This has been happening for a long time. Its called transgendered.

I really do not expect to see a trend of transgendered individuals being pregnant though.

Come on Lori, grow a beard and start popping out babies. It's the cool thing to do.

Man! I already have to shave my legs and pits.. I do not want to have to shave my face also!

MaTH716 04-04-2008 03:02 PM

I feel bad for that poor kid. It is one thing to have 2 mothers or 2 fathers. It is another thing to come out of your fathers.......(whatever).

Sorry I'd much rather have to shave my face than live in France.

He was on Oprah yesterday with his wife and her two daughters from a previous marriage.

It was actually really interesting because Thomas's story was very different from most transgender folk. He never felt like he was trapped in the wrong body or born the "wrong sex," but it was a different sort of thing that led to his decision to take hormones and live as a man.

Of course, something tells me that most people talking about this around the country and responding to this here didn't watch Oprah or haven't bothered to really find out what these two people are all about, because screaming DUDE IS PREGNANT SICKKKKZKZZZZZZ!!!!! is more effective in the realm of hysterics.

I don't know how I feel about the whole thing, but I'm not inclined to be very worried about it.

The Bid 04-04-2008 05:14 PM

Agree with Brian here.

I knew this was gonna happen sometime.

Part of our identity as humans is quite clearly
influenced by our sex. So this female takes testosterone.
And then stops taking it and gets inseminated.
This was very well thought out.

Good luck to the kid.
Dad is mom.
What do you tell your kid?

I have a very stable male identity. She/he says
Stable male identity...
What the hell does that mean?

The birds and the bees speech to
this prospective little girl is going to be very
interesting.

My initial reaction is its not gonna
be easy on this kid at all. And that is
not good.

Oprah: "a new definition of what diversity means for everybody."

A new definition of diversity...
Diversity. Thank you Oprah.
There is a species of single celled organisms
that have 14 different sexes within the species.
There are some fairly interesting mating rules within
these organisms. Maybe Oprah should study these
creatures if she is interested in experimenting with
diversity.

Thanks for breaking new ground with me Dad...
You went and did this so I could explain to everyone
what I plan to be. There should be no ill consequences
as long as I have a loving family. errrr....Maybe not.

Love, Your Baby Girl (maybe, I'm not sure since I got
the choice).

Sorry to sound a little old fashioned here but
this little girl has been put in a very difficult
spot. Cant wait till mom(who is female) decides whether
to have a boy or girl.

Lets get the girls together and have an artificial
insemination party, I got these really pretty napkins
for the snacks.

Biology getting ahead of ethical considerations again.
This is not an issue of rights. Its more parental responsibility.
We already have enough trouble with parental responsibility.
I dont like to experiment with the children.

Here's a novel idea.....tell the kid the truth. I doubt they'll mind as long as they're loved.

Sure.
The kid could turn out absolutely fine.
And I posted we already have enough problems with parents.

So why not just make it a little more novel.
Make it a little tougher on the kid.
Thats a good idea.

And they go on Oprah of course and received
no compensation. Perfectly normal. Share
your story. Get it out. Cash call.
Make your kid and family instant celebrities.
Excellent.

The Bid 04-04-2008 11:21 PM

I dont get it. Whats wrong with a transgender woman, whos now a man, being pregnant, and giving birth?

Look at it from the kids point of view, its not difficult to explain that your dad birthed you. Where do people get off thinking its a big deal if a kids father gives birth?

Will the dad breastfeed him? Is thats what next, some transgender fruitcake trying to breastfeed their child in public? Then I suppose there will be an outrage from all the liberals when people are offended by it.

On second thought, I've seen how wrong my thought was. You and Pgardn are right.

Every
child
deserves

a mother
and a father.

You know, I get some objections. I really do. But on the other hand, I'm sick and tired of listening to people who have f*cked something up get all up in arms when someone else wants in. Gays want to get married? Nope, can't have it, it will ruin marriage. Obviously, unlike the 50% divorce rate ruins marriage. You want to have a child in an unorthodox fashion? Nope, can't have it, every child deserves a mother and a father.

When you suck at doing something, you don't get to play the moral relativity card and pretend that you have any right to tell anyone else they can't have it or can't do it.

Unless, of course, you're a self-righteous prick, then it's probably just standard operating procedure.

Nuff said.

The Bid 04-05-2008 09:04 AM

You're a pretty sharp guy Brian, Im sure you can see where a kid would be confused being birthed by his father, whos really a woman, but is living life as a man. Its not an argument against gays, gays having kids, or gay marraige. Its just commonsense that this kid is going to have a hardtime growing up, and how can that be argued?

For the record Im against any kind of marraige, whether it be gay or straight. Just seems like a miserable thing to me, why are gays fighting to be miserable.

Cajungator26 04-05-2008 09:17 AM

Bid is pretty old school. VERY old school.

The Bid 04-05-2008 09:25 AM

He will have an identity crisis like his mother. He will be confused, made fun of, teased, probably beat up. Forced to deal with a lot of things normal kids dont need to deal with. Normal 13 year olds are trying to figure out where to hide a porno mag, this kids going to be dealing with how to explain his mom is his father. He wont be accepted by "normal kids", or "normal kids" parents. Im sure you had sleepovers when you were a kid, most parents are going to take issue with his family situation and not allow that. Im sure a slew of issues will come up, its just not fair to bring a child into a situation like that.

I guess if old school is not having your dad give birth then yeah, GUILTY

Especially for young people who are not ready for it and the responsibility..........
and get "cold feet" five months after the fact!

I've been with the same person for 18 years.....trust is something you learn in a relationship and sticking through the hard times.

The Bid 04-05-2008 09:32 AM

You are one of the few Triple H, congrats.

CG, Im certainly not liberal, but Im not closed minded. This is just an extremely perverse situation

The Bid 04-05-2008 09:39 AM

Its 2008? I guess by 2025 most dads will be birthing their children, and it will be widely accepted.

The kid starts with such a great disadvantage I dont even want to speculate on what a horrible childhood he will have.

When you know two young people change the wedding date four different times and now less than six months after decided that marriage wasn't for one of them....well, it seems like a lot of trouble for nothing. It's a sad situation that could have been avoided if they waited until they were BOTH sure to take the leap.

Why in the world do you
go on Oprah to get this out
in the open?

That tells me something about
the parent's decision making here.
I have no problem with the kid having
two people to take care of her.

But one has to question their entire
reasoning for having this child. And Oprah
stating this is a lesson in diversity? She is
not stumping for Obama here. What the
heck does this have to do with diversity?
Its not like this is a new race of people.

Publicity stunt with money involved.
Thats certainly the way to start off
with a child.

MaTH716 04-05-2008 10:53 AM

This is why the kid can't have a normal life. The whole world knows what the situation is. The kid will always be labeled as "the first child to be delivered by their father". The world knows the way she was concieved. There will always be some kind of media exposure about the kid. If the parents stayed quiet, then there would have been a chance that it could have been a normal situation. I just think the parents are out for a big payday. Already on Oprah and betting that magazines like people will pay big dollars for the first baby pictures.

magic_idol 04-05-2008 02:33 PM

For me its not a big deal,
All bullshit aside its a simple case of a female having a baby who wants to be a father.
With all the probs in the world it could have been alot worse !!! Crack heads deliver underweight babies addicted from birth, Abusive violent families where the children get hurt & the worse one of all !!! it could come out look up at its mum & she could be  Britney Spears !!!!!

While i dont agree with the whole sex change thing ( i just dont get how a man could look at another mans arse & go wow thats sexy )If we were all the same it would be pretty boring:)

With all due respect I found the bolded funny.

A simple case of a female getting artificially
inseminated via sperm from her wife (she went
to the sperm bank and made a withdrawl for Dad)
but she likes being a man.
The family (mom and dad) decided
that the man who had the baby would play the Dad
and the Mom (artificial inseminator) would play the role
of the mom. The Dad is going to write a book about
his/her childhood which involves the suicide of her mother.

Simple?
I found it fairly complicated.
Which of course is why Oprah
payed these people to bring it out
oh so privately and then called it a
diversity issue.

I do agree there are a lot worse ways to raise a child
but that is not what was being discussed. And hopefully
the child is born healthy and happy. I think between the
book and the family appearance on Oprah, low socioeconomic
status will not be a problem. People Magazine is also involved
so its all good.
