Prayers for him and his family. That's terrible. :(

chucklestheclown 01-05-2010 01:13 AM

Oh &%$*. I hope he recovers quickly.

Round Pen 01-05-2010 05:13 AM

I was in the Paddock when it happened Sunday I had my back to it when it happened But it was very Loud. DC laid there motionless For a few moments but I could see his Eyes were Open And he was talking Too Emergency Personel. Please say a Prayer or Two For Daniel that was a very scary Situation.

I see the latest Update on the DRF says DC is still In ICU if anyone has a more thorough update Please Post it. On a positive Note He did Give everyone a thumbs Up as they Were taking him to The Ambulance.

Patrick333 01-05-2010 06:45 AM

Our prayers are with him.

Rudeboyelvis 01-05-2010 10:35 AM

Town and Country Hospital??:zz:  :zz:

Probably the closest one to the track, but Tampa General has a world class trauma unit.

Thoughts and prayers go out to he and his family. I used him twice last meet to ride for us - super great guy and a very astute jock.

Horrible to hear this happened.

I was transported to Town and Country when I broke my leg in Tampa....I survived (I was there for about a week). We were in that race he getting on the 2 horse and we were the 3 horse. He got kicked HARD, everyone went to help him EXCEPT the ambulance and paramedics. They sat in their vehicle right off the gap clueless as to what was going on. The ambulance they called in arrived before the horses made it to the starting gate. I felt terrible for the poor guy. On another note the horse that kicked him was a first time starter and had some sort of seizure in turn heading for home. I am not sure if he made it.

Good news. Gotta love those protective vests.

chucklestheclown 01-05-2010 01:11 PM

Now I can say he was on fire before that happened.

Revidere 01-05-2010 03:55 PM

A friend of mine in my office just spoke with him on the phone. He's doing well and looking to ride soon.

I saw that as we had the 4 and 8 in the race We stopped Going back to the barn area where the Horse was down At he was having Very Violent Seizures and I thought for sure he would Be Put Down. But I Did Hear today the Horse did Eventually Get Up and make it back to the Barn.

Holy crap. And here I am b#%^&ing about my hands being chapped from the cold to the point they're bleeding, no matter how much lotion I slap on there. I'm such a wimp compared to this guy.

not only that but they have nerves of steel. this is why i get irked when people complain about losing their crummy bet. or the posts on here "that stupid jockey cost me". (when i'm at the simulcast theres some guys that blame the jockey almost everytime they lose:confused: ) they risk life and limb everyday so you can have the privledge of gambling on it. next time you want to bitch...think about what these folks go through.....he was lucky....many of these stories don't have a happy ending. you can always get in another bet, these people can't replace a life or a spinal chord. not saying i don't get frustrated sometimes, but, i get over it real quick after thinking about it .

You haven't lived until you've seen a seizure brought on by an allergic reaction, to a vaccine or otherwise. So what makes you so sure what the cause of this horse's seizure was? I know they've had plenty of outbreaks and quarantines there in the past month and therefore I'm sure many horses got vaccinations they otherwise would not have.

Round Pen 01-09-2010 04:34 AM

As I said the other Day I watched this Unfold As we were going Back to the Barn Area and this had to be the Most Violent Seizure that I have ever seen And I was for certain that the would be Put Down. But Low and Behold I was told the Horse survived. I actually Talked to One of the State Vets Yesterday and they still had no Ideal what brought this On. THe vet Even Told me He had never seen Anything quite like that.

I know Hind sight is 20/20 But as I think Back that horse was acting very Unsettled in THe Paddock THe WHole time Prior To Kicking Daniel and I know alot of horses Act that way especially 1st time starters But I just have to Wonder Was the Horse trying to Tell Us Something????????
