slotdirt 08-04-2006 08:36 AM

But come on, oracle never has any good information, right? Isn't that what folks say?

Gander 08-04-2006 08:39 AM

Its a gooey mess. I went to the workouts today, rained very hard from 4am to 6am. All clear now though and will dry out soon enough. Good call on the turf, there are puddles everywhere.

Tim....Im sure it will dry out enough throughout this morning to be rated fast sometime this afternoon, right?

Gander 08-04-2006 08:43 AM

Yes that would be my guess Kev. Maybe for the first part of the card it will be a "drying out track", which by the way are the hardest to handicap on. Maybe the late pick 4 will be on a fast or good track. I strongly recommend waiting for tomorrow's races which look fabulous from start to finish.

I will be at the workouts so if you are up early tomorrow, give my phone a call. Maybe English Channel will be working out.

Never have a prob with Chucktown...other than the fact that they are running TONIGHT......I need something to occupy my time TODAY.

Sure do wish Dec. 9th would hurry up and get here:( :(

boldruler 08-04-2006 08:55 AM

As long as they are back on it tomorrow. Watchtower in the 4th tomorrow is an easy winner. Darley horse, hopefully goes off around 3-1.

We're lucky enough to get all the NYRA replays on TV (twice every morning). I for one cant stand watching races on computers, but if you have no other option, then yes sign up for it. $10 a month is well worth it.

Believe me, we pay for these replays too. Our cable bill is all teh way up to $50 a month. Add Road Runner to that and we have $100 a month we pay to Time Warner.

Maybe I should move back home!

oracle80 08-04-2006 09:35 AM

Well I hated to be the bearer of bad news but I thought I'd call Kev and let you guys know. It rained pretty hard here. The sun is shining and there is a breeze and its warm. The track should start out sealed and muddy and progress to good/fast throughout the day. I can't see it staying muddy the whole day unless Passero decides to have one of his lothed sealed track festivals.
Drives me absolutely ****ing crazy. Joe King is the best in the business and for years here he never sealed a damn track. You harrow it and leave it cut open and the wind and sun will do the rest. When I see those cement blocks dragging behind the tractors I wanna pull a Joe Pesci(Easy Money with Rodney Dangerfield) and leap over the fence and attack the guy. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to keep water sealed into and pushed down into a racetrack, none.

Mike...if I play the late 4, think it is safe enough for me to cap it as dry and fast?

I'd try for good/fast. But beware!!! Days like this often produce big biases and biases that change as well. While wet and sealed the track may play to speed or pressers. As it dries out(the slope of the track cannot be seen by the naked eye but it does exist) it always dries from the outside in. Makes the outside footing firmer and better and you may see horses catapulting the down the center of the track. Keep an eye on conditions and watch races even if you aren't playing them. Days like this are extremely tricky but can be extremely rewarding for those who pay attention and draw the proper conclusions about how races are flowing.

Yeah...thats why I really just plan on watching the early part of the card. If I don't like the way that it's playing, there is always tomorrow. I also want to see the scratches too, before deciding if I am gonna play.

Gander 08-04-2006 09:54 AM

I also want to see the scratches too

There will be many. I hear the Violette horse in the 5th can run.

You heard very correctly. He's much better than average.

GPK 08-04-2006 10:07 AM

Just read the track is sealed and muddy.

You're right.
I'm not there to look at the track but the web site says "muddy sealed".
Will definitely change all day.

Scav 08-04-2006 10:15 AM

Love In the Gold even more now, this also moves Yolanda up to the 2nd spot IMO

He must be able to...firster and he is ML 3-1....be typical...probably go off at 3-5 and off no value.

Gander 08-04-2006 10:42 AM

Kev-
Morning lines in races loaded with firsters are incredibly inaccurate. Have no clue what to expect, maybe even money or 4/1.

Violette does well in these types of races up here, hence the reason for 3/1 ML. No other reason.

Tim, i'm just going on the fact that you heard he can run, Mike confirmed he can run. Know what that tells me? 75% of Saratoga has heard that he can run. Hence....in typical NY wise guy fashion:cool: , he will be bet down:D

Gander 08-04-2006 10:48 AM

Your probably right. The guy who gave it to me wont hesitate to drop a few grand on it if the odds are okay.

GPK 08-04-2006 10:51 AM

he didn't scratch, so at least we will find out out fast he is

With this type of steam you single him on the end of a pick three and pick four, if possible...
