Just saw this on ESPN...he's expected to take the offer.

Ridin' High In April...
....shot down in May.
OFF TO THE ONLY COACH KILLER WORSE THAN.... ...MV!!! Please don't go! |

OOOOOOOOOO |
How could he pass it up? The beauty of the move is that if he flops, he gets the $$$ and every college in the country will be on the phone to hire him.
This is coming from a very unhappy Gator fan. |

Wonder if he'd have taken the Magic job if he had already taken the UK job? Wouldn't put it past him. |
I'm sure he would have...another one playing "follow the money"!

Pretty quiet in here from the Gators fans!!! At first I was really upset. but then i could see it from BDs' point...everyone is gone now from team...6M a year to accept the challenge...and if it doesn't work out,he can still coach anywhere he wants. Will be interesting to see if his transition works!
|
With the continued improvement of Darko Milicic, Donovan will have them in the finals in a year!! He sees Howard and Darko as an upscale version of Horford and Noah.

I'm unhappy, but I don't blame Donovan.
As for the new recruits, I work with a guy directly whose son just signed with the UF program and he is definitely staying. According to my co-worker, his son stated that the majority of the new recruits will stay as long as they hire a good coach. (Well duh.) LOL Word is that Foley is going to interview Anthony Grant (VCU head coach and former assistant under Donovan.) We'll see... |

Howard is a force. But so far a Shaq-like force. I want to see how his skills progress. Darko I cant say. Just have not seen him enough. I like Nelson. No Grant Hill. Starting forward and go to scorer with range is Hedo Turkeybreath. Yikes. No way. The cornerstone needs some support. FINALS?????????? Yikes and Nopes. |

Thought you were serious. I humbly bow and prostrate myself before you. |

Florida's incoming recruits were not the first to call Lucas, however. A future Wildcat actually dialed him first. "The first person to call me was Patrick Patterson," said a laughing Lucas. "He said, 'I told you so' and told me to quit playing around and come to Kentucky." HAHA!!!! Kentucky will now dominate the SEC once again!!!!!!! Everything is how it should be!!! |
he is having second thoughts and may back out of deal

HE spent the last 3 days watching Darko tapes and figured the freshman coming in to replace Noah and Horford were a better bet!!!
|
|
and, after four days, the bloom is off the rose, orlando is going to let him out of his contract before the ink is dry, and back to gator-ville he goes.
and they say women can't make up their minds! pfffft. |
apparently this is much easier because he hasn't signed the deal yet..only agreed in principle.....see these college guys always think the grass is greener.....these guys are heros in their towns...they make millions of dollars, can do no wrong, but they have to test the next level....well lucky for him, he figured it out before it was too late...
|
Actually, according to ESPN, BD has signed the contract...and the Magic immediately received 200 season ticket orders! The question is not whether he'll go back to UF, but whether there will be a financial impact to get out of contract!
|
Not only did he sign, it does indeed sound like Orlando is going to hold him to it. Timm... this is really strange. What does Orlando gain by holding him to the contract? Are they trying to change his mind again with the threat of losing $. That would be bizarre...
"Hi. I am Billy Donovan fresh out of coaching college. I am now your new professional basketball coach, but I really dont want to be here" That does not work for Orlando. He really has to go back to Florida. But is Orlando really going to try and go legal on him and hurt him monetarily? Florida will of course take him back with open arms, crying and sobbing. This is really an interesting story. |
WHAT A WAFFLEING CHUMP.

He can stay at Florida until he dies, if that's what he wants. If he went to the NBA he's make $10 Mil more over the next 5 years but most likely would have got fired after 2-3 years. Guess he figured 3.5 million a year is enough, especially since he'll have a job for as long as he wants.
I heard his wife didn't want to move. I blame her for the whole thing. |
