Stupid NFL Network and Comcast

Can't even watch the game tonight, I guess my only option is Buffalo Wild Wings, I think they will probably have the game on.

What are you guys going to do to watch the game tonight?

Scav 11-29-2007 01:34 PM

You guys just need to get enough people to bitch about it. I have Comcast here in Chicago and we get the NFL Network, albeit at an additional $5 per month, but whatever, you get three Fox Sports, some soccer crap and TVG.

This happens to be the best part of the package. The highlight reels that they show are ridiculously good.

Cowboys by a landslide tonight anyways. The Pack gets brought back down to earth and exposed for what they are, a highly mediocre team. Not that that's not enough to win the NFC.

SniperSB23 11-29-2007 01:53 PM

I get it at home through Dish Network but am going out to watch it at a sports bar.

\

you get tvg with the package through comcast???? Looks like the extra $5 a month sounds worth it.

IrishofNDMan 11-29-2007 02:06 PM

I have to throw an ND reference into this thread as well.

Looks to be a great game tonight between the two best teams in the NFC. Should be a high scoring and exciting game, that I see the Cowboys coming out on top of. Ex Notre Dame rb Julius Jones of the Cowboys vs. Ex Notre Dame rb Ryant Grant of the Packers. Doesn't get much better than that!

As much as I hate betting it, for you cannot win until the time expires, I believe the under would be my play here. 30-13.

I try to keep my partisanship limited to my name on DT, but to call Green Bay highly mediocre is just wrong. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect them to be 10-1, but you don't get that record with the strength of schedule they have, winning back to back at KC and at Denver ( Mon night), moving the ball at will without a running game, and then developing a running game, having the best 3rd down defense in the NFL, etc by being "mediocre".

As far as the game tonight, Dallas will score, but their secondary, outside of Newman is suspect at best and will be lit up by the best top to bottom 5 receivers in the league. Dallas might win, but it will be close.

And I think it's interesting that everyone says the AFC rules, but even with the greatest teams ever to play in the NFL (NE, Indy) in the AFC, the NFC is still leading the head to head match ups TY.

i don't know...mediocre is a questionable word...what makes you say that?

Crown@club 11-29-2007 02:28 PM

How about a cable company that has the NFL Network, but is not allowed to broadcast the football games?!! Yes very much true here.

How can that be? You mean you can get the NFL Network, but they won't show the game?

declansharbor 11-29-2007 02:38 PM

IMO, they are in the worst division in the worst conference in football. They don't have that tough a schedule if you look at it. No Pitts, NE or Indy. They squeeked by a good number of teams. (Although that can't be a detraction. Good teams win close games.)
Don't get me wrong, they are a good team. A mediocre team. This very well could be their last loss of the regular season. That's not saying much given their remaining games. I guess I'm just waiting for Favre to implode and throw his ill advised INT's.
They have very solid WR corps. Solid TE given that they stay with Lee.

Plus, they beat my Eagles (without a competent Punt returner) and Brett Favre's wife is super hot. Other than that, I have no reason not to like them. If they keep the win column going in that direction, no way Mike McCarthy doesn't get Coach of the Year.

Good Luck tonight,+thank Andy Reid for Al Harris' bump coverage, lol...

ALostTexan 11-29-2007 02:38 PM

I have Comcast, and pay for the NFL Network. I would be more than willing to give it up, though, in exchange for HRTV...

Crown@club 11-29-2007 02:39 PM

Yes. I'm trying to figure out, how does the fee from the NFL Network rise when a football game is being shown than any other time that they are broadcasting.

I'll give you a number to call and you can listen to the message.

I'm wondering if this is going to happen with the 2 college bowl that the NFL Network has this year. The Insight bowl most definitely might have local interest around here. Wouldn't this be infringement upon the NFL and NCAA

Worst than the AFC EAST (Sure NE is#1, but the rest of the division), AFC West, NFC South and NFC West?

I remember you're an Eagle guy and I don't blame you for thinking you gave one away at Lambeau...and yes, agreed on Reid and Harris point

Not worth splitting hairs on good vs mediocre...guess the mediocre caught me off guard because I honestly don't see them that way. With the teams Minn, Chicago and Detroit have all beat, I think the division is a lot more respectable than the AFC East less NE and the AFC WEst and NFC WEst top to bottom.

Yea, I guess I was wrong in splitting hairs with the NFC. The whole thing stinks, save certain games. Each AFC East team does have to play the Pats twice a year. The Jets aren't as bad as their record indicates. The fins, who don't deserve capitalization, lose alot of close ones. The Bills have given teh Cowboy's their biggest scare for that second loss. Closer than either of our teams will get.

I, as always, have worded it wrong. They are a good team, just not a great team that deserves the buzz week in week out.
The fan in me wants you to win by a ton. The realist in me says The TO and RoMO show keeps clicking.

I hope everyone keeps picking the Cowboys, because that only means the packers will destroy them. Romo has been great at times, but he has also been terrible at times. As long as Woodson can play and they limit Witten I believe the packers will win this one. I for one can't wait to see TO bitching at Romo on the sidelines, because Al Harris is all over him and Romo can't get him the ball. Should be fun...

Sorry, getting a little jacked already. Everybody is picking the cowboys. All the local guys even. No respect for the green and gold, hopefully they earn that tonight on the field!

horseofcourse 11-29-2007 03:35 PM

I'm not watching nor have much desire to watch it. I see plenty of football games on cable. Missing a few Thursday night NFL games won't kill me. the internet will track it and there will be plenty of highlights all over television after the game.

I know..can't wait.

Funny..I've read some good articles that besides the home crowd, the way the Packer offense is built, they might be better off playing in Dallas in Jan. Besides Favre, that team really has no cold weather experience and won't get a ton in Dec. and it sure is a lot easier to throw there than GB in Jan.

OK..maybe I'm just getting ready for tomorrow if they lose tonight

SniperSB23 11-29-2007 03:37 PM

I'm thinking 11 combined interceptions by Favre and Romo tonight.

TO is gonna manhandle that long haired b*tch Al Harris. When Owens was part of my beloved 49ers he broke Green Bays heart, how sweet it was to be a little kid who loved the 49ers watching that game, I'm sure you Packer fans remember that. TO is gonna break the hearts of all you Packer fans once again.

I agree with you. It will be hard to throw the ball when it is 20 below zero and the wind is whipping at Lambeau in late Jan; however we have tickets for the NFC championship if it is at Lambeau. So I am still pulling for that!

If you truly remember that game ( were you born yet?) , you'll know that he should never had even had a chance to catch that ball because of the fumble that wasn't called prior, but anyway...does TO have any rings?

and aren't you cheering for GB because of your HS chum Ruvell?

There is the video for you Packer fans. This catch and many other great tds as a Niner is why TO is still my favorite player even if he is in a Cowboys uniform.

Losing this game is no big deal for the packers. They will win their division and they will have a first round bye. Playing at Dallas is not a disadvantage for this packer team in Jan; with that said I still am hoping for a win! Wanna bet TO has less than 100 yrds tonight?

I do remember that game, I was either 11 or 12 years old. I have actually been a Niners fan since I was like 7, and I never missed a 49ers game that I got on tv in Michigan, and def. never missed a Niners playoff game. I remember the Packers beating my Niners and making me cry a few times when I was younger, and I remember being about to cry that game, until Yound and Owens connected on that. Still probably the greatest memory I have from watching a Niners game.

I hope Ruvell scores a few times tonight, but Owens is still the man.

I prefer to watch the video from the year before when we stomped the niners at Candlestick, or the video of Jacke hitting the 53 yarder in OT at Lambeau, or the playoff game at Lambeau watching D Howard put up points in the first 5 minutes against SF..So many to choose from

IrishofNDMan 11-29-2007 03:56 PM

one more thing, you are right, if they had instant replay at the time that never would have happened, but they didn't, and the Catch II did happen so all is well.

here's the financial explanation from espn last week. nfl wants on basic cable, cable co. wants it as a premium channel. nfl is charging to much to be basic cable. for small cable co. it breaks out like $2 per household for ONE channel. bigger co. can do it for like $1-1.50 per house, so cable co. are making it a premium channel or won't carry it all and the nfl doesn't like it and won't lower the price.

sorry, i side with the cable co. on this one. we pay enough for cable as it is. we have internet, digital and HD for $100 a month and we have NO premium channels. i don't need the nfl network for $2 more a month.

Jacke hitting the 53 yarder in OT was one of my favorite moments from Lambeau. So many great memories there, but that was one to remember. I love Lambeau in December/January

I still am a Niners fan, and had high hopes that they would be back this year and years to come, instead they took a step back. Alex Smith is obviously not the answer.

With the drafting of Brady Quinn I have become a Browns fan as well, and they are on their way up atleast!

Not meaning to burst your bubble, but, HOw in he world does everyone picking the Cowboys have to do with the Packers destroying them???

SO this means that 1-5 or 2-5 shots in horse racing are going to lose because everyone picks them??

The Boys are the favorites for a reason, they are the most logical winners.

All i can say, now that I have the first round bye in my fasntasy football wrapped up, is let's go Donald Lee. Show me your worthy of starting over Gates next week.
