Props to the Falcons

They really showed Petrino what he is going to miss. Way to show up and play tough after all the talking of feeling "betrayed" like they aren't getting paid. Everybody is piling on Petrino and maybe I am just being contrary but this team is a pile of underachievers and dogs. And how is him quiting a professional team that is 3-10 any different than Rich Rodriguez quitting his BCS Bowl team and leaving his ala mater for more money at Michigan? I just fail to understand how they are aren't the same thing. I am not condoning either guy but it seems like one guys is getting killed while the other one is getting off the hook. And why is no one coming down on the real culprits, the college presidents, who are forcing these guys to leave a few weeks before the seasons are finished? Would it be so hard for the scum bags at the NCAA to pass a rule that you cant hire another teams head coach until after everyones season is over?

OOOOOOOOOO

Unearthing one TrueSwine ....uncovers a legion of TrueSwine.

You're right. But that would mean the new coach would miss riding around in boosters' private planes to make these December recruiting trips. Can't have that.

So coaching somwhere 7 years and leaving a program in better shape than you found it is worse than skipping out in year one of the program? Maybe those crazy hillbillies should have thought about that before they started threatning his wife & family after the Pitt loss. Don't think they're nuts? Take a look.

Oh and yeah I'm biased.

YOU'LL be wishing for the good ole days. Ohio State will be in trouble, no doubt about it.

ddthetide 12-17-2007 11:02 AM

from what i've heard, wvu players are upset because they have No coaching staff for the bowl game. most or all coaches are goin to michigan. thats not fair to the kids.

obviously, I feel for the players....it's not fair to them. Hopefully they'll get that figured out I only heard 2 coaches and the strength/conditioning coach so far.

i guess they'll give the head job to terry "buster brown" bowden and let him scrounge up a staff. for the bowl game.

otisotisotis 12-17-2007 11:20 AM

if they had playoffs, coaches wouldn't have to jump ship and leave kids hanging.

Coach Pants 12-17-2007 11:33 AM

So Rudy's wife took the head coaching job at Michigan? Because that's who they're getting. I've never seen a more pussywhipped man than him.

Please ma'am.

This guy is doomed at Michigan and he doesn't even know it.

horseofcourse 12-17-2007 11:46 AM

So when did Les Miles change his name to Rich Rodriguez?? This is simply a freaky friday body switch is all I can come up with.

Coach Pants 12-17-2007 11:54 AM

He's a terrible coach. I was relieved when his wife said no to Bama.

Pitt? Are you kidding me?

petrino quit on his team in mid season. players found out he was leaving from interim coach. spurrier, saban, rodriguez left after season but before contracts was finished.

I hate to tell you this Delta but the Falcons season was over as soon as Vick got busted and the mid season in the NFL is the last week of October not the second week of December. And Rodriguez's team still has its biggest game yet to play so it is hard to say it is after the season for them.

one thing for sure michigan does not have the right players to run the CRR offense. i still think his offense is a gimmick. it could take him 4-5 yrs to get the right qb and personnel. will michigan wait that long?
4-5 yrs from now les miles will be the white knight riding in to save michigan.

they're too busy regulating the kids not being able to transfer to another team. i mean, the NERVE of those kids wanting to move to another school after a change of heart.
look at mitch mustain, essentially lied to by the coach about how the team would be--he realizes he doesn't fit that scheme, and the coach got personal and vindictive, so he transfers and then has to sit a year.

then there's reggie herring. said he would remain at arkansas when nutt left to coach them for the bowl game. good ol houston wanted him to be his DC at old miss, but reggie said he had to wait til after the cotton bowl. so nutt hired someone else. the early bird gets the worm.

it's a shame that the colleges take it so hard when their coach leaves before the bowl, but they then turn around and start their own "you have to come NOW" witchhunt.

since kids can't be recruited except during a certain time period, or hire an agent, or declare for the draft, i think coaches should have to wait til post season as well to make a change.

You said it.

A good coach will fit the scheme to his players. This is reminding me of the Nebraska idiot AD nightmare. That was worse ,of course, since he out and out fired Solich.

I can't believe this search of Michigan's was so superficial. I could be wrong ( and Dannie may be a giant) ,but this just doesn't makes any sense.

And it's not like the "spread" is exactly unbeatable either.

Spit...I mean Pitt didn't have a big problem with it.

steve 12-17-2007 06:43 PM

michigan has become wvu--first beulin in basketball and now rodiguez
