Miracles do happen
Quite a number of you know about our tribulations with our son regarding eating.Well this week our son has had a few breakthroughs. He has eaten fruit,Veal,Broccoli and Carrots and let me brace you for this one by telling you to sit down and grab tight. We go for Sushi once a week and he never tries anything.Today he ate EEL:eek: .All the restaurant employees came over to the table to witness this feat. It's equivalent to Moses parting the red sea.Heck i didn't even eat Sushi until i was in my 30's.He's really trying and that's all my wife and i ever asked.:D :D

Hey Mermaid...that's great news! picky eaters are hard to deal with, and the younger they are the more stress develops! Peaceful meals?...what a concept!:D

I love EEL. They make a great BBQ EEL roll at the local Fresh Market. Good stuff. |

P.S. I just read the other posts on here and boy am I glad I'm not alone... Daniel will eat pizza, pasta, green beans, mac and cheese and oatmeal. That about sums up his eating... it's beyond frustrating! LOL |
you took a fussy child to a sushi bar?
that has prevented a few future births by the other couples on early dates. thanks for doing your part on the overpopulation problem. |
I hate sushi... there's just something about raw fish that doesn't appeal to me.

sushi isnt raw fish |

The last time I checked it was typically rice (with raw fish) wrapped in seaweed. If it's got raw fish or raw seafood of any kind in it, I'll pass. Thanks. |

They great majority of it is cooked. Some of it is raw, but not all of it. Sushi is the name given to the way it is wrapped with rice and seaweed. Even California Rolls (vegetables) are called sushi. Surprises me...I put you on the kinda person that would like sushi. I could eat it every day. They make a great spicy combo roll at the place I get it from. 4 pieces each of spicy shrimp, spicy salmon and spicy tuna. Only the tuna is raw, the other two are cooked. |

Cajun,
My son also had ear infection after ear infection, took out his tonsils and anoids at about age 3 1/2 and has not been on an antibiotic since. Have you ever discussed this with your Dr. Interesting conversation, my son could eat french fries at every meal if we let him. Now 7 1/2 and still eats a very limited menu, very very frustrating. |
[quote=Cajungator26]Thought you knew me better than that, hun. I hate seafood... I'll eat tilapia or mahi every now and again, but if it smells like fish or the ocean, I can't handle it. I'm from the wrong state. :o
Daniel is on his second set of tubes! He would get ear infections every time he got a cold (which was/is a lot. :() He had been put on everything (including steroids) and nothing would kick them... I think it might be genetics. I had the same problem as a kid, but my Mom wouldn't put ear tubes in because they were so risky at the time. If the doctor tells me Dan needs them again, I refuse to put him through that crap again. He's also had his adnoids taken out.[/QUOTE Jamie this is just a statement and not meant to be offensive to you in anyway.I've heard horror stories about parents and their kids doctors.I hate going into Manhattan and dealing with the traffic but for these doctors i have no problem. Our childrens pediatrician is head of critical care at NYU and he noticed in our son in a split second years ago that his left eye was a little lazy and sent us to an eye doctor. Our son has been wearing glasses since 2.5 years old and in about 3 years will not need them anymore. How he saw that in a fraction of a second i'll never know but these doctors are the best. |

I'm not surprised to hear that New York has great doctors... that'd be a long haul from here! LOL |
My mom said I ate dirt till I was 8.
Also picked gumb out of ashtrays for sampling. Pillbugs... but Im fine now. Yes indeed. And your son will be fine just like me... that should bring great comfort, thats what Im here for. Those taste buds change, its amazing. My daughter used to never eat anything spicy. Now she puts jalapenos and picante on anything rapped in a tortilla. Those messages to the brain change over time. I was again challenged to swallow a live mullet whole (we were at the coast this weekend) so I oblidged my fans. Anyone who has caught mullet in nets know that absolutely unique smell. Always pinch the nose when swallowing live fish. Never swallow the finny ones. ALWAYS head first. Try and keep them off your tongue. |

threads like these have me counting my blessings. all my kids were healthy, one had tonsils out--other than that, except for all three having to get stitches at some point, no health issues.
and they all eat well too. helps keep things in perspective when you hear stories! of course mine are independant minded, and stubborn, not afraid to speak their minds--which presents its own kind of problems. wonder where they got that from? |

My son had all kinds of ear infections as a 2-3 year old. It must be hereditary because I had the tubes when I was a kid. Beware, because the problem was diagnosed falsely a few times. Apparently my son would get in hysterics at the doctor office and when they would look in his ear it would look infected, but it was actually the result of the hysterics. Bottom line is that the other doctor in the office (the better one) said that there was a good chance that he would outgrow the ear problems and thankfully he did. He does have a lazy eye also, and he has been wearing glasses for a year. He does great with them and hopefully he will outgrow that problem too. As far as the sushi goes. I can't even get my wife to eat it. Personally I love it. You guys are right, they won't starve. So it is just a big competiton who will give first, and thankfully the parents got on the board tonight. Bottom line is these should be the biggest problems we ever have to deal with!

Pro Health Care Associates? They are affilliated with LIJ-North Shore and they take care of the NY Jets, NY Islanders, Hofstra University and St. John's University. They are right on Marcus Ave. We have found them to be as good as the guys in NYC. We only bring our orthopedic cases into NYC for surgery. |
