I like the 2 for value as well. Desormeaux's only mount of the day. Thinking about taking a shot with a 4x3x2x1x3 $0.50 P5.

I'm unconvinced on Passion today.. May be using this as a tightener for the U.N., and won't be that much better of a price than the logical/obvious 1 and 4. And Precious Passion is going to get pressure on the front end too..

I don't get leaving the 5th on the turf but taking two off in the Pick 4 sequence on a day where the courses will dry as it wears on. The guarantee shouldn't be a problem but I just don't understand the cherry-picking of which ones are off.

An educated guess is that it's a function of which fields they think will be the least decimated by scratches. Both the 7th and 10th have several "dirt" horses in the respective fields, either in the body of the race or as MTOs and, as a result, are still likely to end up with fields of 8 to 10 horses. The other races would likely draw fewer horses if they took them off the turf.

Does it matter? NYRA turf SUCKS today compared to CD, MTH, and DEL, etc. It's a ****in Saturday, is this the best they can do? I can get claiming race just about anywhere.
And, this taking races off **** is just old news. Sooner or later NYRA will realize that they're not the only game in town anymore and many, like me, have moved on to other tracks. They taken what used to be arguably the best turf meet of the year (rivaling SAR) and turned into garbage. I suppose their landscaper must have the final say: SAVE the GRASS at all cost.

Where's El Crespo's 'good' race? Influenced by Leparoux being up, I looked real hard and couldn't find one.

And, while Strike a Deal almost never gets a good trip and sooner or later will get one, how in the world did you leave Buddy's Humor out after his butcher job ride last out? Now he's cutting back on a course he likes.

Holland Hacker 06-13-2009 10:13 AM

Don't Tell me NYRA cares the the FAT_Man Says

Did they do an about face and leave the 7th & 10th on the turf?

Andy,

Assuming they stay on the turf, which based on the weather in western NJ today is questionable, and she wins please do join us in the Wc. Heck stop by the paddock or owners boxes and say hi.

Bill

skippy3481 06-13-2009 09:14 PM

Really nice hit vol jack. To be perfectly honest i didn't like the 2 at all. In the least. But steve making him his best value says alot so i included him instead of asiatic boy. Hope you had the win as well.

I can't go in the winner's circle with anyone. Think about how that looks for a second.

We do the show from the third floor while the horses are in the paddock. I will, however, try to go to the boxes for the race.

chucklestheclown 06-13-2009 10:24 PM

Can your show be seen at Arlington trackside?

blackthroatedwind 06-13-2009 10:33 PM

I should hope so.

chucklestheclown 06-13-2009 10:37 PM

I'll look for it; management changes screens every race so we never get to see any analysis or post parades for longer then two seconds.

tigerfan 06-13-2009 11:15 PM

Steve,
You are a magician. In addition to a sizable Macho Again win score, I altered your Chuchill P4 by hitting the all button in the last race. $725.95 later, I thank you very much.
Forgot to bring my soc sec card to the track. Guess I gotta go back tomorrow :D

Guess I never thought about it from that perspective. I didn't mean to put you into an ethical quandary. Sorry about that, I forgot how perceptions of people especially in this business can jump to asinine conclusions. I guess I'm just way to naive and trusting.

Look forward to seeing you if you can find the time.

VJ,

Very nice play. I didn't know what to do with Asiatic Boy.

Of course you could have just as easily congratulated yourself without taking the cheap shot. If you don't care for or respect the way in which I designate selections, just say so. It's certainly novel to come here to see how everyone made out, only to get sucker punched for picking Macho Again to win the Foster.

T/F,

Congrats and you're too kind... 'ALL' was a very clever approach in that tough anchor leg. Nicely played!

I don't know how asinine it would be if someone saw a TV handicapping analyst in the winner's circle with, say, some horse that paid $33, after he never mentioned that horse on the air, and felt possibly duped. Or, let's say I picked the horse, then some people might feel I had some inside information.

Appearances matter.

Fair enough.

But to tell the truth I don't even have any "inside information" I guess I'm just not connected enough. All I ever hear from the trainer is that she is doing "real good", what ever that means.

As always looking forward to seeing how your picks compare to mine.

Sorry, I should leave the ball busting to BTW.:o
I lucked out...the hedge bet came back double what the straight MA-einstein ex would have. I bet $150 around Macho yesterday in p4s and missed. lucked out with the tri. Should have just made a $150 win bet...What a concept.

He's the best at it... For my part, I didn't mean to be nasty either... sorry.

I don't know why exactly, but Macho Again seemed 'obvious' in this spot. The pace.. His timing for running good races.. Whatever. (Certainly wasn't 'Ol Possumhead.) I know what you mean about the P4 though. Don't know where you got tripped up, but to me, Keertana was just 'one of the ones'. That's why Tigerfan's ALL button was very clever.

I couldn't play yesterday as I had my father's 80th birsthday dinner in NYC and Tina and I were in the car all day, so I may have saved myself the same frustration.

You could fit the amount of inside information I get on the head of a pin.....but most people don't think that.

skippy3481 06-14-2009 11:28 AM

I agree steve, the 9 was just one of the crowd. He also was the highest payout of the 5 horses i had in the pick 4. However, I had tossed macho again based upon his erratic form. Without you having as your top selection, i would never have used him. Thanks again for all your hard work and making me look at a horse again who i had breezed over earlier.

Trying to beat Miss Isella and going 5 deep in her race proved my undoing.
Plus thinking Ocoluna was absolute lone speed...Even though I made good money off Keertana in her previous race..she kinda looked vulnerable on the class rise.
Macho had really been up against it in his last race, spotting the field up to 8lbs and had no pace to run into.
Its like BTW always preaches, its not about the horse itself, its about how the horse fits into the likey dynamics of the race.
This was the first race I had ever bet or relied on Macho. He has cost me plenty in the past, most notably at toga in the Jim Dandy. Where I had a big P3 and DD to Pyro. all is well that ends well.
