Lets thank the jocks!

Okay, if you could pay homage to one jock..... NOT the best, NOT your favorite..... if you could complement one on a fine ride or if there's one who was riding when you made that big score?

Who would you thank (besides Maylan) and what would you say?

Anyone?

Lets all play nice in the sandbox, kids, and remember those who have the only job in the world (I think) where an ambulance follows them around all day.

whoever won on Kickin...

do jockey's deserve thanks when they do their job correctly? Or do they only deserve to get crap when they screw things up.

THIS is what I'm looking for. Thanks for answering the question. :)

Indian Charlie 12-09-2008 01:53 PM

My take on jocks is something like this.

You know how they geld unruly male horses to get them to behave better?

I think when a jock has lost his third race that he should have won, as a result of trying to use their brain, they should be lobotomized.

Until they start lobotomizing jocks, I just don't see any discussion of praising jockeys as having any merit.

I figured for every 10,000 negative posts there could be a nice one though. :p

Personally I'd like to break with tradition and not include my favorite substance abusers (bless them all), hell I'm not even including the one and only Freddy Fong (who IS riding at TP these days and winning occassionally  :tro: ).

I'd like to thank The Mig for his ride on Desert Code. :)

Fair enough! I will give legitimate thanks in my next post!

Chantal Sutherland for being a bombmaker on the turf.

I'd like to give her a pearl necklace.

Yes, he shed a 120 lbs so he could tack 115. Keeps fumbling his reins and dropping his whip in the stretch.

Edgar Prado for not being a pu$$y in the 2005 BC Sprint, keeping Silver Train straight as an arrow, and stopping Gomez on Taste of Paradise in the process.

TheSpyder 12-09-2008 02:27 PM

The ride I had on my wife last night was awesome. Although at my age it's much like a 6f sprint....1:12 4/5 and I was at the wire. I remember the Grand National Days!

Your thinking of Fast Willie Parker...

Heels1989 12-09-2008 03:45 PM

Ramon D and Channing Hill who each respectfully hooked up my 11 yr old and 8 yr nieces with goggles this summer at the SPA. Special thanks to Ramon who asked my niece to wait as he went in the jock's quarters and came back out with a pair. Very classy.

I gotta give Channing his due. He has come through with some nice turf rides for me the past few months. He understand the concept of saving ground and is pretty fearless along the rail.
