Yeah, I found that out after I got there. Funny, my form had a betting menu
and said pick 4 races 6-9 and races 7-10. I think it must have been a misprint.

-$72 for the day. Assmussen's ridiculous win streak caused me to not bet Officer Rocket.

I didn't watch the race but i'm sure Curlin won by 10+ lengths. Assmussen could probably murder 5 people on the backside at Oaklawn and nobody would notice.

You're right about Curlin and about Asmussen. He kicked my butt all day.
I think my horse ran 2nd to his 6 or 7 times.

After going rather, shall I say, LARGE on Curlin....my friend and I decided to put 75 on the 8-7 exacta. Paid for the trip!!!! It was a great hour of betting.

Glad someone did good. I should have done a whole lot better (famous last words). I am a midling handicapper, but the world's worse bettor. Did you sit in John Ed Anthony's box again? I saw someone sitting there, but decided it must have been a family member, because it was only a single person and I knew you said you had a friend with you.

jman5581 04-15-2007 03:17 PM

We went up there earlier and he was there with some people....and then one of his buddies was coming up for the last few races and he said we could sit in the box with him. But, I am really a railbird and I was surprised how easy it was to get a spot on the rail right at the finish line. So, that's what we did for the last 3 races. I got a picture of Curlin zipping past the finish line with about 8 lengths behind him.....and no one other horse in sight.

There was a pretty large crowd, almost 58,000, but the threat of rain and the gloomy day must have kept a lot of people at home because last year there was 70,000. I saw Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys owner. Pretty big guy. He looks like he could still play football himself.
