Sumwon - The Saratoga Diaries

I fully expect all DeeTee-ers at Saratoga to stop by and see the girl daily, and post updates frequently! ("Sumwon woke up, ate some hay, and had a good bowel movement" :p )

On ATR today, Steve said he stopped by to see her twice today, both times she was sleeping. Any update on that?

peppermints must be a depressant!

hey steve, tell her i said hi baby girl!

Kasept 07-23-2007 08:07 PM

She was sleeping the third time too... :D

Was annoyed apparently by the drive from Louisville according to Cherie. Likes to lay down all afternoon.. and all night.. and was none too pleased at having to stand in the van for 17 hours...

She looks great though and appears pleased with the new digs... Barn situation could not make it easier for people to come see her. More tomorrow.

Have to say, it's nice having her here.

Riot 07-23-2007 08:14 PM

I'm so glad Cherie is with her, she'll fuss over Sumwon and know every detail of how she is feeling until Chuck arrives. Sumwon is "her" girl!

It's gonna be terrific for the DT-er's at the Spa to be able to see her on a regular basis, watch her regular morning works, learn her personality, etc.

Thanks for the update! :D

yeah, she does like to lay down. hope she doesn't stay in a snit long. poor gal, i'm grumpy enough when it gets dark and i can't read while tony drives. can't imagine standing up thru the whole thing too.

but then, this trip--no reading. had to drive most of the way, his foot is still giving problems.

but i digress.

glad she's settled in--hope everyone in that neck of the woods enjoys her!! looking forward to her return to the big easy, lot closer for me!

SniperSB23 07-23-2007 08:28 PM

Hopefully I can get my lazy butt out of bed and up there to finally see her tomorrow morning before work.

Sightseek 07-24-2007 03:07 PM

I went to see Sumwon today!

Her days of slumming it at Mountaineer are long forgotten and as she stopped to take in the sights while she was being hotwalked. The look on her face was of complete pleasure in her new life as a Saratoga Socialite living off 5th Ave.

And for those owners who were worried if Chuck, Cheri and Sumwon were being fed their treats, I dropped off carrots, peppermints and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Pictures to follow...it was a clowdy day at Saratoga so hopefully they came out OK.

Riot 07-24-2007 03:11 PM

Great update ! - looking forward to the pictures. She galloped this morning?

Did Sniper get up there before work?

Just jogged once around...the maintenance crew had to do their thing. She looked great though

Payson Dave 07-24-2007 04:13 PM

I'm guessing that she is jogging on the Oklahoma training Track right???

What is CS's saddle cloth colors/design?

Payson Dave 07-24-2007 04:21 PM

I was over at the main track for most of the morning...tell ya what it sure didn't feel like late July here this morning...couple of degrees cooler and there would of been snow in the air...Linda Rice had a nice looking NY Bred by the name of Canadian Ballet that had a good looking work..

Hi Steve..If the DTers can share some of the love ( and treats) with Top Royalle, it would be much appreciated. Do Sumwon and TR get along?

from PolyHorse blog:
Top Royelle worked nicely yesterday at Churchill and will travel to Saratoga, leaving Sunday afternoon and arriving Monday morning. We will be stabled in the Annex across from the backside of the Oklahoma track off of 5th avenue.

And to send an extra pair of eyeglasses and a bowl of common sense up to the stewards' room just in case....

I said hi to him or her this morning. :)

I've got my pictures loaded to the computer...the photos of her at the training track are very dark though. I could email them if anyone wants to see. (I don't know how to load them here)

after you load them onto the website
click on IMG code and that copies the picture
all you have to do then is paste the IMG code you copied on to a post here

and... here you go

-open a free account on photobucket.com
-upload you pics there by clicking on the browse buttons and locating the pics in your appropriate folders.
-under each of your pics on your photo bucket account there is a row that is labeled "url link"...click on that and it should auto copy to your notepad (if not then highlight the url and do an edit / copy)
-come back to Derby Trail and open a window to make a post
-in the second menu bar at the top of the post box there is a small yellow square with mountains and a sun in it....click on it and a second box opens up where you can do an edit / paste to put the pic url in the box.

hope this helps

Just the light. It was really dark this morning so we had the flash on. The little bumb over her eye is from shipping. Just rubbed hair and she should be super beautiful again soon!

That is the light, and the normal tapetal reflection from the back of a horses' eye :)

Payson Dave 07-24-2007 08:02 PM

I don't remember having to resize pics for photobucket...I know you do if you want to post directly from you computer to Derby Trail but i don't think you do if you upload to photobucket and then paste into your post here using the "img" box

you can open them in pain and shrink them down by going to

Image

Stretch/ Skew

and change it from 100% to 50%. save. and that should bring them don to a manageable size

wow Sumwon looks very relaxed yet attentive and every bit of that 16.2 hands !! is it just an optical illusion or is it possible she's grown UP as well as round lol??? sure looks every bit the racehorse - very nice, thank you and keep em coming, never tire of lookin at her...

Riot 07-25-2007 02:14 AM

I notice Cherie does have the "brand-new-used" white saddlecloth on her ... and the "full-control just-in-case" bit :) , although she (Sum, not Cherie) looks a bit sleepy still from her ship. I hope, towards the end of the meet, prior to her layoff, Cherie is able to hack her about some of the trails up there.

Expecting lots of great pictures from the east coast crew, and tons of daily updates including terribly insignificant details regarding our girl! :D

Danzig 07-25-2007 05:23 PM

she looks good.

i have a request...could someone PLEASE take a pic of her on the track with that gorgeous grandstand in the background???

Saw Top Royelle as well as Sumwon after the races today. No peppermints for either today but TR will get an apple tomorrow and Sumwon will get a peppermint. Both are scheduled for a w/o tomorrow morning. It's amazing to me how well behaved and loving Sumwon has become.

dellinger63 07-25-2007 09:31 PM

TR is a bit shy but a sweetheart and spent most of her time trying to nibble through the stall to get at the colt next to her.

I haven't heard anything about a work
Have you?

Neither TR or SWLY are listed on equibase as having worked today.

Chuck had told me ( I thought) earlier this week that TR was working tomorrow. Dell may have been under the influence at the time of writing..

Riot 07-26-2007 08:08 PM

He possibly meant back to galloping, rather than trotting?

dellinger63 07-27-2007 09:27 AM

Neither was a timed work but both horses look great. Zito's horses look like monsters as several including Nobiz were on the OK track. And Bob we start drinking early but not at 7am lol. Sorry about Ben......

OK Steve...Printing my retraction!

Thnx for the updates...Felt bad for Ben..loaded first and then just sat in the gate forever, broke so-so and cut his leg I guess. Looked like he was rolling, but never got there...
"Met" him Wed night...you're right...great personality and we had a lot of fun with him...Now if he could just break that maiden...
