Summer Colony a pole! 04-27-2009 09:51 PM

Pioneerof the Nile!!!!

BJI - Simply Misunderstood - Majorly Misunderstood - time for a NAME CHANGE! Let's call it the:
Greatest Winning Power Rating - or something more professional!

It's simply analyzing the horses pedigree and quantifying the horses by using a number.
It helped me to fetch the: Barbaro - Bluegrass Cat Exacta in 2006
Giacomo - Closing Arguement Extra in 2005
Birdstone upset in the Belmont Stakes in 2004
and solid win bet on Friends Lake in the Florida Derby a few year's ago.
Last year it was awful though..... I had Monba, Eight Belles, and Court Vison (as the top three)

It's basically recognizes how a horses family members (Sires/Dams) etc. performed in GI races to black type stakes winner, etc. Birdstone has been my highest number up to this point with a 887. Pioneerof the Nile is clearly much, much, higher. 1,000 would be a perfect score. We will find out on Saturday. This year I changed it a little though to allow non-raced mares to receive higher numbers if they have super siblings (like Ajina in Quality Road's pedigree). Get your minds out of the gutter! Take Care!

1 Pioneerof the Nile 950
2 Friesan Fire 943
3 Quality Road 938
4 Dunkirk 934

what?

NTamm1215 04-27-2009 09:55 PM

Someone who has "pole" in their handle comes on spouting something about a BJI.

Interesting acronym to say the least.

NT

The Indomitable DrugS 04-27-2009 10:02 PM

BJI simply means Big Johnson Index.

The thread starter obviously took the time to measure them all ... and I've heard worse handicapping angles than betting on the horse with the biggest dong.

My BJI is off the charts in case anyone is curious. Just an FYI.

Rudeboyelvis 04-27-2009 10:07 PM

Maybe Scavs can give us a ruling on Big Brown's BJI

blackthroatedwind 04-27-2009 10:11 PM

I bet I'm not the only one eager to search his other three posts.

I hope someone brings back the Golden Missile thread for him.

blackthroatedwind 04-27-2009 10:13 PM

I also feel this thread should be an eye opener for those that don't understand why I don't like Pioneer of the Nile.

You're leaving yourself open for some bad jokes with that one.

VOL JACK 04-27-2009 10:23 PM

Indian Charlie 04-28-2009 12:04 AM

Summer Colony is/was Polish?

Probably the greatest Polish race horse of all time.

They're relatively low considering what some bands charge. Of course, I still have stubs from Dead shows in the early 80s when shows were under $10. I spent less for entire tours ( and I mean.....entire tours ) than a pair of tix costs now.

I would have if the internet was around then.

We did watch a lot of sports. Saw the BC from Aqueduct with about ten people in a hotel room in Richmond. Sorry to miss the BC....but the two shows in Richmond in 85 were all-timers.

Those second sets, especially the first night, were incredible.

The drive up from the Halloween show at the University of South Carolina was a hoot as well. I also saw the shows at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta the previous nights. Now that's a great venue.

The Indomitable DrugS 04-28-2009 01:16 PM

You would have liked going on tour. Lake Placid on a beautiful Fall day.....same with Portland and Augusta, Maine. Those were good times.

Then there were places like Birmingham, Alabama, where some girl called me a " f'n yuppie " because I wouldn't give her a dollar for " a shot of Jaeger. "

The Internet has been around for about 40 years or so, in various forms.

If Sal had been in Augusta, I assure you he'd have been at the OTB hunting whales.

If he had been at those Augusta shows he probably would have been in utero.

I think he was four by then. I'm pretty sure the only thing he knew how to read until high school was a form.

He had(has) that whole savant thing going you know.

dirty hippys

Slewbopper 04-29-2009 03:49 AM

The Dead were okay...saw them first at the Fillmore East in '68 or '69. They weren't very good. Then in Denver with Flatt and Scruggs, in '72. They were much better. The final time was at the English Town NJ racetrack in '78(?) with Marshall Tucker. 125,000 whacked out people in the mud. 2 mile walk to the venue. Nothing at the concession stands but warm C & C cola. Nasty day.

My Dead days probably died about the time Andy's started.
