Aqueduct - 12/1
Finally got COLD in NY. Supposed to hover around freezing today with a stiff breeze. Hope they stay on the Turf.
Forecasted to get down in the teens tonight, so the Turf course may be frozen by tomorrow AM. Potentially last licks today for the Turf runners today? No strong opinions for me in early races, but late pick4 looks playable. Gonna work on a set of tix with Pointman. Happy to hear from anyone with opinions on the sequence or other races for that matter. Good luck today! |
AQU stays On Turf for Sat,
|
Just a couple worth taking a look at...
In the 1st, Jim Jerkens put's in Jack's Express. In the 9th, watch for Wingman. |
The jocks were not happy at all about running on it in the 6th yesterday - in fact had a meeting in the paddock and were thinking about refusing to ride unless it was taken off, then thought better of it...
This is the last day I imagine, even though there were some written in the book for Sunday all the races are on the inner...I'm sure Andy has the scoop  |
The John Kimmell horse can run a bit in the 2nd , i'll use him with the Asmussen horse in the early DD
|
Woah...scratches change my pick4 pretty substantially. Time to upgrade some "B's and C's"...
Anyone know how the Turf races were won yesterday? Didn't get to watch them and running around this AM. |
Good work above with Raynicks Fan!!!
Nice price to boot! $18.20 |

If someone can post how DD shakes out, I would appreciaate it. I had Raynicks with #4 and #5. |
The 5 won the 2nd. . . Double paid $41.50/$1. . . Congrats

In the 8th, Oprah Winny looks quite tough, but Trombetta usually brings them in live. Hope Steve hits this thread today, usually has a handle on the live Trombetta horses, would love to hear your opinion Steve. Andy, your opinion on this one would be appreciated as well.

Small play at a pk4. May play others with pmac:
6: All 7: 2 8: 2,6 9: 2,7 Hoping for value in the 6th. Good luck to everyone playing! |
Not enough time to properly combine gradings with Nick, so I will stab pk4 alone.
AA $1 R6 -1,4,8 R7 - 2,5 R8 - 2,6 R9 - 1,2,9 $36 AB $1 R6 - 1,4,8 R7 - 2,5 R8 - 2,4,6 R9 - 1,2,7,9,10 $90 AC's $1 R6 - 6 R7 - 2 R8 - 2,6 R9 - 1,2,9 $6 R6 -1,4,8 R7 - 1,10 R8 - 2 R9 - 1,2,9 $18 R6 -1,4,8 R7 - 2 R8 - 3 R9 - 1,2,9 $9 R6 -1,4,8 R7 - 2 R8 - 2,6 R9 - 4,5,8 $18 |
Tossing in another pk4:

I stink.
Punched those ticket before looking at the tote because I was running around. Also thought the 1A was in (which is just plain careless). Knew I had to include JV horse in the 6th, but thought he was very beatable. No regrets keeping the #8 in there, but if I waited to finalize until I saw the board I likely would have used American Image. He was taking good action and I excluded him completely. It was the llowest quality leg and the one I was most uncomfortable with. Yet I still played it without looking at the board. What a dip sh*t... |

Don't be so tough on yourself we all do stupid things. Look at me leaving out the Favorite in last Saturday's Night Cap because he was trying Turf for the 1st time. Anyway here are my Big A Plays for the Day: All late Pick 4s: 3,4 / 2,8 / 2 / 2,7,8,9 - $16 3,4 / 2,8 / 2,6,8 / 2,7 - $24 (Had to include K. Starlet as I own 2%) 8 / 2,8 / 2 / 2,7,8,9 - $8 Also made some plays in the Calder all Stakes Pick 4 and an exacta in the feature at the Fairgrounds as it was the thorograph ROW. I've been doing pretty well playing their ROW. Would have posted sooner but I was busy clearing some items on the honey-do list. Good Luck to all playing along. |
Good luck HH.
I guess if that what it takes for me to learn my lesson... It's not so bad... I will NOT be playing any pick4's without watching the first leg tote. MAYBE if I have an exceptionally strong opinion in the first leg. Even at that, it just makes no sense to give up that advantage, even if you don't adjust your play. |
Good luck HH and Pointman. Both live to 2,7 for a buck in the pick4.

Come on R Clear Victory. |
Well played, Guys - Congrats!
|
Nice job guys!!
I would have had $2 ticket to both the winner and 2nd place finisher Wisp ($1,300 will pay) if I made correct substitution based on tote. Adds a bit of insult to injury. Just adding that #3 to my race 6 C cover ticket would have gotten me $307 on a $6 extra investment. Live and learn... On to tomorrrow. |
Thank you guys, I appreciate it. The approach made sense today for me playing all in the 6th as I just felt like I couldn't get a handle on that race. To me the 2 stood out in the 7th, the 2,6 stood out in 8th (Trombetta always dangerous when he ships in, picks his spots well) and I loved the 2 in the 9th. Nice job as well HH, lets come back and get em again tomorrow.

The ALL button makes sense when you have one race in the sequence that is hopeless for credible angles but I struggle with 2 races or a third in that vein as these are the P4's that cash the best tickets because either 2 "C" plays or 3 "B" plays win races setting up payoffs.
"Caveman" tickets are certainly more expensive but when you cap the thing correctly but don't cash the P4 because your cute with the A/A/B/A thing you feel like you want to ".......?" fill in your own inappropriate expression of anger here!! Tomorrow there is a nice late 4 with only 1 race where I can see either singling or choosing only 2 horses (8th) but the MSW 6th and late finale have about 6 horses who could easily win while the other stake probably has 5 decent plays in it. If 3 races have prices you have a nice nugget so to some extent you can't just corner one "B" or "C" with "A" plays because not only are you likely to miss but also screw yourself when you thought the race was likely to pay nicely. Caveman sometimes is the play for a sequence if you can afford it.... |
Dociu3,
Totally agree with you on the ABAA tickets. I can't try to zig zag around leaving B's off. That's why I have been including a $1 "Caveman AB Ticket" as part of my play. Costs a bit extra, but I am certainly not at the level of play. We have been trying to limit our use of C horses to horses we want to beat, but can't fully toss; horses with an angle but can't justify investing as a B; or a real rain maker with an outside chance to blow up a ticket if we are very right in other 3 legs. |
Thanks!
I just didn't trust Oprah in the feature. I hit 3 out of 4 at Calder because I was stupid and eliminated J'Ray in the first leg. Thats two weeks in a row I had 3/4 and TAP beat me with the ML favorite, what and dumb ass I am. You would have thought I would've learned my lesson last week. To think when I handicapped and went through the races I included J'Ray and later subsituted for her to include the winner in the last race. I'm a little hesitant to look at tomorrow's card as there is some NASTY weather being forecasted for the area. I'm thinking the jocks and track management may decided not to run. |
Local. TV forecast calling for dry and cold tonight, continued cold (30's) and flurries tomorrow. Although weather.com paints a bit of a worse picture.
|
I had heard last night 1 to 3 inches of snow, but it seems now that they are just predicting flurries. Pretty safe to cap, anyway, can always go with FG or Hollywood if no racing.
