Still trying to figure that out. NBC's website is a clusterf.uck.

geeker2 08-08-2008 11:10 PM

watching replay in the am..sucks.

It will interfere with my listening of Dave Johnson and Caton:D

Coach Pants 08-08-2008 11:21 PM

Prelims should be live online.

Finals will be live on NBC tomorrow night.

Looks like NBC had some serious pull. Traditionally prelims are in the morning and finals at night in the same day. In Shanghai prelims are at night and finals the following morning.

So around 5 a.m. eastern prelims start and 9 p.m finals in prime american time. :D

Swimming and waterpolo are really the only things I'm looking forward to watching. Although you wouldn't know anyone else was swimming besides Phelps and Amanda Beard from the promo's. I thought the Amanda Beard "promo's" were very tastefully done for the record.

In re: to USA waterpolo- Tony Azevedo (of Long Beach Wilson and Stanford) is arguably one of the (or the) best waterpolo players in the world. First player from the US to sign a million dollar contract to play professionally.... doing so with a club in Italy. That's insane considering the end game for an elite waterpolo player in the US is getting a partial scholarship to Stanford, USC, CAL, UCLA, etc... Getting a full scholarship means that you are probably under consideration for the national team and have been playing internationally with the junior-national team while in highschool.

USA v Serbia is on NBC wed morning and i think is the first US game televised. If you assumed the Serbians play dirty, you were correct.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-09-2008 03:41 AM

Dave Johnson has a gig? One time (on TVG) I wrote that Todd guy, and told him that Caton was HER HIGHNESS QUEEN OF GREATER CHALKLAND. He loved that, because when she was at TVG she was really chalk crazy.I wish I had a fiddy for every time she said you can't pick your prices etc.

ddthetide 08-09-2008 08:40 AM

checkout the live internet feeds. i have onthe Equestrian now. it has picture-in-picture and can watch 3 events at one time. very cool.:)

ddthetide 08-09-2008 08:56 AM

i like the track meet the best. to me that is the summer olympics.

YEAH, the much anticipated swimming thread.

The NBC site is a mess, I'm still trying to figure out what's when and what's live and what's being streamed. I still can't find the prelims from last nite.
The olympic site is a little bit better.

Dtide you should start a track thread.

Coach Pants 08-09-2008 04:32 PM

Ous is up against it tonight. Diamond isn't showing any love on finals tonight. All bets are off.

Jensen looked great this morning and should give Hackett all he wants. Jensen wins and shatters his American record.

Right now Piersol is -150 to win the 200 back. Lochte is the only competition and he's got a busy schedule. Piersol will win and break the world record and I'm willing to take the odds considering they would be at least -1500 without Lochte in the race.

600/400

Same here.
Not really the field events, just the running.
High jump and long jump are ok.

ArlJim78 08-09-2008 05:58 PM

give me the events that can be timed or measured (weight, height or distance), i don't like the team events or the ones that are rated by judges.

The last world record holder in the 400 I.M. was Tom Dolan. The record was set at the 2000 games in Sydney. The time? 4:11.76.

Almost an eight second drop in the span of 8 years. Arguably the greatest athlete of all time.

I don't have to argue it. The results are there. He'll be the most accomplished Olympic athlete ever after this one and he's only 23.

Not denying what he accomplished, but you can't annoit a 23yr old as the "greatest athlete of all time"

I really could care less about swimming, but Torres last leg was cool to watch

I said arguably and you can't deny he's on the short list. To do so would be completely ridiculous.

Just how many times does he have to break a world record? At least 100, 200? ;)

Mortimer 08-10-2008 09:43 AM

I understand he shoots the boost.

Storm Cadet 08-10-2008 09:54 AM

MaTH716 08-10-2008 11:20 AM

That was one fkn huge set of nuts on the veteran. Thats how you show the hell up for your country. You knock off the top ranked freestyler in the world and you gave him a head start.

We even have a brotha getting gold on this team......next a white guy from Cleveland wins the gold in the 100M......I haven't had this much fun watching the olympics since Spitz. Phelps quest for 8 golds is still alive!!

skippy3481 08-10-2008 10:37 PM

46 flat i swam alot in high school and thats absolutely insane. I thought we were dead when the french anchor hit the water first... No way jason should be able to stay with him,let alone make up time..... That was the **** legends are made of.

pgardn 08-10-2008 10:37 PM

The French said they would crush us.
We took their little white glove and slapped them
with it.

Scav 08-10-2008 10:42 PM

The french are really comedy. First they start **** with me at the blackjack table, then they go and win the Arlington Million, and now they just got payback by getting snapped on the wire. Karma is a bitch. WEE WEE.....

Coach Pants 08-10-2008 10:42 PM

Frenchies...

buhahahahahahah!!
