Why launch it in September? ... they should have had it ready for the start of Saratoga and Del Mar so we can see more BTW more easily.

Lets play "Guess what the 12 tracks are"....

Wonder how popular it will be, I know if I had a Dish I would get it

the_fat_man 05-13-2009 01:33 PM

Too little, too ****in late.

I get all the live feeds I can handle with TWINSPIRES.

Yeah, at $4.99 a month I might think about it. Why would I pay $49.95 when I can see the races on HRTV and TVG already and can get all the simulcast feeds on Twinspires?

booner 05-13-2009 01:41 PM

Same here. I don't get to play and watch as much as most here, but $49.99 would still be steep, especially since I can get the TwinSpires video.

philcski 05-13-2009 01:42 PM

$49.95 = too expensive

It will now make it a little easier for me to watch BTW and Derby Lane greyhound racing ... if that isn't worth $50 I don't know what it is.

Count me in.

MaTH716 05-13-2009 01:49 PM

$600.00 for the year is ridiculous. Most people can watch the races for free using their betting platform.
In my opinion, this package is only good for bar/restauraunts that might be located near an OTB/Track. This way they would be able to cater to the racing fanbase and have them spend time in their establishment instead of sitting in the dismal OTB all day.

Danzig 05-13-2009 01:51 PM

too much money, when i already have both tvg and hrtv. but a nice idea-i'll get it when i retire.

skippy3481 05-13-2009 01:51 PM

Have you been to derby lane recently, its a shell of its former self. There used to be money in those pools. Now if you go on a friday night and bet 20 to win on his horse, his odds go from 5-1 to 1.9. The last time i went i played a pick 3 and there was 63 dollars in the pool...

Bobby Fischer 05-13-2009 01:52 PM

I'm still growing enough bank to afford HRTV

you've got me thinking...i was considering opening a sports bar, but one where people could also access computers to place bets-this would work well there!

it's a thought i've had for a while-i think it would be a hit, but not right around here. i'd have to go to louisiana, about half an hour south.

Almost all the horses in Chicago have Wi-Fi. I used to roll into Buffalo Wild Wings and be playing the horses, eating boneless wings, and watching football/baseball/college basketball....Good fun :)

i'm in the southeast corner-half hour from lousiana, not quite an hour to mississippi. it's actually a good place to live-i'm within a days drive from a lot of good places to visit.
but...pretty deep in the boondocks. as for tv, til we got dish, i got ONE channel thru the antenna. have dish for internet too, the only alternative is dial-up-no cable.

interesting... so what airport would you fly out of? i guess i've never thought about what it would be like to live in a rural airport. what is the closest racetrack- fair grounds?

well KNS will be in Chicago... I wonder if she reads Derbytrail or just looks up horsey porn on her wireless?

dagolfer33 05-13-2009 02:54 PM

Dish network does not offer any local programming in my area, which is a problem for everyone else in the household not wanting to watch racing 24/7. Besides, my wife wouldnt let me watch 50 dollars worth of racing on my TV. I can watch as much as I want on my computer now for free.

Most sports bars around here do too. They installed the wi-fi to mainly cater to the fantasy football geeks, but it works well with horse racing too.

could fly out of monroe, little rock, shreveport, etc.
oaklawn is two hours away, fair ground 5-6 hours.

Cannon Shell 05-13-2009 07:56 PM

Would I pay $50 a month to not have to listen to the babbling on HRTV or TVG? I'd pay $500 a month...

Coach Pants 05-13-2009 08:01 PM

DishNet sucks.

ALostTexan 05-14-2009 11:46 PM

I am sort of pissed that this is going to go into effect in September, too, because I will hopefully be getting my ass out of Arizona in December. Can't wager online so the Twin Spires/TVG online viewing is out of the question, and I only have TVG right now through Comcast. I would have had to change apartments for a dish, but if this plan was an option I probably would have made the move...
