Hillary will be named Sec Of State Monday

According to several news agencies, President-Elect Obama will make it official on Monday and name her Secretary of State...hardly a surprise but a great choice imo, others will of course disagree but time and not opinions will tell...for the sake of everyone, I hope I'm right.

What a dumb move. I swear both parties are retarded.

Don't you think this was the deal all along. Hillary campaigned harder for Obama the last month prior to the election than she ever did for Bill. This was decided upon long ago to seal her support for the presidency.

I don't know what to think of Obama. I'm giving Obama the benefit of the doubt that he's not that damn dumb to think Hillary had anything to do with him winning the election in the final 30 days.

But still...

this is a f.ucked up deal. I can't stand that bull dyke b.itch and this will more than likely hurt his chances in 2012 because things aren't going to magically get better over night.

geeker2 11-30-2008 09:57 AM

I bet Bill is excited...lots of foreign pu$$y to look forward to....

timmgirvan 11-30-2008 12:27 PM

there are reports that Hillary will appoint Bill to fill her NY Senate seat!

not sure if govs have anything to say about it! Seems that others have done
same thing when the occasion arises, as it saves the cost of special election

i'm no expert on ny election law but since senators are state representatives to the federal government most states have statutes for appointment by the governor or special elections to fill vacancies.

i've never heard of a senator having the prerogative to name their own successor when they resign.

I believe it's happened but I can't cite an example. Wasn't there some buzz about Lieberman giving his seat to his son if he was offered a position?
...you would think it's up to Gov,tho

biden's son was discussed as his possible replacement but that would have been an appointment by the governor.

i looked up the ny election code and it looks like they have to hold a special election.

i'm not sure it really makes any sense for bill clinton to be the most junior member of the senate anyways. i think a big part of hillary's taking sec of state is a recognition of how little power short tenured senators actually have.

it's an institution where the levers of power are in the hands of people that are there the longest. neither of them would get any significant committee assignments and certainly no chairmanships.

Thanks for correct info

I thought so also...frankly, she would have been the only Republican that I would have considered voting for had she run for the Presidency...very intelligent, well spoken and respected most everywhere.

Mortimer 12-01-2008 06:35 AM

Hillary will be named Sec Of State Monday

That don't sound right----they should leave the "Monday" off.

GPK 12-01-2008 10:41 AM

At least Obama used some sense in selecting James Jones as NSA:tro: :tro:

She'll run again in 2016 when Obama is out of the way.

maybe, maybe not. way too soon to call that one.

as for hill in 2016...her age would play a role by then, wouldn't it?

to many, that was a pretty good era..

And it certainly is a "change" from the last 8 years, although admittedly Condi Rice was a standout in a sea of laughable cabinet members

my husband said pretty much the same thing-and i replied pretty much the same way bob just did. it's definitely a change from the bush era-and hopefully a change for the better.

If you take the personality thing out of it, she is about as well qualified as anyone outside of Powell, Condi and maybe Bill Richardson.

Danzig 12-01-2008 03:50 PM

honestly, i'm surprised bill richardson didn't get it-he certainly burned some bridges with the clintons when he finally endorsed barrack obama. surely obama will have something for him? or did i miss an already-made announcement?

He does seem left out and considering the hatchet job Hilary's campaign did on him (Obama), I'm not sure why he wasn't given a key position. He is qualified.

he's going to be named secretary of commerce.

pgardn 12-01-2008 07:06 PM

The appointments made so far should upset the left more than the right.
He is keeping Gates. And taking Jones in.

I think all Condi Rice did was get shoved around. She seemed very capable but she had nada to work with. Always bargaining from a position of weakness with very little latitude. She was wasted. And she would be very valuable for the current administration because we will be having lots of little spats with Russia in the next two years. Best they find some way to get her views imo.

And I like empanadas.
Tasty little pastries.
