I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because LeBron tends to hang with douches (Clarett)

This will turn out to be a great deal for The Jets.

However, what is his contract status?

He's a free agent after the season. If there is no new labor deal he would be restricted, with a new labor deal he would be unrestricted.

Can't hurt.

Depends on what the draft picks are. At a 3rd and a 5th it will only hurt a little in the worst case. If they gave up a 2nd it would hurt a little more.

MaTH716 10-07-2009 09:27 AM

Good Trade as long as he doesn't get suspended and they re-sign him.

somerfrost 10-07-2009 09:32 AM

If he can hold onto the ball...good deal. Had to get him out of Cleveland, hopefully a fresh start will be good for all.

NTamm1215 10-07-2009 09:34 AM

I'm just hoping the dog turd does something. I had him on my fantasy team last year and he was absolutely atrocious. I took him again this year figuring it was a fluke and it looked like he and Brady Queer had good chemistry.

It gives Sanchez a legitimate downfield target and should open up even more with the running game. He desperately needed a fresh start, so I think it's a pretty damn good deal for the Jets.

Braylon Edwards is simply the best WR ever to put on a uniform.

It's a wonder he didn't kill the poor guy, you know, since he has hands of stone!

ateamstupid 10-07-2009 01:36 PM

Mixed feelings. I think he's overrated, drops a ton of passes, has major personal issues and I liked Stuckey and Trusnik.

On the other hand, I'd probably take Keyshawn back if he could still be a deep threat for this team.

Basically I'm withholding judgment.

Chuck, 35-6. 35-6.

Those two may be the key to the trade. Edwards for a 3rd and a 5th is a pretty good deal. If losing those two hurts the Jets though then coupled with the picks it is a lot more questionable. You have to figure a 3rd and 5th are the sort of guys that would be big time special teams contributers in the next couple years so they may be sacrificing a lot in the special teams department for the potential to upgrade on offense.

Stuckey's a solid slot receiver, not much more and Trusnik is a terrific special teams player, not much more. My guess is Tannenbaum felt that with Izzo, Wallace Wright, Brad Smith, etc., we'll be OK on specials. I'm also guessing he didn't want to give up Stuckey, but Mangini didn't want a total loss at the position.

I honestly don't care if Edwards catches a million passes, if he hauls in a deep throw or two per game and keeps the drops to a minimum, I'll be happy. That way defenses can't double Cotchery and/or put 8-9 in the box to stop TJ, Leon and Shonn.

As you can see I'm already trying to talk myself into liking this.

There are a lot of all-pros that were drafted in rounds 3-5. Not to mention the teams get 4 years of control for peanuts. Lots of great teams were built through the draft, I dont remember any being built by trades and FA signings. The only way this is good for the Jets is if the dog starts to play to his potential, realizes that he isnt a star and dosent deserve star treatment and leads the Jets deep in the playoffs.

I dont remember. Joey will.
But.......
Sanchez is seemingly a franchise QB. Edwards is a disgruntled, overrated, diva WR. Clearly Cleveland wanted him gone and it looks like they got a decent return. They suck with him and they will suck without him. The next Browns coach will appreciate the picks.

No, just '09 first and second plus the three backups.

D'Brickashaw, and now D'Brickahands? It's a shame, I thought he had the world by the balls when he was coming out of Michigan. I hope the change of scenery can do him some good, although I'm more eager to see how Stuckey does with the wideout-less Browns.

The guy did get almost 1,600 yards and 16 TDs in '07. He was one of the few that season to get anything significant on Revis Island. I'm not expecting that guy, but with a very good WR in Cotch on the opposite side, somewhere between his '07 and '08 is achievable.

Yeah but if LeBron signs with the Knicks next year he will chase him out of town again.

Maybe Rex can link up with Doc Emmet Brown and try to lease the DeLorean so that he can revert back to '07 form. If it works, I wonder if he will ship it to Westbrook, Ladanian, and Housh.

Braylon played his balls off, I'm encouraged. You clowns are ridiculously lucky that Cotchery, Sheppard and Strickland were out. You can't possibly think you retards have a prayer at the playoffs. Henne is a Grade A p-u-s-s-y, our defense did an awful job against the wild-q-u-e-e-r. That's all there is to it. I'll bet anybody on the board a grand that the Jets won't lose in the next three weeks. F-a-g-s. Poser ass chumps.

Henne is 1-0 versus the Jagoffs

Oooooooohhhhhh Cotchery, Jonathan Sheppard and Rod Strickland were out......LOL

We may not have a prayer at the playoffs but we will beat your sorry, overrated asses twice.

I think he meant Lito.. not sure. But still, Lito really isnt all that special.

Upset I fell asleep right after Phils game because watching SC this morning, it looked like a real thriller.

There's a good possibility that the Jets are better than the Phins and it was weird to hear about the Jets D struggles. Good to see Rex Ryan get pissed though, I doubt the D will let anyone walk over them like that again.

Overrated. Miami's offensive line dominated them. This was no fluke. If it wasnt for a lucky fake punt and a phantom pass interference call it wouldnt have been this close.

the Jets are a pretty good team but when Miami beats New orleans in 2 weeks we will revisit NYJ vs MIA again. As a matter of fact if Tony Soprano hadnt fcked up the colts game where Miami outplayed Indy, the Dolphins would be in control of the division.

Colorado Rockies have done enough
