There just isn't enough horses based in SoCal to run 5 days a week. |
If they were smart and they arent they would just run 3 days a week....add a day here and there for holidays and such.

How do you pay the bills for 7 day a week training when there are 26 or so races run? |

If I were a trainer, though, that's where I'd want to be (if they went back to dirt.) |

If they did sat and sun and ran 16....you would still not see full fields for very long as everyone would be gone. |

The reason the model does not work if you are an owner is the cost, the gov in socal has some many regulations to meet the cost is ridiculous, its not the labor. There is very little incentive to me to have a big stable in socal. People still bet the brand name. Dirt or no dirt has little affect on this, problem started about 1990ish. |
