do something that hazardous.

I meant to post that the name change is official with The Jockey Club and she is in their system now as AUSABLE CHASM!
