I must respectfuly disagree, but she will run a wonderful second. :)

Really excited for this card!

jwkniska 08-03-2007 08:34 AM

I hope everyone dumps a boatload of $$ on Citronade. Will make my money on Irridescence look even better.

8 days and counting... can't wait.

I'm not as familiar with the euro's for the million yet... need to do some homework on them before the 11th.

I personally think Citronnade has an excellent shot of the American runners if no one tries to run with her early. Lady of Venice has been outstanding this year as well, do you know if she is going?

the last I heard, L of V WAS planning on running. I agree with you that Citronnade, Lady of Venice and Honey Ryder are the three best US runners, but don't think they're in the same class as Irridescence (hasn't won as many races due to running in Group 1's against the boys). If the race was longer, then HR would be a better play... just think she needs more distance.

dellinger63 08-03-2007 09:01 AM

I think a lot depends on the weather during the next week. Right now the turf course is sidewalk firm but give us a couple days of rain and it could be very deep. No rain predicted for the next 5 days though.

more information will be coming here.

hopefully there will be replays, etc...

just checked and found that we've got 40% chance of thunderstorms for 5 days before next Sat. with it 90 degrees and 90% humidity, an afternoon thunderstorm wouldn't surprise me.

dellinger63 08-03-2007 09:43 AM

Hope it's not today.

because godolphin nominates horses they have no intention of running...

and they won't run if there is any problem whatsoever.

usually that problem ends up being that the horse is slow.

No way. Jennie R. goes from 50K claimer to GI winner in two and a half months.

You heard it here first.

zippyneedsawin 08-03-2007 10:36 AM

The Beverly D. is looking like a nice, competitive field.

brockguy 08-03-2007 10:38 AM

Doctor Dino is an interesting one.. Has good G1 form here and has had international race experience..

he's been off since Singapore in late May. Im just hoping this was the plan all along, but a prep run would have been nice!!

Scurlogue Champ 08-03-2007 12:39 PM

I think Pressing could compete....

You know, any weather forecast in Chicago isn't official without the Tom Skilling stamp of approval. :)

Same here but of course i always expect great things from Jarvis. SO happy he's training this boy now.....

Can't wait!

I just hope Spencer stays home. He cost me the NTRA pick 4 a couple of years ago when he got DQ'd. Frankie Dettori, also filled my acount with $$$ that day

:D

:D

I'll 2nd that... he cost me the winner, exacta, trifecta, AP special pick 4 that day!

my miss storm cat 08-03-2007 01:58 PM

Powerscourt still has nightmares.....:(

my miss storm cat 08-06-2007 03:27 PM

Doctor Dino has arrived..... Murtagh has the mount.

jwkniska 08-06-2007 05:13 PM

Look for there to be give in the ground on Saturday. Rain Sat, yesterday and more tonight thru Thursday.

It'll really surprise me if it's firm. I'm expecting soft/yielding.

jwkniska 08-06-2007 05:26 PM

take Axxos out of the Secretariat. Owner's decision.

Rob Roy's out of the million due to a foot bruise.

Also, jock switch on Irridescence... put Murtagh on and in Secretariat, put V. Espinoza on Mostacolli Mort.

brockguy 08-06-2007 06:21 PM

Murtagh is having a golden summer over here.. It might pay to follow him at Arlington!!

:D

Cost me the P4 that day too. Arlington Million day has now become the annual "I hate Jamie Spencer Day" for me!!! :D ......he didn't help me much on BC day that year either.

Zip, I hate to disagree with you, but I really think the Irridescence will roll. She's been pointed for this and the 6yr old Team Valor mare is in the best shape of her life according to de Kock. She's the ultimate shipper having won races in Hong Kong, Dubai, and South Africa. Also, 10 furlongs is her best distance and a mile and 3/16th hits her right between the eyes.

She's tougher than a $2 steak. Here's a video of her last race in a Group 1 versus some of the top European milers. Team valor colors with the shadow roll. The call is in french,

I need to check the form for his million horse, but I've been all over Irridescence for the Beverly D for a good long while (ever since I saw she was coming... can't wait to see her in person on Saturday).

I can't wait to lay my eyes on her as well. I saw Ouija Board in the '04 BC and I'm looking forward to seeing Irridescence up close. She looks like a beast in pictures and race videos.

Gonna be strange seeing her without Marwing.

My pick too..... without question.

Take pictures! :)

we also got some rain on Sat/Sun. Supposed to be dry today, more thunderstorms tomorrow, then be sunny for million day. Even with the sun on Fri/Sat, the turf course will still have some give in it.

Scav 08-07-2007 10:33 AM

Double D's call to the weather god got answered becuase the course will look absolutely beautiful with this rain, the course looked like **** on Thursday/Friday/Saturday

Funny you say that -- I was sitting there Saturday and Sunday wondering how they were going to pull it off, the area around Million lane...those first five or six paths looks like absolute crap.....not a very good visual for those on TV who will be talking about their internationally renowned turf course.

True

Everyone will be glad to know that Spencer is staying over here this year. Looks like a great field. Danak is very interesting, indeed.

Irridescence...... well, if she behaves then she will have a great chance, but chances of her being good are less than likely :D

Hope Admiralofthefleet will run and run well.

European raiders challenge for the Arlington Million

by Racing Post staff
.

THREE European-trained horses are set to take on top US turf performer After Market in Saturday's Arlington Million in Chicago.

Michael Jarvis saddles ex-Italian colt Pressing, while John Oxx runs Danak, who only lost his unbeaten record in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Johnny Murtagh, who also rides Irridescence for Mike de Kock in the Beverly D Stakes on the undercard, will partner Singapore third Doctor Dino for French-based Richard Gibson.

As well as dual Grade 1 winner After Market, thedomestic team will include last year's winner The Tin Man, now a nine-year-old. Godolphin's Stage Gift has been ruled out, however, as has last year's Champion Stakes runner-up Rob Roy, who has a bruised foot according to trainer Neil Drysdale.

On thesame card, Germany's Axxos has been ruled out of the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes for three-year-olds, where Admiralofthefleet (Mick Kinane) represents Ballydoyle and Dermot Weld saddles Fleeting Shadow (Pat Smullen).

Likely favourite for the $750,000 Beverly D is the Bobby Frankel-trained Citronnade, who has won four Graded stakes already in 2007 with a string of impressive front-running displays

Scav 08-08-2007 03:08 PM

Fully expect it to be Soft or Yielding with the 2 inches that we just recieved in the last 15 minutes
