Rachel Alexandra a go for Mother Goose

Per Dave Grening and NYRA racing office... 6/27.

letswastemoney 06-17-2009 03:20 PM

Easy exacta opportunity. Put RA over a longshot or two :)

HaloWishingwell 06-17-2009 03:22 PM

good luck with that bet in a four horse field

You just have to hit it a couple of times, but I believe it's a good bet.

Staying true to your name.

Gabbys Golden Gal should run there too

She's a lock to have a better finishing position against Rachel than she did in the Ky Oaks.

Didn't they treat her with steroids after her last race when she overheated? Will she have to wait 30 or 60 days for it to be out of her system?

Travis Stone 06-17-2009 04:01 PM

Big favorites over longshots are nifty way to make $... look @ the Ky. oaks exacta with Rachel... it paid very well.

At least she will finish a lot less further back than 40 lengths as she did in the Oaks.

HaloWishingwell 06-17-2009 04:09 PM

exacta probables with the other three horses
$4, $6 and $7 ....time to retire:rolleyes:

Really like her too.. Missed the "boat" in her last race...Meant to put a nice chunck on her and fell asleep. woke up right when they were coming out of the gate.. I wanted to cry when I saw what she went off at. :wf

I did not even consider Gabbys Golden Gal in her last race. I could not really think she would have turned a total 180 after losing her previous by 40 lengths

Lava 06-17-2009 07:37 PM

Nice looks like a trip to Belmont Park for me:D

blackthroatedwind 06-17-2009 07:45 PM

I imagine the Acorn winner's next start will be either the Prioress or the Test.

Flashing, a Pletcher horse who's name escapes me, and very possibly Don't Forget Gil are lined up as competition as of now.

I guess you still have a problem with Jess running her in this spot? If she jogs do you want her to continue crushing filly's? Do you want to see her in the Coaching Club and Alabama?

Yes She's a Lady?

blackthroatedwind 06-17-2009 07:55 PM

Thanks. Isn't she the horse that won a NW2X by ten and beat, among others, Olde Glamour?

The Deceit stakes on May 13th. 96 Beyer.

blackthroatedwind 06-17-2009 07:59 PM

Flashing is no slouch either. Should be a good race.

Judge Smells is back in training?

Marketing Rachel

Co-owner Jess Jackson's announcement Wednesday that Rachel Alexandra would make her next start in the Grade 1 Mother Goose here on June 27 gives the New York Racing Association more than a week to promote the race.

And promote it they shall.

According to Neema Ghazi, NYRA's director of marketing, several things are in the works to alert fans of Rachel Alexandra's New York debut. Ghazi said an e-mail blast will be sent out to 50,000 fans in the Tri-state area, promoting the race. Ghazi said there will be free admission to all women on Mother Goose Day, and there will be a giveaway of 10,000 pink bracelets with Rachel Alexandra's name on them.

Ghazi said NYRA hopes to have a presence on both of New York's sports radio stations, as well as several advertisements in Long Island-based newspapers and an online presence on the industry's three major trade websites.

NYRA.com will soon launch something called Rachel's Sandbox, which will offer lifetime past performances as well as video links to her races. It will be similar to Curlin's Corner, which NYRA used last year to promote Curlin's three races in New York.

Last year, a crowd of 6,184 attended the races the day the Mother Goose ran with four horses. The Mother Goose shared billing with the Grade 1 Suburban. This year it is a stand-alone event.

In more ways than one.

That horse was a monster!

There probably aren't too many people who remember him running here.

He won his debut by like 10 lengths, beating professional maiden, at the time, Ferdinand into third.

He also pummeled the unlucky Old Bid in one of his starts too. Old Bid was from an early crop of Spectacular Bid and cost between 1-1.5 million as a yearling.

He retired three for three with his only brush with defeat coming at Los Alamitos, of all places!

I know he was quite a slouch

What are you talking about? Do me a favor and don't put words in my mouth. When did I even speculate on Rachel Alexandra and this particular spot? I'm certainly happy to see her come to NY to drive a big day at the turnstiles. Let her come back for every opportunity through Beldame.

But since you're on the topic and depending upon who shows up as competition, don't be surprised if Rachel Alexandra struggles here.

i agree. yes, it will be great for belmont and racing "buzz" . betting wise its a joke. people are excited about putting her on top in a exacta. now i know why i do so well at the track! the only bet i could make in that race is a bet against her on top, or save my money because something else on that card will be 10 times better. heres one, RA with all, the highest exacta will pay 12.60, maybe.

So what's wrong with that? Is that $12.60 for $2?

Play a $20 exacta and you have $126.00. If there's a 5 horse field, and the second choice isn't a clear lock, then I don't see why this isn't a poor bet.

A few races back if you could eliminate Just Jenda and eliminate another filly whose name escapes me....then Afleet Deceit looked logical for second.

Well since the brilliantly successful Hal Wiggins was pointing her for the tiarra I figured you endorsed her in this spot. Who the f is going to challenge her Just a lame whistle? I suggest Jess has done everything right. He bought her for a fair price, won the the Preakness, will race her in a few spots against slug fillies , and then give her a shot to win the classic. Hal wiggins
, the trainer who has a ROI of negative 3, would have done what?

Steve enlighten us all on Zenyattas issues so we all can be in the know on what you and Dottie have been keeping from us all..lol
