5/30: KNS #3 for AP 4th

In the 2nd part of today's ongoing series of updates/good news, Kickin N Screamin indicated that she is ready to run with a :49.0 half mile over the Arlington Polytrack Saturday.

Chuck is watching for a spot for the 6 year old Chester House mare.

This gives me a valid excuse to either go by myself or tell the Mrs she's going to the track again next w/e :tro:

atolunch 05-26-2009 09:26 AM

Is that race confirmed, or when do they draw?

Thanks in advance!

This seems like a step down for her - is this just the state of racing and what is available? Are we trying to build her confidence with a win? Are we hoping someone claims her?

IMO, a 7.5k N3L at TP to an open 5k at AP is not necessarily a step down.

Chuck or Steve may say otherwise, but as soon as you loose that "Lifetime" tag on a race, the competition gets much tougher, even at a slightly lower claiming price.

Lets see how deep the race is, before you worry about a claim. ;)

Chuck entered this morning... we'll get notice pretty soon. This is an appropriate spot for KNS. She can win at the level, and may or may not be viewed as a worthwhile claim. She's been great for us of course, but being inconsistent and unpredictable, she likely isn't going to be seen as a viable claim. Best to run her in races she can win. And of course, having a horse like her makes it possible for us to do fun things like we did at Atlantic City.

Just as an added beni, weather is predicted to be perfect for this w/e.

Won't be attending.....instead,

will be patching the hole in the pool  2nd time in two years.....hopefully the race will be on Capital OTB TV 12.

DJARUM 05-27-2009 05:19 PM

Great, we are racing, that's why we all did this. Let's put her where she can win, who wants to run second? Isn't that why we all invested, to enjoy racing and the experience. Wish I could be there but, I'll have have to enjoy the race on the internet. Hope everyone in attendance really enjoys the race. Win or lose, were owners????

Hasn't Powder River run against her before??

GBBob 05-28-2009 07:53 AM

There's a horse in this race, Irish Accent, that is a sad story. She is an 8 year old who was bred and owned by a neighbor of mine and her niece. Sheila Meehan was in her 50's and I met her when I moved here about 5 years ago. A single lady, she was a school teacher and had mild physical handicaps and a lot of health issues it turned out. She loved horses and racing and owned a few with her niece and her brother. Irish Accent was moderately succesful for them a few years ago and then she was claimed by the current connections. Sheila really wanted to get her back as she had bred her and wanted her in a good place to retire. Well Sheila got cancer and died a few months later ( about a year ago). Meanwhile....the new owner/trainer have been running this poor thing weekly sometimes ever since. It's obvious she has nothing in the tank and shouldn't be racing anymore. I've been thinking of just claiming here and trying to find her a home, but it's easier said than done...we'll see..

One nice thing for DeeTee is that KNS landed in one of those rare AP races this year without a horse from any of the following barns:
Robertson
Janks
Stidham
Catalano

Considering those four barns are all winning at least 33% of their races at the meet so far, I think it bodes well for you guys that you avoided all of them.
Best of luck to KNS.

I hope all goes well for this poor horse. Claiming her would probably garner you boat loads of karma points with the racing gods...:)
