Is Curlin coming back?

Does it seem likely that Curlin will return to the track for 2008?

The signs (Stonerstreet buying more control, still at the track) seem to be there.

Isn't this a huge gift for race fans during the holiday season?

I think it is and I hope he comes back. I was on the SS/AGS bandwagon and Curlin was a main rival but I'll have to root for him is they decide to send him back to the races.

Of course not. Jess Jackson likes watching horses ________.

VOL JACK 12-21-2007 11:00 AM

I don't know why they don't just make the announcement. There no way they could get a stud deal and a book of mares before the breeding season satrts in like 5 weeks.

They just interviewed Bolton on HRTV (phone interview, he was at the Ocla airport) , he said that Jackson is going to campaign him next year.

Excellent. I'm guessing the Donn will be the logical next start.

He didn't elaborate, just sort of the expected "high road" dialog... "Jess is a great guy", "Jess is great for the game", "they made me a very generous offer", yada yada...He did make it point to mention Jackson's intentions with Curlin, which has to be viewed as a positive...I'd go to GP to see the Donn if he's in it.

I'm already going and was excited to see Daaher there. If it winds up Daaher vs Curlin it could be a heck of a race.

He's in New Orleans. Wouldn't it make sense to start him in the New Orleans Handicap?

That's exactly what Asmussen suggested when asked early last week.

You mean you don't think Grasshopper is going to scare him off?

I figured they'd go G1 but I guess in his case he doesn't really need to put together much of a resume this year, if he wins the BC Classic he is HOY.

When you are top dog, you can set your own schedule and let other trainers/connections decide whether or not to take you on...I wonder if they are considering the DWC?

sumitas 12-21-2007 01:12 PM

Is the Whitney sold out yet ?

"I definitely have ideas in my head." - Steve Asmussen

HAHAHA! "I definitely have two hands...I think. Hmm."

Hmmm, Curlin romps in the New Orleans, Daaher romps in the Donn, and Premium Tap romps in Saudi Arabia. Talk about a dream scenario for the World Cup.

YEah

I'd love to see the BIG HORSE sprint on the turf. I can only imagine the dream race:

CURLIN

ENGLISH COLONY

GENUINE DEVOTION (yeah, the filly)

SLEEPING INDIAN

going 6F on the BEL widener

Can somebody get Ecclesiastic or Weigelia cranked up?

Also, does BTW take Sleeping Indian in this spot? I hear he's a big fan.

Man, what a race.

I laughed.....a lot.

Great answer to a deserving post.

He's gotta go somewhere to duck last year's Derby winner, Believeinmenow, and Sprint champion OutofGwedda.

Kasept 12-21-2007 02:44 PM

Just listening to TVG through headsets from studio in FL, and Millie Ball and whoever is on with her just said that Jackson (or Asmussen) said earlier today in an interview that Curlin will run in '08...

That's right.

I bet you didn't know that...

Guns don't kill people, Curlin kills people.

When the boogeyman goes to sleep at night, he checks under his bed for Curlin.

Outer Space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet as Curlin.

Curlin doesn't wear a watch, he decides what time it is.

Curlin doesn't get frostbite. Curlin bites frost.

letswastemoney 12-21-2007 05:41 PM

wow Curlin is more incredible than I thought!
