Sold to Tagg/Lael so apparently his dirt days are a few... I figure the Nat Museum is next..

hockey2315 08-01-2009 07:18 AM

Didn't Lael have him before the last start?

Yes they did.

If Quality Road wins this, he is the best 3 yr old in the country.

King Glorious 08-02-2009 12:35 AM

The Captain is the one I like.

A big IF. He'll be bet down as quickly as Unbridled Heart yesterday. Coming off that time, against this field, a good bet against here.

Hoist Her Flag 08-02-2009 10:15 AM

good field

Everyday Heroes is going to be tough.

Welcome back.

Your predictions have been sorely missed around here.

I like him and think it could be a epic battle in The Travers.

I know a few people who are really high on him.

Yeah, sure he is. I'm a big fan of Quality Road despite the fact he's now in Pletcher's barn. I hope he comes back well, but he won't be the best 3 year old by any means.

I wonder if all those who proclaimed UH a 'fast' horse (Godlike status for the Beyerites) after his 1st race were forced to resign their posts as 'bonafide' handicappers after his brutal performance yesterday.

His 101 beyer first out is questionable IMO. The second and third place finishers were Premium Gold and Amped. They are a combined 5/29... Amped is now a clamier and Premium Gold appears to be a turf horse. There is not 1 notable horse that he defeated that day. Also the day he broke his maiden 5/10/08 there appeared to be a big speed bias early on in the card. Races 1,2,3 and 5 the winner was never more then 2 lenghts off the lead. I will point out that later in the card the track seemed to change....

Well maybe the best 3 yr old COLT but not the best 3 yr old.

So how much does a quarter of dro go for up there?

RockHardTen1985 08-03-2009 03:53 PM

3 min....

I hope we see the real Quality Road, this group is decent, but if hes ready it wont matter.

Sightseek 08-03-2009 03:54 PM

Could someone please post the results afterwards? Thanks :)

Candyman was 2nd

FlBred 08-03-2009 04:01 PM

ArlJim78 08-03-2009 04:01 PM

For the love of the game come on Owner's and Trainer's get your boys and Girls into the Travers and have an all out battle. If these owners and trainer really want to do what's right for this sport then Aug. 29th should look like this :

Quality Road, (Fla Derbyand would have been a Ky Derby Favorite)
Mine That Bird (Ky Derby Winner)
Ra. Alexandra ( Preakness, Haskell)
Summer Bird ( Belmont Stakes)
Kensei ( Jim Dandy Stakes )

Make it happen.

I would also like to see Warriors Reward with a pace to run at. He might go Kings Bishop though.

The horse who won the last dirt race prior to the Asterdam had run 87's a couple times but never higher - and got 7 furlongs in 1:21.71

1:13.45 for 6.5 furlongs would equate to a Beyer figure 20 points faster.

Assuming the 7 furlong filly got to her career top, which is a fairly safe assumption, Quality Road's Beyer would be a 107 .. slightly below the 111 and 113 in his two prior starts ... but solid none the less.

All we need now is I Want Revenge to come back ... and we'd have the only two males from this 3yo crop who are any good.

I agree would like to see that as well.

fpsoxfan 08-03-2009 04:18 PM

It was great to see him run again. It puts a little more excitement into the summer and fall. I hope they run him in the Travers.

I think that has been the plan the whole time.
Hopefully he comes out of this ok.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-03-2009 04:22 PM

They should run him in the King's Bishop.

Between you and Cannon Shell - I'm starting to get worried.

107 seems reasonable based on the grouping, but I'm just not used to seeing six and one half going under 1:07 and 1:14. the horse was within himself too. really good comeback.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-03-2009 04:40 PM

yeah - the track is very fast.
