Charlie Rangel

I will give Charlie the benefit of the doubt on all his mistakes. I don't want to believe he hid all that income. In good faith should he not resign as it appears he has no understanding of the tax code?, why should the american citizen have to be held accountable for understanding the entire tax code when the chairman of the ways and means doesn't even know what counts as income or not?

Coach Pants 09-01-2009 08:35 AM

He's sorry.

timmgirvan 09-01-2009 08:49 AM

Pelosi has been blocking the bringing of charges against Rangel, who is the most crooked politician in history!

I suppose that would be considered racist so Pelosi should offer to kill herself also. And just to be non-partisan we will offer up Jeb Bush to also kill himself.

you are aware that history covers the entire world, and thousands of years?

besides, you forgot the savings and loan debacle-john mccains name came up in that one. you also have local and state officials, such as jefferson from La who had money in the freezer and just got convicted on bribery charges. there are so many to chose from. now, if you wanted to say one of the more crooked of our time, no one would probably take issue with your statement. but since he's yet to even have any real investigation or charges, it's hard to say at this point that he's really done anything-that whole innocent til proven guilty thing. but then, with the senators getting sweet deals from countrywide getting off the hook.....you have to wonder just how good congress is at keeping its house in order.

not to quibble, but generally meant politicians in this country, and did I mention Pelosi blocking investigations?

timmi, i think you'd be hard pressed to find that one political party is any more corrupt or loathe to investigate it's own than the other. you have a huge bias, which is probably why everyone tends to give you more of a hard time when you post in this room. no one group is purely good, while the other is purely evil.

Actually, whether I have a specific bias is irrelevent if the statements I say are true. Even Libs have their moments. All I did was point out the fact that
Rangel is still running part of govt(while the leader of House stalls any action)
I am unaware of any such Rep that has been given such leisure while charges continue to build against him.

then you must not pay attention. as for your bias being irrelevant, i would disagree-you are stating as fact that both sides don't get treated the same, when in fact they do. they engage in these behaviors, and sometimes they get caught-they being POLS-regardless of party.

so name some.....
I disagree with your assessment......seems like Reps err with sex entanglments and Dems(with the exception of Bubba) just steal the citizen blind!

Um ... that stealing part goes both ways. For example, the last four year of US dollars given by our government to Iraq, to help them "rebuild the country", given with zero accountability?

Billions, just "gone".

And Haliburton.

i'm not surprised you disagree at all. you suggested your bias didn't affect your opinions, but if your bias skews your perspective-as it does-then obviously it will affect everything you think about your party.

as i mentioned a few posts ago, john mccains name was all over that savings and loan scandal back a few years.
then there's iran contra, nixon and watergate-none of those are sex scandals. i'm pretty sure that while keating and company were taking their lumps, mccain remained in office. reagan did his eight, nixon chose to resign but was pardoned by his former vp....etc, etc
