I have no plans to see it but it has a huge cult following on the net. Samuel L Jackson is an excellent actor as is that girl from ER who's name I can't spell!

Yeah....I like Samuel Jackson...but not enough to sit through what looks like....words can't even describe how bad this movie looks John.

Funny thing is...Jackson insisted on making it! They were gonna change the title and he said he'd pull out if they did! For whatever reason, he thinks highly of the movie. As I said, it developed a huge cult following on the net...but then, so did Serenity and it bombed at the box office...also, Serenity was a great movie!

Yep, that's why we have more than on channel on the TV. Personally, I'll probably see this movie once it comes out on DVD or on TV. Haven't been to a movie since Underworld: Evolution...too damn expensive for me!

I don't think Serenity developed a huge cult following on the net, Somer.

Definitely not like Snakes on a Plane.

Just because a passel of geeks are infatuated with anything that this Whedon guy puts out doesn't designate a "huge cult following."

Snakes on a Plane has been making fun of itself before production even began, and will be helped by every media outlet making fun of how campy it is also.

I have no plans of seeing it either..however, if my friend, Merkey, would lend me his Burmese python (9 ft) and the boa (7 ft) for an evening, and I didn't have to tell him where I was going with them (guess?)...it would be a night to remember. All I would have to do is figure out how to sneak them in past the popcorn and candy stand. They're much too big to fit inside my pants...
and suitcases would get picked off in the lobby.
Suggestions?

And just because some jerk who likes to take cheapshots at me posts some crap designed solely to provoke doesn't make it worthwhile...I could care less whether you like Joss's work, or whether you have the capacity to even appreciate it. Regarding "Snakes"...we'll see how it does at the box office, I wish it well but whether it will find a mainstream audience remains to be seen. It has two advantages over Serenity...better marketing and a "household name" star.

chupster2 08-18-2006 06:29 PM

It's been getting some good (and they seem really surprised they think it is good) reviews.

I'm not taking cheapshots, it is true.

It isn't like you are going to present an unbiased opinion of anything to do with Serenity, or Buffy, or anything else that Whedon is involoved with.

I'm not provoking you, just stating facts. The Whedon stuff is geeky, and it has a self-admitted "geek" following.

You assuming that I might not "have the capacity" to appreciate this douche-bag type material is proof enough.

Quit being such a c u nt, Somer. No one cares about Joss fuc k ing Whedon or witches.

Only a fool presumes to speak for others...when you say "no one cares" you are only showing your own bias, in fact...some folks are fans like me, and some are Wiccan. Certainly most aren't, but while I'm willing to let you ramble on about whatever might interest you, you feel the need to make snide comments and attempt to ridicule me. Wasted effort cause I don't care. Just to set the record straight, the "geek" label was given more to fans of Star Trek and Star Wars...since "geek" tends to imply intelligence, it's probably not the worst name to be called. Whedon's work speaks for itself, as does the level of support it receives throughout academia, as I have posted many times...you want to ridicule those who find his work worthwhile, try the Slayage site...folks there would be amused. You might adopt a slightly different vocabulary though....

This is a great movie. I was totally shocked because I thought it would suck. But it was very entertaining. Definately go see this movie in the theatre.

GenuineRisk 08-18-2006 11:46 PM

Yeah, I'm going to see it on Sunday. Truth be told, I can't wait! I'm a sucker for camp. It'll be the perfect counterpoint to my Friday night-- I went to see the Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park's second show of the summer (not Shakespeare)- "Mother Courage and Her Children" which is A) Brecht and B) 3 hours long. But it stars Meryl Streep and I have to say, she was AMAZING. Also stars Kevin Kline, but he's not as good and I dozed off during his big number. And I saw Tom Hanks in the audience!

So darn it, I've had my culture and now I want some snakes on a motherf*cking plane...

These encompass my wife's two most horrifying phobias. I love it. She could not even watch the preview. I almost spit up my one beer when I watched it. Great stuff. Hiliarious.

Man what is up with the attitude? Moodwalker is a perfect moniker.

Plus, I like snakes.

Hee hee. And chupster2, thanks for the advance word-- it can be very disappointing to expect something from a movie and not get it so now I'm geared up for "fun." I still remember seeing "Punch Drunk Love" in the theater with a guy in the audience who assumed it was a typical Adam Sandler film...

I'm away from the computer the rest of the day, filming a friend's project. I'll check back in tomorrow. Have a great Saturday, everyone!

GenuineRisk 08-20-2006 05:38 PM

I just got back from seeing it. Holy cow; I'm exhausted. Go see this movie. It's HILARIOUS. I loved it.

GenuineRisk 08-20-2006 05:59 PM

In fact, I'm already ready for the sequel, which I can only hope will be "Pigs In a Blanket."

pgardn 08-20-2006 11:05 PM

If they check closely for terrorists bringing massive snakes on board, they are going to have to pat down Kev for that big hose monster he keeps in his trousers.

Oh the humanity...

I wasn't interested in seeing this movie, but if it's as funny as Gen Risk is saying, I may have to go and see it. I could use a good laugh.
