Let Esken win the Derby before we give him the Triple Crown.

I'm certainly not saying that I agree that Eskendereya is going to win the Triple Crown (or even the Derby) but he is the only one coming into this year's Derby off of an impressive spring.
In 2005 that wasn't the case. Bellamy Road's Wood certainly had people excited, but so did the final preps of Afleet Alex and Bandini.

You missed my point completely. I am not saying he wins the Triple Crown I am saying this year sets up more than most for a Triple Crown winner as you have 1 horse that is far better than the rest.

It wasn't too many years ago that 30-1 was available on the "Yes". Those high YES odds were huge sportsbook blunders, since unless the Derby winner broke down immediately after the race, it was always going to be possible to buy back the "NO" after the Derby for a substantial hedged profit.

that horse should of won it ! this is whats wrong with the thread. you can be miles better and lose one of these races especially the derby and the belmont! when will people realize they call this gambling for a reason?

Afleet Alex doesn't lug in with a few jumps left and he's probably your first Triple Crown winner since 1978. That being said, I know there are many DT-ers who don't think much of Afleet Alex.

I still can't believe he didn't go down in the Preakness. A truly athletic horse. And he was very good short and long. I was impressed. Not as much as by Smarty but yes.

I was hoping someone would ask...both.:D
