Golf- ok, since I dont know all that much..
Baseball- I liked Harold Reynolds... but no more, hes gone.
Hubie-can really grate on the nerves. But Hubie knows his basketball very, very well.
College football- I cant remember, and either can Keith Jackson.
College Basketball- Dick Vitale... Im sorry, but Im a sucker. I cant help but like him.
Pro Football- Madden. I like the whole sweaty, fat lineman that eat too much stuff. Sadly they made him tone it down. I hate his commercials though, he looks dead. Whoever does his makeup is a mortician.
Tennis- John McEnroe (his brother is on more but not as good)

Agree with Hubie Brown; he is like a basketball professor. Jim Kaat was a terrific baseball analyst. He retired after last year. He might have been fed up with the Yankees' YES Network.

Packer used to be excellent. He has become a gruff old man lately, though. (I always loved listening to Al McGuire, who used to partner with Packer before Billy moved to CBS.)

And I guess that Randy Moss can be considered a color analyst, too. I like listening to him.

I saw Theismann's name somewhere in this thread. That must have been a joke.

Randy Moss ?....... The Silver & Black couldnt get rid of him faster...:p

I had Dick Vitale in my cab when I hacked in the late 70's.

He tried to tip me $0.10 on a $15 fare.

I put a curse on him.

You must not have seen him coach. He was the worst NBA coach I ever saw.

To be honest, he got lucky and won one game in his life that counted which was when U-D beat Marquette on the road in 1977, the year Marquette won the NCAA.

He was an utter failure in the NBA.

I'm sure he makes more money than most NBA coaches with zero pressure and he hasn't been fired in 25 years. Please curse me in this manner.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-16-2007 02:38 PM

I would think there isn't many things better in life than making tons of money, while allowed to be an annoying hack, with zero pressure.

In the case of both Dicky V and the gentleman in my avatar.

Next to Bill Walton, Johnny Miller might the worst announcer of all time....

SCUDSBROTHER 06-16-2007 09:51 PM

BASEBALL-MORGAN is a biased little Bay Area Elf,but Walton(NBA) is the one I would pay to retire.

I think Miller has toned it down, much to his credit! I love David Feherty! My List Baseball: Jeff Brantley...liked HR too
Pro Basketball: No one..they all suck(TnT doesn't suck)
College BB: Bilas is not bad...other names escape me
College FB: Herbstreit/Dan Fouts...and anyone not named MUSBERGER
Pro Hockey: Yeah...right

Yeah but Miller toning it down doesn't even get him close to the bottom of the list....I remember watching Summerall and Venturi, they were the best.....Curtis Strange was really good too..

College Football is Herbstreit no doubt imo

College Basketball - does it get any better than Dicky V????

Pro Basketball announcers suck because Pro Basketball sucks.....

Pro Hockey - I have no idea.....Dorothy Hamill maybe.....

deltagulf 06-17-2007 08:51 PM

how about pro baseball dave soup campbell.

pro football hank straim but he is gone now.

Danzig 06-17-2007 09:24 PM

john madden knows his football, that's for sure--but ever since i heard the comedian 'do' madden, and the bit about him eating his sentences before he could finish them...well, i'll never hear madden the same way now. as for theismann, that line about geniuses and norman einstein, that's an all-timer there! that and his 'you have to score to put points on the board' line...whata guy!

i thought the best sports guy was jim mckay. always enjoyed his work.

todays analysts...ehh. dime a dozen. i think aikman could be good, but can't stand joe buck, and wish they didn't put them together in the booth.

Hey...I get misty when I watch MOI! It is a good sport, but it has been mismanged from the top for so long! It's a sport that has 92% of arena tix sold but the Teams are suffering because the Marketing strategy is bad!
