Kagan ?
|
Like I said before wish he'd take the same approach to hiring pilots. Maybe someone w/o the restrictions of training could do better is all I'm saying and save the world by saving fuel taking a more direct route etc etc…! Who knows better than one with no experience?

Finally - some eye candy on the Supreme Court

just off the top of my head reagan nominated sandra day o'connor as a justice and eisenhower earl warren as chief justice, both with no experience on the bench. thurgood marshall was another. it's a good thing to have someone who hasn't spent their entire career dealing with other lawyer's only as supplicant's. i'm more concerned with what it signals about our society that with stevens gone, there'll be no veteran of the armed forces on the supreme court. elites just don't serve any more. the republicans will do what they must to rally their base but ultimately the court is more conservative after 2 obama appointee's than it was before. he's gone with 2 safe picks. i don't expect much of a fight. |
Maybe I'm just in a foul mood but I get so goddamned tired of the typical bashing that occurs with female nominees. She isn't attractive, she's masculine. Now we just need that she looks like a bitch for it to be complete. Ridiculous. Think about what is said about a nomd guy, and then the posts above. Think of what most remarks are about palin, or hillary and cankles. So frustrating!!

I don't recall any comments about a guys looksa in a similar situation. None. Obama was questioned about experience. Palin was talked about as being a milf. Can't remember ever seeing a reference to a 'dilf'.

Just what America needs, another Harvard genius like the ones who have been running what's left of this country for the past 30 years.
Whatever. |
I didn't think I would see another nominee as week as Harriet Miers, but sure enough here we go. Of course if you want to send up a radical socialist you would tend to go with a person with little record to go on. Most likely another trojan horse like Obama.

Senator Inofe is opposing her. That is no surprise but I think he makes some good points. Here is a piece of what he had to say about her:
“While her service as the Dean of Harvard Law School is an impressive credential, decisions she made in that role demonstrated poor judgment. While there, she banned the U.S. military from recruiting on campus, an issue very important to me. She took the issue even further when she joined with other law school officials in a lawsuit to overturn the Solomon amendment, which was adopted by Congress to ensure that schools could not deny military recruiters access to college campuses. Claiming the Solomon Amendment was ‘immoral,’ she filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in Rumsfeld v. F.A.I.R opposing the Amendment. The Court unanimously ruled against her position and affirmed that the Solomon Amendment was constitutional." That is from Senator Inofe's website. http://inhofe.senate.gov/public/inde...6-e0c7020cdff5 |

I have a ton of respect for her doing that.. and I love the military. DADT is embarassingly immoral. |
I don't care what she looks like. I don't care what her sexual practices are. She's a liberal replacing a liberal. Did anyone expect anything different?!~

Exactly and nope |
of course no one expects anything different. not regarding the pick, or the reaction to the pick.

Talk about immoral. It was immoral for her to try to restrict access to campus to a group that is entitled by law to have access to the campus. |
I wonder how many Harvard students enlist per year? Seems to me she probably, inadvertently saved the military the time and cost of travel. Almost Nobel Prize worthy!

AND, she didnt ban them from campus.. She banned them for having an office building on campus. She had every right to stand up for her school's policy and for what is right. If people never stood up for what is right, nothing good would ever happen. |
