100 degrees tomorrow at Saratoga

I don't know how you can bet any horse in that type of heat. The turf come thursday is going to be like a dirt track. Go with No Reason in the feature on Thursday.

No way will I be there. Lansdon is arriving today and he hates that kind of heat as well and the plan is to go someplace on Broadway like the Stadium that has TVG and bet out of his account and drink beer in the air conditioing while ogling hot waitresses. I think its an outstanding plan.

It should be nice for Saturday, and there is a 50-50 shot I am going. I have to see this Invasor character live.

I will be rooting for Flower Alley. I root for any horse that once had something to do with Walnut Green.

I agree. In fact it sounds like heaven when the weather is like it is. The food there is way above average for a sports bar and the beer is always served very cold. Have fun while I freeze in my AC office, with no TVG and no way to bet!

oracle80 08-01-2006 01:27 PM

Lansdon ususally has outstanding plans. He's not a CEO for no reason!!! LOL!

Gander 08-01-2006 01:29 PM

You may as well stick around and watch the Yankees play the Blue Jays at 7. Not sure if Landson is a baseball fan but I know it must be exciting to watch Abreui, who makes his Yankee debut tonight. I know I'll be watching.

Gander, I'm curious why the "i" at the end...am i missing a joke?

Gander 08-01-2006 01:38 PM

Man am I mispelling his name? Sorry, for some reason I thought it ended in
an i. No joke intended.

I wasn't ripping on you....I was confused that's all. He's on the front page of the Harrisburg sports page for two years, only way I knew.

Gander 08-01-2006 03:32 PM

I've watched him play quite a bit, just never wrote about him until now. I guess that would hold true to a lot of great players who I get to see but nobody really cares to hear about like Texeira and Young for the Rangers or Jason Bay for the Pirates.

It seems to be all about the Red Sox & Yankees, and I (being a huge Red Sox fan) am as guilty as anyone.

I watch my Pirates....as painful as it is at times you find hope in kids like Jason Bay and Freddie Sanchez...who I guess I should thank Red Sox nation for since they gave him to us for Jeff Suppan:eek:

Once again to anyone who is here who cannot stomach 100 degrees with no A/C available, head on over to the Stadium on Broadway. Great wings and burgers, cold reasonably priced beer and all sports and most importantly TVG on big screens. Much better way to enjoy tomorrows action than sweating it out in jungle like conditions.

Gander 08-01-2006 04:07 PM

Mike-
I have a pretty slamming work schedule this whole month but I'll try to come down tomorrow (possibly during lunch) and say hi. Still havent net Landson so that would be an added plus. Enjoy.

largo1 08-01-2006 05:49 PM

Geeez, wish I was there. Instead I'm stuck here(NE Ohio) without AC and I think its 110 in the shade. If there was any shade. I rode 20 miles on Sat., the only relief was swimming my pony in the river. Thank God I have a pool!! I've been in it about 133 times today. I usually love warm weather, but this is overkill. I could use some AC and a cold brewski right about now.

Suzanne(i'm melting!)

Be careful...Mike may try and get into a fight with some guys there....LMFAO:eek:

pgardn 08-01-2006 06:08 PM

Now I know why you guys live up there.

Man the summers here would kill. I still gotta get outside though. Plenty of water, put on the sunscreen and go after the redfish. They love the flats this time of year.

OR... fix the car, fix the roof, fix the kayak... Im dyin today. It gets down to 85 at night, so we got that going anyway. Cold showers are great for many reasons.

largo1 08-01-2006 06:19 PM

Where are U, Pgardn??

How could I have not noticed before this you're in Harrisburg, Dr. F? I grew up in Mechanicsburg. Parents now live in Middletown.

San Antonio.
For the redfish, a trip to the flats between Aransas Pass and Port Aransas is in order.

Upper right hand corner. And you live in ...?

Downthestretch55 08-01-2006 07:55 PM

Hey Pat,
This is way of topic, but did you ever use a "corky" for reds?
Just curious, because my son met the guy that makes them in his garage in Houston...his retirement business.
Corkies are very good...neutral boyancy, and good imitations of available forage.
Tight lines!

largo1 08-01-2006 09:15 PM

I live in hell right now,,,its about 60 miles south of Cleveland. I shouldn't complain,,,,I just drug my @$$ out of the pool for the night. The neighbor kids talked me(yeah, they're 8 and 10) into throwing my dog in the pool......ya'know, *NOT ALL* dogs can swim?? Once he quit panicking I think he may have enjoyed it!! Anyway, here I am. The closest track is Thistledown, God help us all!! BUt it actually is better than nothing. I'm from D.C. originally. Would I be dating myself if I said I remember hanging on the rail at Timonium????

I was born in Carlisle! And I remember many a bike ride from Mechanicsburg through Lemoyne to New Cumberland. Is that macrobiotic store/restaurant still there? It was close to the movie theater, I think... is the movie theater still there, for that matter? I loved that old house-- not many like it left.
