11/30: AQU/HOL (Late P4's)

Though P4 plays remained elusive, broke through with several nice scores on the big Saturday raceday. Three superfectas at Churchill were punctuated with the weekend making 11th that yielded a $71 exacta, $245 tri and $1,315 super. It was a great afternoon highlighted by the thrilling Hill 'n' Dale Cigar Mile where either Tale of Ekati or the DQ'd Harlem Rocker made deserving winners. And considering the verbal beating the sophomores have taken all year, it was a very good showing for the the Class of '08.

And while Old Fashioned garnered a lot of the oohing and ahhing Saturday, the most impressive baby race run at New York or Kentucky came from Jimmy Jerkens' Quality Road in the Big A 4th. Ned Evans' Elusive Quality (VA) son out of a Strawberry Road mare blew apart a MSW event that was supposed to feature several other notable neophytes.

Hope you did well yesterday! AQU and HOL P4's to fool around with...

Anyone have any thoughts on the big return of El Gato Malo? 20 MTP...

the_fat_man 11-30-2008 03:47 PM

What happened today at NYRA? Lost track of time? Didn't bother venturing outside?

Good for a single in a small pick 3. I like Kris Silver in the 5th:

3/3/ALL

dean smith 11-30-2008 03:53 PM

From the peanut gallery...

I'm going to try and beat him with Talkin To Mom Roo. El Gato Malo is a terminator, but I'm not feeling 3/2 right now. I really don't understand the public's infatuation with Gayego. Is it name recognition (from being in the Triple Crown races)? He's been a dog since the Arkansas Derby....a million years ago.

Ah, but what do I know? Maybe I just like the name: Talkin To Mom Roo.

dean smith 11-30-2008 03:54 PM

Quick question

Why does it say Sam Houston under my name?

That's the default for your favorite track. Go into User CP...select Favorite Track and pick which track you like best.

The more you post the bigger and more famous and prestigious the tracks get.

dean smith 11-30-2008 04:08 PM

NOW I understand

What I said about Gayego a minute ago....er, forget it.

I stand by my Talkin To Mom Roo pick, though. He was kind of bottled up before hitting the stretch.

Kasept 11-30-2008 04:09 PM

How about that El Gato Malo?

onebadbeast 11-30-2008 04:12 PM

that mambo in seattle didnt run a lick.

dean smith 11-30-2008 04:12 PM

I won't post again once I hit Mountaineer then! I love their public handicappers, Mark Patterson, the big comic book guy-type, and "Nance," she of the monotone voice who uncomfortably deflects his "let's you and I get it on" comments. Golden.

Telephone.. I caught a nice EXA earlier in the feature. Willie Martinez on the winner in fact, $22. EXA came back $150.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I'm just trying to learn more about turf handicapping, but what is it you see in Kris Silver that warrants singling him over say, Maroon, Railroad, or Lockford (among others)?

Like I said, I'm not here to call anyone out, I'm just trying to learn from one of the truly great masters of Derbytrail.com.

;)

Coach Pants 11-30-2008 04:35 PM

I like Kris Silver a little in this wide open race.

$20 win

dean smith 11-30-2008 04:39 PM

OK. Kris Silver it is!

$4 to win!

Nice Coach.

dean smith 11-30-2008 04:47 PM

Genius pick. I wish you'd tell me how you pulled Kris Silver out of those PPs, but I guess I should thank you for the twenty bucks.

Railroad was a suspect horse and was the only other viable speed. Figured Kris would be on the lead and that's a good place to be on that course.

The works plus Tyler Baze did it for me.

:p

CSC 11-30-2008 05:15 PM

6:1 on a Mitchell horse? He looks interesting here, Mr. Elroy. He'll either be 1st or last but he's worth a try.

the_fat_man 11-30-2008 05:23 PM

The 'wipeout' horses run 1-2 for a $60 exacta.

CSC 11-30-2008 05:28 PM

Cocoa Beach opens at 6:5

the_fat_man 11-30-2008 05:36 PM

What's more interesting is that Visit opens LOWER than Precious Kitten.

CSC 11-30-2008 05:41 PM

Visit was my choice this morning, I just hadn't posted it till now. Unfortunately she is only 2/1 but she may drift upwards. If she reproduces her NA race I can't see anyone beating her, she'll be more effective going 2 furlongs shorter.

hoovesupsideyourhead 11-30-2008 05:41 PM

criminoligist is a mad layover:eek:

hoovesupsideyourhead 11-30-2008 05:52 PM

edgar is such a stiff...

CSC 11-30-2008 05:58 PM

And Ramon is :$: on turf,

the_fat_man 11-30-2008 06:02 PM

Hard to believe that PK couldn't wire with those fractions on that course (after all the **** that's been wiring there recently). Is there such a thing as going TOO slow?

i like you in the 8th at golden gate but was hoping for better than 9-5.

think i'll take a pass unless you drift up to 5-2 before post.

sdjcom 11-30-2008 06:10 PM

Golden Gate race 9) $2 ex 25/1256

the_fat_man 11-30-2008 06:11 PM

There's a hunch play if I ever saw one.
