So,since it has no therapeutic value for a horse and is barred from being on the racing grounds.Mr.B should be looking at a LONG vacation. It will be interesting to see this outcome.

troubling:

The next possible step would be a hearing before the racing authority, after which the case could go into the court system, meaning resolution could be months, if not years, away.

The Bid 07-04-2007 03:24 PM

How many chances do you give a guy like Biancone

Hes been kicked out of 2 countries

Left Bank 07-04-2007 03:35 PM

Well, this is where the tracks themselves should be stepping in.They banned all these jockeys this spring with no proof presented, yet Mr.B{and other trainers} is/are caught red handed with a banned substance and continue on.Double sided if you ask me.

ARyan 07-04-2007 04:34 PM

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and what kind of penalty he gets, and if criminal charges are pressed like in the Saratoga Harness case.

3 is too many, IMO.

The Bid 07-04-2007 04:36 PM

Theres no doubt about him having too many chances. Hes not getting a lasix overage, hes injecting snake venom, who knows what else he does. The guy needs to be in prison

I don't expect anywhere near the same result, although I could be wrong. The Saratoga harness case involved several people, a conspiracy or collusive effort to tamper with the outcome of a specific race, and was the result of an ongoing "sting" operation and investigation (where they had wire taps, telephone conversations, purchasing of the drugs, etc.).

Agreed, but what will his defense be?

Maybe...

"Do you know how successful I am? Don't you think its possible people are out to get me?"

I know we have heard that one before...

The Bid 07-04-2007 10:01 PM

Maybe they just keep the venom on hand incase someone gets bit by a cobra at Turfway. Then they can quickly come up with an antidote to counteract the bite of a Kentucky Cobra

How about trainers who get positives have to endure a dose of whatever crap they're putting in these horses?

Eye for an eye.

I have heard the Kentucky Cobra can be as deadly as the Adirondack Barking Spider...

The Bid 07-04-2007 10:08 PM

If Biancone could smoke the venom he probably wouldnt mind. Very rarely do you see him without a cigarette, amazing his barn hasnt been blown up from lighting up within 500 feet of his stable

The Bid 07-04-2007 10:09 PM

If Biancones horsetrailer ever broke down between Keeneland and Churchill they would have to call in hazmat.

Next stop for him may be Arapahoe Park. I can see him now smoking Players and cursing the weather...

Sacre bleu!

The Bid 07-04-2007 10:13 PM

Next stop Turkey or India for Biancone.

There should be a rule you can only be kicked out of three countries before they consider taking your trainers license

Coach Pants 07-04-2007 10:31 PM

Now this is just heresay but I was told Dr. Rod Stewart asked the investigators if they thought he was sexy.

The Bid 07-04-2007 10:36 PM

The first positive is the deepest

When it comes to Cobra venom hes cursed

When it comes to an inspection its worse

If a trainer ever tells you he wants to, "show you his snake", run ....

Concern 07-05-2007 09:46 PM

I don't think another country is going to be an option for Biancone, at least not for quite some time, if he is proven guilty. This offense will most certainly result in prison time.

ALostTexan 07-05-2007 10:03 PM

What exactly would he use snake venom for?

unassailable08 07-05-2007 10:06 PM

ID say

inject him with the Cobra Venom

so he can know what if feels like.

What Vet in their right mind would inject it.

Does Patrick Biancone know how to do that?

The Bid 07-05-2007 10:19 PM

His vet is private. They were in it together would be a fair assumption

Concern 07-05-2007 11:57 PM

Cobra venom is used to deaden the nerve endings, making it possible for an injured horse to run without feeling any pain. Should the pre-existing injury that is being masked by the venom lead to an unfortunate breakdown, all of the horses and jockeys in the race are potentially in danger of losing their lives. This is a very serious offense and life in prison is not an unrealistic penalty in this case.

I kinda figured it was some sort of nerve blocking agent. I am assuming that it is somewhat difficult to detect, unless you have a bottle in your supplies...
