Any Given Saturday

this horse is absolutely beautiful and looks ready to take the Haskell. Works are amazing, he should win by at least 2 lenghts

whodey17 08-05-2007 02:10 PM

AGS is my pick to win the Haskell as well. I will single him on my pick 4 ticket (although I will have 2 tickets). I am also going to play him on top in a tri with All/All and $50 to win on him.

Bernardini 08-05-2007 02:37 PM

ags and not curlin ?? how is that possible ?

whodey17 08-05-2007 02:51 PM

Seattle--Matt Carruthers just said his pick was AGS. I guess we are no doomed.

This is Curlin's first race since the Belmont. He had a tough three race process in the Derby, Preakness and Belmont. AGS had a nice mile prep race and it ready to take this race. This is my two cents.

betting-wise, not much sense in taking curlin. can be vulnerable here--it's called beat the fave.

now, unless you truly think he's unbeatable, it makes sense to find the best to bet other than the fave. any given saturday is a good horse, and i can see making an argument for him.

imo, this race favors Curlin because he is a better closer than ASG. just my opinon. Although, i think HS has very little chance today.

I wouldnt be surprised if Any Given Saturday will be the favorite over Curlin. I mean its pretty obvious the word is out on AGS

What have you been smoking? Curlin will be odds on....6/5 at the highest. AGS and HS will both be in the 5/2 to 3/1 neighborhood. The morning line maker has it about right.

Coach Pants 08-05-2007 04:44 PM

I'd love 3/1 on AGS. Effin love it@!!!@#$#!!! Whooo it's hot today!

Wow, great performance.

So who goes to the Travers now?

***From Pletchers interview on TVG looks like he is planning on a Travers run. I can't wait for the Travers!

AGS is the top 3 year old now. The Travers is a must.

Storm Cadet 08-05-2007 05:37 PM

I hope he doesn't run in Travers...only 20 days out and Street Sense has the extra week...

I honestly think this year, the top 3 year old is just who has done what this week.

Think about it, ever since the Derby Preps started, the top 3 year old has changed every single week.

I believe we won't know who the top 3 year old this is untill after the Breeder's Cup.

Rudeboyelvis 08-05-2007 05:41 PM

Considering the way he came into the Wood off the Tampa Bay Derby (3 weeks rest), I would highly doubt we'd seem him in the Travers

That was a pretty awesome win.

As much as I'd love to see him square off with SS again in Saratoga, not sure the 20 days is in his best his best interest.

Solid effort today. Took some late money too - off at 9/5.

pmayjr 08-05-2007 06:45 PM

Nice win for AGS. Very impressive, but to keep things in perspective of the big picture, the BC, Classic, his 1 1/8 time was almost 2 seconds slower than Lawyer Ron's freakish effort in the Whitney

Forget for a second these races were run a week apart, they weren't even run in the same state. The final times are completely meaningless for comparison.

Danzig 08-05-2007 07:06 PM

very, very contentious group of three year olds...as for the race, i was busy here at home, and completely forgot about it! have to watch a replay later....

street sense tho remains the top of the heap, due to his derby win, and then his return in the dandy. and of course he did beat AGS earlier in the year.
heck of a group for sure!

AGS is getting better and better and Pletcher would be crazy not to run in the Travers. I still like Street Sense, but AGS has looked very good. Surprisingly dull for Curlin. Should be an interesting next 3 weeks.

hard to say....don't forget the whole dealy-deal with bluegrass cat last year....i know pletcher won't. he may skip the travers, and run him against older in the jcgc.

right on tho about comparing times.
