Freaking sweet. I've heard great things about Formulator, but have never actually gotten around to using it since I have Macs. Can't do too much now at work, but will get around to fiddling with it later on I'm sure.

Thanks for the heads up.

hockey2315 06-03-2008 02:43 PM

I have the same problem - ever since I got my mac I haven't been able to use it. All the features aren't up yet, though. What do you do for race replays on your mac? Calracing doesn't work for me so I have to use other people's comps when I want to watch replays.

For NYRA races, I use the free NYRA replay subsite on racereplays.com.

http://www.racereplays.com/nyra/inde...start=gen_nyra

For CDI races (Churchill and Arlington are pretty much the only ones I need), I have a CDI account.

For other races, I generally use Twinspires, which doesn't always work initially, but eventually shows me the race.

hockey2315 06-03-2008 02:50 PM

Ya racereplays doesn't work for me either. . . sucks

Why doesn't Twinspires work for you? While I hate how they have it set up, I have never had an issue with it, wish they would have head on's though

Do you have RealPlayer installed on your computer?

I'm not the computer genius here, that's probably Morty. All I know is the video doesn't always load.

Is this thing free for a limited time or something?

Seems pretty awesome.

I can't help you in that department, but I know someone that might be able to, let me ask some questions....

ptgiven 06-03-2008 03:29 PM

not all the functionality thats currently in the formulator (desktop) is available in the web BETA formulator, be interesting how it handles loading all my notes!

It's cool. Like I said, it eventually loads, just not always right away.

XIIPointStables 06-03-2008 07:39 PM

I decided to fool around with thing as I also decided to pop in the DRF Handicapping Expo DVD set that I got from the g/f for Christmas.

Am I missing something or are all the trainer aspects that Andy Beyer is gushing about not available on the Beta version? Am I missing something?

blackthroatedwind 06-03-2008 07:40 PM

I haven't used the new beta version but I don't believe everything is in place yet.

hockey2315 06-03-2008 07:46 PM

Right - some of the features still aren't up.

XIIPointStables 06-03-2008 07:47 PM

You're right - it was right there on the front page what is there and what is coming soon. Still looks like this will be a pretty cool feature.

Either way, I'm think I'm going to try and use the Formulator software for Friday/Saturday at Belmont this weekend.

The best feature I noticed is the fit to screen bar.

VOL JACK 06-03-2008 11:03 PM

Gonna give them some time to get the kinks worked out, but it was all F'd up yesterday. The highlighted races were the wrong dates and race numbers. and if it happened to be the right date, it would take you to the wrong chart.

I think the powers-at-be shouldve gave the it a bit more of a trial run before cutting the red tape. Ill give them a mulligan because at least they are trying to improve the product.

Other than Moss's pace figures, which were never part of the original to my knowledge, I can't find anything thats missing and it seems to be loading much faster....pretty cool actually for what it is trying to do.

Just looked at this again and it seems MUCH better than it was over the summer when it was launced. There seems to be more features than I remember using on my downloaded version which I thought was up tod date including sibling analysis.

I think I'll be using this instead of the downloaded version.

I cant seem to figure out how to get the video, I probably don't have that version of the PPS in my subscription as it wasn't available when I renewed my Plan.

The summer version was a 'fast and dirty' Beta thing the developers were urged to mount. DRF's info guru Lonnie Goldfeder was on ATR this summer a couple of times at Toga, and said that the final product would be fabulous once totally accessorized. (But honestly... I prefer the download style myself as well.)
