Haber, how many you have? You think you could handle a Saturday with me, at Churchill?

Pointg5 07-16-2006 08:02 AM

I am going to try, I went the last time at Churchill. The local sports radio show had trivia call in contests almost daily for about 2 weeks before the BC. The questions were easy and it was easy to get in, I guess people around here weren't that enthused to go to the BC, the seats were great, in a box right at the finish line.

Here's the questions, I had to answer:

Who's the oldest jockey to win a BC?

Who's the oldest trainer to win a BC?
What horse did he do it with?

I went to the last BC at Belmont and have to say that I was disapointed with how NYRA ran the whole thing. Slow tellers, little to no tote machines. It was a total mess in my eyes. It completely affected my handicapping and prevented me from calling audibles on my bets throughout the day. I'm hesitant to go to Churchill this year because of last years experience. I'm wondering if this is typical for BC day or will Churchill do a better job of running it. I would love to go if I thought it is going to be run better. I'm wondering if anybody has any insight on Churchill during the big days.

You might have gotten chosen before hand because you work for Churchill Downs....makes sense if you ask me

slotdirt 07-17-2006 09:40 AM

I sent in my app months ago, but haven't heard a peep from NTRA. Figure they'd give you an email notice or something of the like.

just checked airfare from Tampa - $230 round trip. If I dont get selected...what are my chances scoring a ticket when I get there?

31lengths 07-17-2006 07:51 PM

anyone know where it will be in 2008 ?

TeddyRex 07-17-2006 08:42 PM

Wonder if I lost the lottery?

I haven't heard a thing. And I am planning on going.

2MinsToPost 07-17-2006 08:48 PM

smooth sailing. some of the local Ticket Brokers here in Columbus, Ohio that I have purchased Buckeye tickets from have said that the highest we (me, my pal and his wife) are looking at around $125 a ticket max for great seats. I trust these cats cause they have been around forever.

Thats from Orbits.com. If anyone else has it cheaper, let me know. If I dont get selected, there is a 50-50 chance that I'll still go and hopefully get a ticket there. Do they sell any tickets the day of the race?

slotdirt 07-18-2006 07:22 AM

BC tickets aren't usually that terribly hard to come by, particularly at a pretty good venue like Churchill. I just can't believe I haven't heard from NTRA yet.

Did I hear correctly that Churchill will be getting it every other year now? I thought I read that somewhere. Well, I could have wrote down and then read it, I guess. :D

slotdirt 07-18-2006 09:13 AM
