Stud Fees for Invasor and Jazil Announced

http://breeding.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=40659

Is it just me, or does $35,000 seem kind of low for Invasor, considering his race record? I can think of some three year olds that retired last year with higher fees, though they have somewhat flashier breeding. Just curious what everyone else thinks about this.

letswastemoney 09-06-2007 07:33 PM

ooh does the $12,500 for Jazil include the pony ride??:) :)

my miss storm cat 09-06-2007 07:33 PM

That seems reeeeally low for Invasor!

ateamstupid 09-06-2007 07:36 PM

They both seem about right to me.

sumitas 09-06-2007 07:38 PM

Invasor's broodmare sire Interprete is the sire of new western NY sire Contante.

_ed_ 09-06-2007 08:09 PM

Would have guessed about $75k for Invasor, surprising.

Actually both sound just right to me, in the context that for Invasor, Tiznow is $30k, Street Cry is $30k (going up, surely); for Jazil, Petionville (also a son of Seeking the Gold) is $15k.

I guessed about tree fiddy.

If you handicap poly you might try to know that. If you are an owner you might want a horse that looks to be versatile on a number of surfaces, including poly.

I'd send a mare to Invasor for $35k. . . atleast you'll get some different blood. . .

not really. he ran this year for the same reason that his stud fee isn't as high as some lately such as mineshaft, gz...fellow hoy's who weren't top 3 yo's...but his pedigree isn't as fashionable as theirs, or as commercially appealing.

altho i think jazils fee is a bit high, it's because HIS merits aren't really that good--but had lil' sis not won the belmont.....his family is a good one, and that counts a lot. i like him better than some of the other recent belmont winners, and think he has a better shot then some of them at being a success.

He (Contante) just ran at Presque Isle Downs today - and out photo finished one horse in a stirring battle for last place.

Guess that answers my question above

The Indomitable DrugS 09-06-2007 09:12 PM

In other Presque Isle Downs news - an N1X allowance race at one mile with a purse of $73,500 was won by a horse who was claimed out of a 5K N2L race at Mountaineer just two starts back.

These entry level allowance races are even weaker than I thought they'd be.

Why would you want to spend that kind of money to breed to a horse whos racing career started in - of all god forsaken places - Uruguay?

Had his owner not sent an agent down their to buy a silly endurance horse - who's to say anyone else would have found him anytime soon?

As for Jazil - what a horrible stallion he is sure to make.

Thought this might be of interest to some:

That is quite a find.

The Indomitable DrugS 09-06-2007 10:08 PM

The horse he nipped in the battle for last place was former West Virgina Derby winner Real Dandy...who's earnings now stand at 995K.

I think both of them could use a retirement.

I think if they find the right pedigrees to breed with Invasor they can get some useful animals.

So far so good, how's school going? (and of course I miss late night drunken trips to the barn with Lori)

While I am not a fan of Jazil, I see a lot of similarty in his performances and Lemon Drop Kid[Iwas not a fan of his either]. LDK has produced some nice foals that seem to get better moving to the turf and stretching out.

I bet on Lemon Drop Kid. I knew Lemon Drop Kid. Lemon Drop Kid was a friend of mine. Jazil, you're no Lemon Drop Kid.

Just started again yesterday. Nothing to write home about, but it's manageable for the most part. You might wanna keep that second part a little more on the DL..

I would think that this is about right for the current market. Someone may want to correct me but I believe that his sire Candy Stripes has not been much of a sire of sires. His female female family is nothing to write home about either. Not that it is really going out on a limb but I would think that he may not make a great stallion.
