Mullins after claimed from....wow!

Just did a little research.

206 horses claimed from Jeff Mullins
62 failed to race more than five times (30%)
10 broke down in their very next start (5%)
Most took a downward form cycle unless claimed from an expected drug user.

Is this data similar to most trainers or can a judgement be made here?

Left Bank 07-17-2007 06:02 PM

I posted this in another thread but I will put it here too.I think it is relevant.

That's only because breeders like speed horses, and many more horses are being foaled now than back in the 1950's.

Don't blame drugs, blame the breeders.

blame both....and blame the market and the trainers and owners too....everyone is to blame.

The Indomitable DrugS 07-17-2007 07:20 PM

I don't see it that way at all.

If you take drugs totally out of the equation...you're obviously left with no one to blame. The problem wouldn't exist.

Storm Cat is to blame for this, global warming, lack of world peace and the reason we've never had a woman president. (not that I'm voting for Hillary)

The Indomitable DrugS 07-17-2007 07:26 PM

Mullins isn't the magician now that he once was.

Coach Pants 07-17-2007 07:27 PM

Look when you've got a sport (baseball, auto racing, horse racing, pro wrestling) where people with mullets are rewarded for what they do, you're going to end up with a giant turd sandwich with an olive.

If I wasn't a sexist person I would vote for Hillary.

it's a chicken or the egg arguement....so many horses in the breeding shed ran on drugs...but the breeder didn't tell the trainer to give them....so now they are producing sub-par animals but it can't all be laid at the feet of the breeder....and those breeders who DO try to avoid fad sires and speed sires are left with a useful horse that is completely unmarketable....so unless they are breeding to race there is no point....so there you can blame the end user....

it's ridiculous to blame a problem as complex as this on only one part of the equation.

and if you took drugs completely out of the equation the frauds would be uncovered and wouldn't end up with ridiculous stallion deals like they do now...thus helping the breeder to create a better product.

Classic. Love it. We think totally alike.

Jeff Mullins is a giant turd sandwhich himself. Just think, he is the face of horse racing (or one of them). If he didn't fall into illegal drugs enhancing a horses performace, he'd be sitting in his fold up lawn chair outside his trailor on highway 36 slugging a schmidt in his white muscle T.

Ferdinand 07-17-2007 08:15 PM

Funny how if Mullins were black and had cornrows and were talked about like that in the context of the stereotype, it would be racism.... a mullet? Bring it on and no problem. Talk about double standards....

Yeah, now that is the kind of thing I trust a females opinion on!

Name me the color you think it should be, and I will make it so.

my miss storm cat 07-17-2007 08:55 PM

The racing footage is cool, but I did like the old video better.

Do they have a slightly lighter shade than the one you changed it too? Much better though!

Now it's black, but I like that too.

The Indomitable DrugS 07-17-2007 09:09 PM

How about now? Too light.

I'm a disaster at this.

Thanks!

I have myself a new color.

Of course, it was all just a desperate ploy to get some hits.

Are you saying that YOU are the problem?

I'm always the problem

Cannon Shell 07-17-2007 10:51 PM

If you were out of the equation it would be very dull around here.

The Indomitable DrugS 07-17-2007 11:00 PM

That's what I said about PG1985.

JJP 07-17-2007 11:45 PM

I was keeping trainers numbers how horses perform in their first race after leaving a particular barn.

Steve Asmussen was the worst. It took 43 horses for someone to finally win their first start post-Stevie A and that was an even money shot.
