Belmont's going to get a parking garage

Wynn:
"A high-rise garage has to be built next to Belmont Park."

what an ass.hole.

I haven't read the article, but parking at Belmont can be miserable. A parking garage doesn't seem like that terrible an idea.

Sometimes I park at Cardinal Stadium or the Kroger next to Churchill. I like exercise. I guess Wynn has a point about the parking garage. "New Yorkers are fat asses, they need a parking garage so they can do less waddling and more gambling. Oh and we'd like to put cameras on their heads so we can show everyone how they're doing on the VLT's."

I loved reading Jerry Bailey's comments about his concerns about the backstretch living conditions for the workers at NYRA tracks. These are the same workers he stiffed every time he won a big race.

"They should be taken care of as long as it's not MY money" said Bailey

"If you pay these guys what they deserve and give them a decent place to live, then they'll have the courage to kick drugs and will have extra money to buy my DVD to teach them how to gamble" said Bailey

I love those people who would rather sit in their car for several minutes waiting for a good spot at the grocery store or mall...heaven forbid they should have to do any sort of physical activity!

Hard to believe that a parking garage at Belmont is a big part of the plan to revitalize horseracing in NY

His comments about NYRA not promoting Cigar are even more disingenuous ( the Cigar Mile? ) as you know that what he is REALLY referring to is the appearance fees that other racetracks offered Cigar and NYRA refused to do so ( and correctly so IMO ). Because, let's be honest here, it's really all about money to Jerry.

It's also interesting how he conveniently seems to have forgotten that his wife was hired in that same time period by NYRA to do promotions ( for a pretty sweet piece of change I might add ) and her lone contribution seemed to be the creation of " Ladies Day " at Aqueduct ( take a deep breath ) on the day after Thanksgiving no less.

This isn't a personal thing against Bailey, who was one of the greatest riders of all time, but a fairer side of the facts. Bailey says a lot of things that are in direct conflict with the truth about both the situation and his personal behavior. It is well known that he was the cheapest guy around the racetrack. For him to suddenly care about the welfare of the backstretch workers is in direct contrast to his actions while riding.

I believe that it is not uncommon for many jockeys to reward the exercise rider and even the groom that helped to get a winning mount ready...I know Bailey had a reputation for not doing so...not the most charitable fellow.

In other words, Bailey is a hypocrite. Nothing worse in my opinion.

Ouch, that's low...

Maybe Stevieboy will build a parking garage like the one at the Wynn, which has a laser-enabled counter to tell you how many spots are still available on each floor. That garage probably cost more than Aqueduct to build
