Kansas reverting to form

they are done...

Cannon Shell 11-24-2007 08:25 PM

And I have no doubt that Hawaii could beat either of these 2 teams...

The Bid 11-24-2007 08:28 PM

I agree with you Cannon, not real impressed. Hopefully the Buckeyes can back in and drill WVU

ALostTexan 11-24-2007 08:30 PM

Very, very ugly. On the other hand, WVU looked pretty damn good...

I would much rather see OSU/WVU than either of these 2 teams again.

The Bid 11-24-2007 08:34 PM

This is the first time Ive seen these two teams play football, Im used to these two squaring off at hoops. Seeing a #2 and #4 next to their names just doesnt look right.

ddthetide 11-24-2007 08:43 PM

the big 8 still belongs to oklahoma and texas.
CS, just in case, i made some phone calls to rent an RV to follow you on your walk to ku to buy those cheeseburgers.:D

Give it to Oklahoma.
Texas, as much as it pains me, does not deserve any bowl bid.
We suc.

Maybe the offensive line and defensive secondary solidify next year.
We have a QB, we have a RB, we got a slew of WR's.

Sadly, ATM will be better now that the Fran Man is gone.

Cannon Shell 11-24-2007 09:01 PM

Just off the top of my head what about this 16 team playoff
1. WVU vs 16. S. FL (revenge game for only WVU loss)(Outback Bowl)
2. Mizzou vs. 15.Tennessee (Big 12 vs. SEC)(Peach/Chik Fil a Bowl)
3. Ohio St vs. 14. Illinois (revenge game for OSU loss)(Gator Bowl)
4. Georgia vs. 13. Arizona State (SEC vs Pac 10)(Sun Bowl)
5. LSU vs. 12. Boston College (former number 1 vs. former number 2)(Alamo Bowl)
6. USC vs. 11. Hawaii (Best team? vs. unbeaten team)(Holiday Bowl)
7. Va Tech vs. Kansas (overrated ACC team vs overrated Big 12 team)(Capital One Bowl))
8. Oklahoma vs. Florida (Big 12 vs Heisman winner)(Cotton Bowl)

Potential 2nd round matchups
WVU vs Oklahoma (Orange Bowl) or if there are upsets S. FL vs FL (how big of an Orange Bowl would that be?)
Mizzou vs Va Tech (Fiesta Bowl) or Mizzou vs Kansas rematch
Ohio State vs USC (Rose Bowl) Traditional matchup
Georgia vs LSU (Sugar Bowl) What should have been the SEC title game

Potential semi finals (Final 4)
WVU vs LSU or FL vs LSU rematch (or what a game WVU vs FL would be)
Mizzou vs Ohio State (for the Bid)

Final
WVU vs Ohio State

I guess we may get without my playoff scenario

Funny how good of a coach Mack Brown was with Vince Young and how bad is he without him...

I was going to make a big bet on Mizzou but EVERYBODY picked them. Sat it out. I wish i had a cheeseburger right about now.

Danzig 11-24-2007 09:08 PM

there are 64 bowl slots, with 5 and 6 record teams either on the bubble, or bowl eligible. this system is a ridiculous joke. too many bowl games out there.

they need to re do the system, with top teams playing other top teams all year. to hell with this playing four or five tougher teams, and padding the win stats ( unless you're 'bama vs la-monroe!! ) with games vs much lesser opponents....thus assuring a bowl bid.

btw, when did 'FBS' replace 1-a? and now 2-a is 1-a....i guess i slept thru that change...

Mack Brown has never been a good coach.
He is a good guy and a great recruiter.
In fact Brown may be the best recruiter in the country.

When Texas lost their D-coor. the tackling became girly-man wrestling.
Last year Texas was fine until McCoy got injured. (overrated but fine)
Texas needs a defensive coordinator as good as we had.

The Bid 11-24-2007 09:14 PM

Cannon thanks for the OSU fictional playoff run. I wish the college game had a system along those lines.

pgardn 11-24-2007 09:21 PM

Ohio State has been the most consistent team.
But their loss at home against Illinois was a clean butt whipping.
Every team looks vulnerable... which is cool.

actually, every team has acted as tho they don't want to be the #1 team. can't remember the last time it was this up in the air week after week.

The Bid 11-24-2007 09:26 PM

OSU's loss at home to Illinois was disgusting

Very Copperesque

That was the killer...I figured after he picked them there was no way they could carry that much weight. I have done very well lately (including betting the under in the Hawaii/Boise St last night. What were the odds going into the 3rd quarter that game wasn't going over? 20-1?) I decided not to press my luck. You know how weak Kansas schedule is? Not only have they not lost, they are 10-0 vs the spread. Until tonight.

p.s. sorry about the redboard.

From ESPN.com's UCLA-Oregon recap....

"It was over when... Dennis Dixon suffered a season-ending knee injury against ASU. Losing backup Ryan Leaf in the first quarter against UCLA didn't help. The Ducks never got on track."

You can't be serious...you're talking about a team that outside the island had to go to overtime to beat Louisiana Tech and San Jose State, and kick a last play 45 yard field goal to beat Nevada. They would not hold either Missouri or Kansas under 50 off the island.

Missouri is as good as anyone in the country. They rolled up 40 on an Illinois team OSU couldn't move the ball on. We'll see what happens next week. I think OU with Bradford is as good as anyone as well. That was a bad break when they lost him against T Tech.

You are badly, badly underrating those two teams that played last night. I was very impressed with both of them. It all came down to Kansas missing their field goals and turning the ball over and Missouri didn't miss theirs or turn it over. Either one of those teams would mutilate Ohio State. (Didn't you see OSU against the Florida spread last year?? either one could score as many ponts as they needed to score against them.) these teams aren't the big 10 crap offenses like MSU, PSU, Meat chicken, Wisconsin...they'd be playing....they didn't fare too well against the one spread like offense they did face in Illinois.

horseofcourse 11-25-2007 09:50 AM

(mangino not being in the championship game has upset me more than I thought it would!!)

The Bid 11-25-2007 10:10 AM

We will get to see Ohio State drill one of those 2 teams soon

I know this is not a logical way to look at matchups but when its all you got... Missouri drilled the team that drilled Ohio State.

Ohio State may have unwittingly found a way to get to the BCS championship. Dont play any games at the end of the season. Boy it will be great to see Ohio State play in the BCS championship after sitting on the shelf for about two months.

The flippin bowls have to turn into a playoff system. This waiting around watching all these crap bowls is ridiculous. We have no idea what type of teams we will see. Only two months to prepare. Absurd.

Ohio State will be playing West Virginia or USC either in the National Championship game or Rose Bowl. They have zero shot of playing Kansas or Missouri unless pigs sprout wings and Pitt beats West Virginia in Morgantown. That will certainly not happen.

Fortunately we do have some college playoffs.

Unfortunately we don't get to see much of the 1-AA playoffs which are actually quite fun. Just yesterday you had the 2nd rated team (McNeese State) getting drilled at home by Eastern Washington and the 3rd rated team (Montana) losing at home by 1 point to a team (Wofford) that did what Meat Chicken couldn't do...(beat App State.). But all it did was prove that high rankings in 1-AA mean about as much as they do in 1-A...nothing. Which is why it is generally a good thing to actually play games to decide a champion.

They played 2 of those games in miserable weather and one without their best player who happens to be the QB. I did not say they were the best team in the country or they should be in the BCS or championship game. I said simply that they could beat those teams which I believe to be true. If you dont think Hawaii would put up 40+ on those teams on a good field conditions you have missed the boat. There are no teams that I have seen play this year that could stop them from scoring, and scoring alot. At Hawaii where the conditions are always good, they can score alot of points. College teams just aren't built to defend that kind of offense which is why they are so successful despite having top talent. Though I would say that the recivers they have are as good at what they do as any in the college game. They run good routes and dont drop the ball and they can all run after the catch.

By the way USC would beat a combined team of Kansas and Missouri by 20.
